Good first post.

Who are you backing then, and how much are you lumping on?

Think I'd go Shoemaker of them mentioned - massive caveat being my generally appalling judgement on managerial appointments.

Remember watching Stoke play us in the pre-season friendly and thinking "that's how Evatt wants us to play" as they carved us open and went back to front quickly and incisively.

Second caveat I suppose being we've seen plenty of teams carve us open since, maybe more to do with us being shite ...

Remember Dougie Freedman being 33/1. Sat on my dinner break at work and watched his odds tumble by the second as folk were lumping on.

Sure @Garrpsaid his gaffs had a flurry of bets in South London.

Quite a mad market really.

Surprised it's allowed because someone somewhere will always know something.

In essence you're betting on an outcome that's probably already been decided in one way or another.

I'm surprised that Gareth Ainsworth hasn't had a mention. His teams not only play attacking football, but are tough. Something that we've been missing for a while.

I like Ainsworth as a character and no doubt he's got something about him.  Shrewsbury under him already have more "big" league wins in 2 months than IE managed in about 3 years (v Birmingham & Wrexham).  But is he just a plucky underdog good at stopping the bigger teams?  At QPR I thought he'd do well, seemed a perfect fit.  He hardly won a game.  Lost last 6 and got sacked with them 2nd bottom.  So where he's unproven is leading a team when they're expected to win most weeks (not saying QPR are, but higher expectations than his other clubs).

Where did I say I was backing anyone ? Just a simple observation that ‘laying’ favourites in next manager betting makes you money.

We could approach Northampton if the board thought he was their man.

Ok he hasn't been there long, but it is no different to anyone else currently in post.

They could replace him with Evatt!

For one I don't personally think he's done anything to suggest he's good enough for us.  But I'd prefer us to stay well clear of a "legend" coming back.  I'd include Frandsen, Bergsson, SKD in that, because at some point it will turn and the relationship will sour.  Coyle used to be one of our all time favourite characters (if not players) and now his name is mud.  Imagine if that had been McGinlay or Walker, they'd never be welcome here again.  Can we just choose from the other 50 options and stay clear of ex legends.

I'm not sure I can handle anymore possession based football with clevershite formations and analytics.

I don't ever want to see us play 5 at the back again for as long as we exist as a football club either.

Hammering the basics gets you out of this division.

A couple of things.

He's got a heck of a lot of experience, from playing under Sam, and coaching under Moyes. Had a touch of actual management experience.

Also, if, as said above, he'd love to have a go here, then that passion should be a very useful tool.

Additionally, whilst I do think a man with some more experience is preferable, someone like Nobby could fit the bill if they're wanting to stick with the younger, up and coming guys, with a desire to succeed.

Evatt was hardly a proven man, and was appointed on the back of his positive performance at Barrow over a fairly short period of time.

Doesn't matter in the end though, they'll make a decision and we'll just have to get behind it.

Simply successful will do though.

Gerry Taggart made a few grand off Megson leaving Leicester for us when he was there.

One of my abiding memories of Schumacher was when we drew 0-0 with them at home in L1, we footballed them to death and were all over them right into injury time. They found a way to take a point though, through a mix of good goalkeeping, last ditch defending and some A-grade shithousing.

Different tale of course at Wembley when the circumstances of the game were much more agreeable to us.

I'd be happy seeing us be even B-grade shithouses instead of being the weakest team in the league but with the most yellow cards

I’d still like possession football with a bit more oomph. Agressive and attacking. I couldn’t watch if we just sat back with 30% possession. It’s boring. It was like that under Parkinson and it bored me. We’d go one nil up then sit back for most of the game

@HazzyinBolton who occasionally posts on here is alladyce's nephew

He used to give him the heads up on his next job and then off to the bookies he'd go and lump on it

Tbf that was because we were way out of our depth in that second Championship season.

We were actually quite entertaining in League One, especially with Morais getting balls in the box.
