nothing to worry about here if the form guide is anything to go by

Brum were shite yesterday as well apparently

bring them both on

Yes Brum were awful and lost yet another main striker to injury so we could be playing them at just the right time? See the first Hollywood off on Saturday and we could then dent another plot line at the Reebok. Looking forward to next week now and a scary looking run on paper may turn out less than scary in practise?

Wrexham were poor first half today & got a crabby own goal.

They were poor midweek v Orient .

second half today they were very decent & deserved their win .

might be an interesting contest next week but don’t think we’ll get away with winging it for forty five minutes & falling behind again.

no expectations though this season , just going to enjoy the ride.

They looked better second half because Mansfield were absolute shite most definitely the worst and weakest team I’ve watched this season. We won’t be like Mansfield si I’ve every confidence we’ll do them and take the points.

I do hope you are correct.

Still trying to work out which of the two teams will be Forward, forward, wide, retreat, defend, defend?

Parky had a commendable feature of getting absolutely everything out of a side that plays pretty poorly in most matches. Makes them hard to score against and score goals out of nothing. I guess that is why they are 3rd.

Which makes it strange to say that they are quite a poor footballing side. They can get dominated or be 2nd best, have not much possession or shots on goal and still can grind out a win. Makes them very hard to beat and again, you've got to give credit to Parky.

We all know more than anyone how he sets up, not pleasing on the eye but gets results, fair play.

I'd like think that we learnt a lot from the cup game the other week, where like seen before with Wrexham, we outplayed them, especially in the 1st half we looked a level above. But in a very predictable Bolton way, we didn't score and then conceded and lost 1-0.

Even though we are still conceding, I think the defense have really been at it recently and they will be expected to head and defend a barrage of crosses.

If we cut out Wrexham's width then they simply don't have the facilities to play through us they are not that type of team.

I'm super confident actually and more so even excited at these next 2 games. We've got nothing to lose and we can go for it.

The past 3 seasons they've perfected the art of the late goal.

Like we did, under Parky, in that promotion season.

Fitness, perhaps?
Fitter teams score more late goals.

I've just watched the highlights and if that's them playing poorly I hope they don't play well against us.  Looks like they could have won about 6-2.  Cleworth that scored the winner has got a shot on him, as have Rathbone and Lee.  Surprisingly little evidence in the highlights of them being physical and winning headers, seemed to play down the left wing a lot and get low crosses in (McLean not in squad).

these played on Sunday and then have the Papa Johns Semi Final on Wednesday. Let's hope they're knackered by the time they play us on Saturday

That's a nice little bonus, hopefully they win and all they can think about is Wembley

It’s not that anybody said that Wrexham played poorly just that Mansfield were so poor anybody would have looked good against them. Wrexham’s first the own goal was ridiculous, the Mansfield guy must have had a brain freeze and their second and winner was classic poor defending they just parted like the Red Sea and allowed Cleworth all the time and space he needed to run through and shoot. Wrexham are obviously a decent side but nothing special and if we’re on it there’s no reason we can’t get the three points on Saturday.

I'm glad we've got a game on Wednesday. When we get a long (in football terms)period of time without a game in the main we're dreadful in the next league game. Happened so many times.

Saturday could be a real humdinger.

That cup game the other week means nowt. The teams we'll see on Saturday will be different and the game will be ultra competitive.

We've got so many late goals under Parky its unreal. We've conceded a few ourselves though.

We've managed to creep slowly into some sort of form again after having a poor January and Feb form and results wise.

Who's the worst side you played this season? For me its Northampton. They made Mansfield look good.

Agreed their 1st goal was a freakish OG and yes they are definitely beatable.  Slightly reassuring that they didn't seem to be overly physical, if they want to play us at something resembling football I'm confident we'll more than hold our own.

On their winning goal, parting like the Red Sea is the modern way, not marking is good enough for Man City so we're all doing it!  We gave a virtually identical chance to Orient in injury time, they had 2 bites at the cherry from a similar position as Cleworth but thankfully didn't finish with his power and accuracy.  But when you leave players unmarked on the edge its in the lap of the gods whether that player is on form (like the Shrewsbury guy was twice last year), you're no longer influencing the scoreline for that couple of seconds.

IMO the worst performance against us was Northampton.  We went 4-0 up without breaking sweat (finished 4-2), they were defending somewhere near the halfway line so we kept breaking through their "defence" with 1 or 2 passes.  They had improved when they came here with Nolan as manager but scored an OG very similar to the one Mansfield gave you to help us win.

Peterboro the only truly poor side to come here this season, didn't lay a glove on us from what I remember.

As @1969 says, we are easily the worst side I've seen this season - take your pick from Huddersfield (0-4), Wigan (0-2), Stockport (0-5), Exeter (0-2), Rotherham (1-3).  Nobody has played as bad against us as we played in those.

Olly Rathbone used to be at Rochdale who I do watch on occasion as they are now my nearest club. He has turned into a very good footballer. Many others seem to think that because Parky manages them they are not a good side and don't play good football. Both are incorrect in my opinion. In fact I'm not even sure what football that is 'pleasing on the eye' really is as an earlier poster mentioned. A cross and a goal would certainly please my eye 🙂

Pleasing on the eye football firstly is winning football. After that just doing the basics right.

The rest is subjective to me there's more joy in a hard fought late winner 1-0 win than thumping someone 6-0. Some people prefer intricate passing and build up football other love old quick wingers sticking it in the mixer. Which is best is as debatable as the old Messi v Ronaldo argument

Despite tonight’s results and the fact that Orient are playing Charlton on Saturday I’m still not tempted to get too involved in talk about the playoffs, but it does bring this game and the Brum game into sharper focus, not just for the opportunity to move up a place or two - or fall further back - but for the potential season-defining psychological impact the results of these two games will have on the players.

The wait for 12.30 Saturday is really starting to get to me.
