Pompey (A)

I think we just have to put it down to so many of our players being off it tonight and that miss by Dion really seemed to knock us back and energisevPompey. We came out for the second half all subdued whilst they came out flying and we just never got back into it. No worries, only one game and we can make up for it with a good win on Saturday. Plenty games to go and win what we have in hand and the league looks a different story again. Just one of those games I’m afraid.

Potentially but it doesn't always work out like that

There's more than one way to skin a cat

You're right it doesn't.

Just like us having a good record this season against top sides, and arguably a lesser record against the bottom, so I don't really think your point about us only going up by winning runs against poor teams stacks up.

There is more than one way to skin a cat, and it's something that I've long called for, but it is hardly the end of the world.

After 46 games we'll truly see where we're at.

Charles scores and we win. Simple as that.

Santos and Toal had their biggest test and tbh struggled at times but not catastrophic.

Don’t see what JDB offers over Vic in a starting 11 as an overall work rate.

Think we’ll win the next four and it’ll all be forgiven. And Pompey are more than capable of a fuck up or two

Plenty faces. Roll on the next one.

It's not about good teams and bad teams though, it's about a particular circumstance where we not only fail but fail in the same way

I don't care about a couple of bad results earlier in the season when had a few out with injury, we have a good record, across a number of seasons, of putting long winning runs together - until we inevitably get beaten in circumstances like tonight - and it'll be that ability that gets us up (if we go up)

JDB and Jones were comfortably our best on the night. Williams really struggled and seems to be out most obvious weak link.

It’s a shame Evatt can’t bury the hatchett with John as he’s still our best LWB.

He’s in league 2 for a reason, Williams might be plying his trade there soon, we need better than those 2.

Fully agree MK and I think that will be where Evatt’s looking in the window. Iredale isn’t a wing back, Ashworth isn’t good enough so with the way Evatt plays a new LWB is essential I think.

Felt like the game turned in their favour after the miss from Charles first half.

Fair play to Pompey second half we never got to grips with them.
Santos was tested tonight and knew he was in a game. Morley was garbage when he came on.

Good turnout of Wways faces. long old journey home tonight though.

Dust ourselves down for Bristol on Saturday and go again. COYWM

Ive said i didnt see evatt leaving vic out and im surprised he did

However, we didnt lose cos of the change

I even thought JDB did well but shouldve scored and couldve prevented the first

What i would say to all those pre match daying it was obvious JDB should start, i didnt think it was, or is

May just have been other factors but charles seemed to be chasing even more than normal

But, in fairness, they werent exeter

He’s gonna bury Bod for this. A shame as it’s completely unfair.

Not too much to be despondent about. Dion scores and that would gave been a completely different game. Very satisfied with where we are likely to be at the turn of the year. Convinced a long run of positive results is coming in the new year which will see us through to where we belong, The Championship.

Spot on. Tonight was a free hit. We will lose a few on the road to the end. Losing here isn’t a disaster. Dust ourselves off for Sat.

I dont think he is and dunno why you think he would

Fwiw, i still think vic and charles should start

Let’s see. If Charles scores the sitter that’s an assist Vic wouldn’t of likely of achieved and a different outcome.

For the first I think Bod is blameless as it was Thomason who let his man go and he was blind sided. Not a pop at GT who I’ve stated can play a pass no other can play in our ranks and showed numerous times.

Aye Bod did himself no favours tonight.

Miles better coming off the bench as a game changer.

Shouldve scored his header too.

Really?  I feared him having a poor game, which he's capable of, and Vic replacing him on Saturday.  But he was far and away better than Vic has ever been for us in the 1st half.  For the header he found space, kept himself on side, attacked the ball and headed it cleanly, I can't remember a better attacking header all season from open play (happy to be corrected if anyone can remember one).

Good save, rebound should have been in.  The reason he changes games when he comes off the bench is because he's a good player at this level.
