  • I just want my lad to witness a promotion. Don't really care what happens or who plays for us after that. I definitely will in the future, but the absolute focus has to be to get out of this mind-numb

  • I disagree. His BWFC years were some of his greatest and happiest of his career. His latest SSN documentary piece highlighted this, as does countless footage of his wonder, his PFA nominatio

From earlier this year

Thought we were ok in this department, unless some of them have been “Craddocked”

Few snippets:

“Bolton Wanderers boss Ian Evatt trusts scientific approach. The club boosted their backroom this week with the appointment of a new head of sports science, Paul Walsh, who has previously worked with Stoke City, Sunderland and Northern Ireland.

Sharon (Brittan) and the board are amazing at it – they trust that we can get on with our jobsin our area of expertise. Likewise, I am not a sports scientist, so I will listen to them and take on that information.

“Of course, it is then my decision, but it is an informed one, and the information I get from those guys is fantastic“

Interesting. I didn’t realise we had recruited anyone

You’d assume this is the one game we wouldn’t want these hanging over us. Grrrrr.

We need them all for Wycombe but they can only play the next game and not think ahead.

That said they can cut out the silly shit like dissent or kicking the ball away.

My thoughts too.

And I’ll squeeze this in even though you might read quickly past it 😊…. Evatt says the same too in BN this morning.

This shouldn’t be on the players minds Saturday. The’ve got to have no distractions, nothing stopping them from giving a passionate and committed display - but yes no dissent, that is avoidable.

We’ll deal with Wycombe after Wigan

The EFL’s yellow card amnesty kicks in on the 19th game of the season, meaning Ricardo Santos, George Johnston, Jay Matete and Aaron Collins must avoid a booking in their next game to be in the clear.

Wanderers go to Adams Park on Friday, December 20, for what will be their 19th game of the League One campaign.

One positive about Bristol postponement, means they are all available for Wigan, would be nice if they are available for Wycombe too.

On the other hand I want every player to get a yellow against Wigan for tough tackling and generally being a cunt

Players invariably get a week or two week wage deduction for a red card, I'd like similar punishments imposed for non-footballing yellows like dissent & kicking the ball away. Might make them think twice.

Me too.

... but our managing setting such a poor example on the sidelines doesn't help.

When Collins, who's now on 4 yellows, scored the very late winner, off came the shirt.

Now, I get a celebration, especially in that case but there's nothing instinctive about removing your shirt.

Reserve the yellows for fouls in play, where you may need one.

brainless isn't it. We'd managed 150 years+ without anyone feeling the need to rip their shirt off after scoring.

this history of getting booked for taking your shirt off

https://www.theguardian.com/football/2024/mar/20/who-was-the-first-footballer-booked-for-removing-their-shirt-in-celebration-the-knowledge

this amused me:

Asprilla’s yellow card meant he was suspended for the first leg of the quarter-final against Monaco. His manager Kevin Keegan absolved Asprilla of any blame. “It’s my fault he was booked,” said Keegan. “The referee said beforehand that anyone who took their shirt off would get a yellow card but I forgot to tell the lads in the dressing-room.”

Some rare good news on the injury front with Mendes-Gomes & Carty both playing half a game for the B team today.

He will be bombing down that wing in our new 442 formation soon then :)

Good to hear that Cartys back too. Get him a loan move somewhere decent in January then he’s hopefully fit to show what he can do next season. I quite like the look of him so I’m hopeful for him.

How far away is toal from returning ?   Surprise name on the teamshwet tomorrow ?

Tutu injured again (knee)

So its a left footed player at RWB, and a right footed player at left CB.

Given that playing 4 at the back isn't an option, I'd honestly rather put Williams at LCB and have a right back with a right foot (Cogley).

Jesus.

Wonder if there will be others actually playing with an injury.

It looked like that at the weekend. Very decent player but will he ever be fit ?

Tutu has had a fucked knee for a couple of years and still bought him same  with farino with is hamstring both poor signings over playing tutu when he as only just returned didn’t help but he wasn’t going to make it through Xmas to many games in a short period

we have only one squad place free for January signings if we’re looking at bringing players in might as well de resister those two and Gomes if he still isn’t fit

I'm sure we could negotiate Forino and Desmond only counting half a place each. Fair's fair lads.

I'd completely forgotten about Forino

If only we had a young 22 year old wing back to fill in..

Is matheson still with us?
