I might have mentioned this before, but going back 40 years easy Tommy used to come to the Market st. Tavern in Stoneclough with some of his mates from Social Circle.

No doubt you know his lad then? Had some great racing days with him and the FSC mob.

Our old Physics teacher, Mr Hutchinson, used to play cricket for FSC.

1958 ? That stadium roofline  looks like ours 60odd years later. Only with less on.

Looks like Ullevi. Still recognisable. Been there a few times for gigs.

Didn't know that mate. A number of good friends of mine played there for many years which is how I got in on the racing days organised by Big Bob and Jimmy Mac. Great little club as far as the social side was concerned which is sort of what it said on the tin.

Sad day, genuine BWFC legend.

Never saw him play for us but saw him turning out at Breightmet United in the Combination.

My grandad told me about the televised final when he smashed the ball in the air and the mic caught him shouting ‘th’ighest yet’, in a broad Bolton accent.

RIP

"Legend" is over used these days, but this mon was a proper Bowton legend on and off the pitch.

For any who haven't already, read his book - cracking read.
