Can you not just read what he actually said and take it at face value? It's almost as though you're chomping at the bit for us to be financially fucked again.

Yeah I can't wait

All I've ever wanted is for us to fail

Say what you like, smaller clubs are still recovering from covid. A club like us, already struggling to re establish ourselves. Easy to say but if that hadn’t happened we and FV would be on track for sustainability.

Even with the points deduction.

Even so, we’re still in a better position than a lot of sides.

In the last year isgrove was on the payroll, our top paid player earned close to 400k

Who was on 8k a week?

At one point I believe John and Lee were top on around 4.5k

Until we see the size of the anticipated trading loss it's all speculation - it might be a tenner or it might be 10 million.

A loss at this stage is expected and there's not many clubs making a fortune anyway.

What the message does do is manage expectations in the short term. It explains why we didn't sign the likes of Wilson and Baccus and hopefully it will stop folk whingeing about  the signings we do make - so even if we do get promoted, we shouldn't be expecting much in the way of big money players.

Promotion would bring in more income and possibly attract new investors, but we will struggle to compete financially especially against relegated clubs on parachute payments - we'll just have to continue working with what we can afford.

We haven't yet started bringing through youngsters regularly. Either into the first team (reducing transfer fees) or selling onto lower teams for a little profit.

Obviously, if one or two good first teamers go for good money, and profit, then that's also going to help.

We've tended to bring in players for a while, who have done a job, and then gone. Not necessarily creating transfer revenue, but improving the team and getting us higher each time.

If we don't go up this time, then I reckon one or two will be sold and we'll have to re-invent ourselves again. Which is fine as long as we keep improving.

I don’t think we’re going to bring many through for a LONG time.

Our best hope is picking up a Scouse or Manc rough diamond and then polishing them up. Essentially what we did with McAteer and Stubbs and, to a certain extent, what we’ve done with Charles and Thomason.

Got half a mill more than we paid for him. Be interesting to know if there were any bonuses built in.

Supposed to be a promotion bonus and percentage of sell on profit.

No idea if it's true or the same as the famous Chelsea loan but have seen it reported.

Promotion and Dapo selling for say £3m will prob give us 50p

Sell ons you mean? Iles reported recently if St Pauli go up we’re due a pay out.

not necessarily a sell on as that would involve them, well, selling him but x amount for appearances, goals and promotion. Would expect so given even Anderson thought of that one with Holding.

Agree Lusty and if we did get promotion all we’d have to do is survive, which I actually believe we’d do with what we have now. We might need a few “older heads” with experience but I think the sustainable route of using young players and developing them is the right way, short of some new mega bucks owner coming in. We just need to get there first and then we can look ahead.

Correct. That is part of the model though, aiming for sustainability.

Whether they're our own, or cast offs brought on, we will need to sell some.
