Have done and would do again (Drove, not flew as that would not make sense) Great food, beer, countryside, beaches, castles, ruins, gardens and hotels/rentals. I would highly recommend it to anyone.

Indeed.

Great part of the world.

Raul Moat nearly ruined one visit for us though. 😀

There loads to do near Tenby, done quite a few weeks down near there and there's always plenty of foreign tourists knocking around.

Worth the drive to swim at Barafundle Bay for me.

My go to beach is Manorbier, usually quiet. Go most days to walk the dog.

Loads of great places in the UK.  As mentioned, Anglesey, Lakes, Northumberland but I'm also a big fan of Shropshire and Herefordshire too.  Would love to get up to Skye and beyond one day but its a bit of a slog with the dog.

There's loads of amazing towns and cities to visit too, with places of interest, sights, great eating etc. This last couple of seasons we've combined away games with long weekends in London, Cambridge, Portsmouth, Plymouth and Norwich. The UK is great 👍

Few years back, cold, dry winters day, i drove north from a s wales shithole

Bridgend i think

Anyway, drove up through the valleys up towards shrewsbury

Fantastic lake at the side of the road overlooked by a hill hill

Dunno where it was, but it was beautiful...id go if i knew for sure where it was

Also had 2 or 3 days when working.  Small place on eng/wales border, Presteigne  that struck me as a lovely spot..3 pubs with green beer gardens

Maybe Brecon Beacons.

Been twice this year and stay here for a couple of nights. £50 per night with continental breakfast.

They have a gypsy wagon on site too which is £60 per night. For some reason it's not on there website.

I've often fancied a trip there

Is it not a right ballache getting to it, though?

Aye. beautiful journey up if you've got the time though.

Night in Edinburgh, night or two in the Highlands, then up to Thurso.

Folks have a place near Dornoch which is a couple of hours before John O groats. It's a stunning area and the West Coast is another level for me.

Not been to Orkney but have heard great things. The history of the place is incredible.

Worth making a proper trip of it if you're keen.

We did one of those Sun holidays once to Prestatyn when the eldest was about 3 so a good 15 years ago. It was an absolute shithole. The chalet was surprisingly OK but there was a huge family group on an adjacent block that would be screaming and shouting to each other what seemed like 24 hours a day. We lasted 3 days then fucked off home.

Sun haven holidays are great so long as there's something to do nearby off the park and you're not relying on the park for your entertainment / night life

Dornoch is nice, stopped there before on the way up to Orkney.

There northwards is fairly bleak to be honest as it is mainly moorland, with very cold winters. Orkney is an odd one, mostly windy as fuck but slightly warmer than the Highlands.

Like I say, the history is something else. That crazy GB News mentalist loved it before Covid warped his mind, he probably loves it even more now!

Aye

Remember reading that Sutherland is one of the most sparsely populated areas in Europe.

Quite like the bleakness of it at times. But prefer the west coast, it's mesmerising.

Not had a passport for 17 years now

Do i ever miss not being in an airport and then the journey from this beautiful island to some shit hole because the sun shines there ?

No !

😂

Missing out! but we're all different so I respect your choices.

Funnily enough that's how I thought up until 6 years ago. Seeing other parts of the world is something I'll never have to regret. Enjoyable experiences.

Are you the one who treated this place like trip advisor.  Cant remember

I feel like this thread has gone from "I'm giving up the booze" to "I've found somewhere selling 2 litres of drip trays for 50p" within days.

It's shit the UK for holidaying apart from these 5 pages of decent places to go if you don't want egg and chips for your tea whilst watching Britains got talent in 40 degree heat

You don't have to go to a shithole. Unless of course you think everywhere other than the UK is a shithole 🤔
