I’d give it Darby till the end of the season. Happy to hear why he shouldn’t get it

Not sure he even wants it. He isn't that young neither and may be happy with his lot.

Pressure of still pushing for promotion, is different to a one off game.

The romantic in me says yes, give it to him.

The pragmatist says no.

To be honest up until he got the caretaker role it hadn’t crossed my mind, but now I’m thinking why not? We ain’t getting a big successful manager, others being mentioned are prospects, JD till the end of the season could be the perfect fix.

It would be great for JD till end of season but I think we need someone in now to assess the squad and go into transfer window in summer with a list of who they want

He has zero experience and we really need to get out of this league

Today was great but whilst he did well I reckon much of it was down to the black cloud that was Evatt having cleared

Otherwise why not just give it him full time rather than for 4 months

He doesn't want it, and I don't blame him. Absolutely great bloke who clearly loves the club, but he'd be a shell of a man after a few months in the job.

Yeah, I'd agree with that

A coach and a manager are different roles

And also, we should still be aiming to salvage our aim to get promoted and a caretaker until the summer would be the wrong move

He's never managed before.

It was one game.

I’m sure if he was asked to do it till the end of the season he would.

Every single manager in world football has been in this position.

And what a way to start.

Schumacher odds are shortening Gary ONeil now 4-1

Thought Spiderman said O'neil would be unmasked on Monday or something ?

They have been, but at a much younger age.

I'm in agreement that if they asked him, he would do it until the end of the season, although maybe reluctantly.

Between the three of them they clearly have something: spot what the opposition can do, combat it and then add a bit of your own quality.

Perhaps harnessing that is the best way forward.

Maybe that’s why we have been seeing some of these so called up and coming managers fail miserably?

I reckon it’s a good  shout till the end of the season, gives the board more time to look for someone else

Also risk missing out on someone: through indicision pissing someone off that you may have interviewed or them going elsewhere.

May also still be in the same situation, with no one better available.

The only reason I can see for it, is if someone agrees to the job, but wants to see out the season in their current role.

Exactly.  If we get a sniff of play offs there will be pressure games, and games we maybe should win that we don't.  Then questioning the management and fans on his back.  Even if we make the play offs, that's 2 or 3 huge pressure games for a manager with literally no experience of that position.  Anyway its not happening, not sure why we're even discussing it 😀

As long as the incomer keeps him on in the job he's got. We don't need a further clear out.

I'd like to see him still in charge for Tuesday.

Not sure I do I’d rather a decision came way before that because time in this window is running out. If an appointment is confirmed I have no issue with JD still taking the team for Tuesday whilst the new man works behind the scenes with Markham on bringing any new faces in.

Agreed but he might get a taste for it if we do well on Tuesday... ?
