Cleary is clearly (😂) their biggest threat and neither Christie ( for pace) and Tutu ( based on second half v Dons) are our strongest .  But if we get them on back foot and push on will be fine *  * assuming we can kick straight with a bit of power in front of goal Which is why despite being at home I wouldn’t ditch the 3 centre backs against these. They don’t only have Cleary, good as he is, theres also Philips, Banks and McGoldrick who are serious threats. They’re not the best at the back though and the keepers questionable so rather let’s keep a strong defence and let our forwards rip into them. Quote

Based on my scouting mission last night, I don’t think McGoldrick plays, I think they’ll sit deep and try and use Cleary and Banks on the wings to break. Cleary didn’t have a great game but you can see why he has the highest number of assists in the league - stop him (match him up with pace) and they really don’t have much else. It’ll be interesting to see if Connell is back off the naughty step. Last night couldn’t really have gone much better for us. Morale got hit with a late equaliser to a team they’d expect to beat, crowd on their back, weather was terrible, pitch looked heavy and likely took it out of their legs and their 38 year old striker in form played his second 90 mins in 4 days which for me makes him highly unlikely to play against us. 4-0 Bolton! Dalby, Apter x2, Kenny Quote

It was tongue in cheek TBH, just picking up on the usual "we need to score 1st" stuff that gets aired every single game, probably by fans of all 92 clubs. Not you BTW, every fan of every team comes up with it and I'm no different, in the Colin Todd team for eg if we conceded I always assumed we'd just take a bit longer to get ahead, but its a different game now, first goal is massive. To answer your question, who is the renovated strikeforce for this particular game? I'm expecting the same team as at Wimbledon which is fine, they played well. But also people are soon forgetting our best attacker/creator this season is currently injured and we are struggling for goalscorers, are you expecting us to bag 3 or 4 on Saturday with largely the same team that has only been scoring 1's and 2's against teams arguably worse than Barnsley? I'm only talking about this 1 game, not the rest of the season when new signings will be bedded in. Quote

You say same team so all of Conway, Sheehan, Simons, Gale, Rodriquez and Kenny do not start.......We will have some bench Quote

And yes, we will have some bench whoever starts, definitely. Quote

Whitesince63 Posted February 4 Posted February 4 Much discontent at Barnsley and probably not helped with last nights result. Fans have every right to be unhappy letting DKD go and only replacing him with 33 year old injury prone ex Tyke Tom Bradshaw giving a total age for their strike force of 71 years!. Who knows what will happen with Luca who apparently had a move lined up which was then pulled leading to his reputed strop? Could he have been heading here instead of our Scottish target which failed? Who knows but surely in the state they’re in and without McGoldrick fit to start we won’t get a better chance to hump them? This could be the game when things finally go right and the players for once find their shooting boots? Quote

And in the summer it was widely reported that Wycombe bid £1.2mil for him. Presumably he's been anticipating a pay rise and longer contract and its not happened, but no suggestion we were in for him. In another world he should have been here for the last 7 years not Celtic U20s and Barnsley. Dr. Feelgood Posted February 4 Posted February 4 Connell had been in discussions with Luton. The clubs couldn't strike a deal & he was told that on Tuesday. Quote

He's still only 24 ! Under contract at Barnsley until June 30, 2027. He signed a four-year contract extension in July 2023, which also has a club option for an additional year. So if he's dissatisfied with his income it's sort of out of his hands. ... & his fault. They were asking £1.2m 12m ago. That apart I'd still have him. Just the sort of midfield shithouse we needed through the Evatt years. Quote

(genuine question). Either way the defence is basically what its been all season (no reinforcements), and why wouldn't it be, it doesn't need to be improved especially at home, we've hardly conceded any. I think the chat was about making us more potent up front. The 2 big changes for this week are CBT and Apter for Gale and ACD - 2 good signings, hopefully an upgrade but they are hardly replacing poor players. Not sure why "no Sheehan or Simons"? Sheehan a must for me, and Simons interchangeable with EE, neither are consistent but are great on their day. McAtee has played the last 3 games, and we've seen the improvement, long may it continue. Yes SS does have more options up front once the new players are integrated, for this week we might have to be patient. If there are changes compared to Wimbledon I'd expect it to be the tried and trusted that have played loads. Quote
