I used them as examples, parts of Russia are less than 20 miles from Ukraine, it only took us 2 hours to drive down a pot hole filled road from Kharkiv into Russia, if any parts of Russia gets hit it will inflame things which will bring the West into it because Putin will declare all out war (this is my opinion)

Prob a good idea not to do so, then

Ok fair enough, just seemed odd examples?

Ukraine still see Crimea as stolen from them in 2014 but I can't see a time where Russia doesn't have control of the peninsula.

Bollocks I was excited then.

Is taking shots at Crimea deffo a defensive move would one say?

Crimea is Ukraine. Attacking the invader in its own country is defensive. Reports of ammunition dumps in Russia being destroyed though. That could be classed as an offensive operation but the Ruskis deny it as they keep telling their own people that Ukraine doesn’t have the capabilities.

To be fair, it's over 150 miles behind the front line and when you've only got the Russian media to go off...

It makes the Ukrainian strike all the more impressive really. I'm not quite sure how they've managed it.

That notwithstanding, I'll put it another way- would you go there or Yemen or anywhere where a war is taking place?

Russian ships have already been attacked not too far away, so I can't get my head round why anyone would remotely consider going there for a holiday.

Probably not, but I think it's probably worth trying to view it from their perspective. Their media coverage is wall-to-wall Krelin propaganda and Crimea is a popular holiday destination currently over 150 miles into Russian controlled territory.

Until yesterday, no-one thought it possible that Ukraine could strike the region.

I doubt even you would believe that.

As the Lt says, they're quite happy to push their version onto the people, so none of them will he unaware of it.

It just comes down to the fact that they're holidaying in a country they invaded in 2014 and have been at war with since, and then the massive escalation since.

I know he talks about newer, longer range missiles, but, when making a decision where to go, would that actually come to mind?

If they do indeed cause damage to that nuclear plant, then that could well be a game changer, as it would potentially damage neighbouring nato countries.

Been some interesting comments from different senior military people recently too, about our soldiers needing to prepare to fight, so maybe there is some intelligence that is worrying governments.
