Didledee Posted October 16, 2011 Posted October 16, 2011 Watched Skyline last night. Dont bother a load of shite, nearly as bad as prince of persia. Both were quality imo, love special effects movies me. Quote
Smiley Posted October 16, 2011 Author Posted October 16, 2011 Took the kids to watch Johnny English Reborn today...... have to say it was pretty funny. Quote
Danny G Posted October 16, 2011 Posted October 16, 2011 I had to watch a chick flick with the Mrs the other night ( her turn to pick) ended up watching The Ugly Truth, it was very funny actually, I was surprised! Quote
L/H White Posted October 16, 2011 Posted October 16, 2011 Not really a film, but didnt want to correct a thread for it. anyway, i've been watching entourage lately, I know it first aired on HBO years ago, but only just got round to it. Brilliant show, well worth a watch Quote
Boothy Posted October 16, 2011 Posted October 16, 2011 Seen every ep it peaks after series 3 but still one of best shows on the box Quote
L/H White Posted October 16, 2011 Posted October 16, 2011 Seen every ep it peaks after series 3 but still one of best shows on the box I'm a quarter of the way into season 3 Quote
barryk32 Posted October 17, 2011 Posted October 17, 2011 Saw In Bruges for the first time last night, which is piss poor for someone who claims to be a bit of a film geek. It's brilliant, absolutely brilliant. Quote
MickyD Posted October 17, 2011 Posted October 17, 2011 watched dances With wolves last night for first time. Only saw it from half way through tough. shame BBC2 +1 isn't around. Can't wait until it comes back on again so I can see the start. Quote

Loft Nuthouse Posted October 17, 2011 Posted October 17, 2011 In Bruges, best film this last two years. Quote
barryk32 Posted October 17, 2011 Posted October 17, 2011 Just watched Captain America. Shite, the bike chase scene in the woods was such a huge blatant rip off of Return of the Jedi, I felt embarrassed watching it. Quote
QFPants Posted October 18, 2011 Posted October 18, 2011 In Bruges, best film this last two years. I'm sure it's a lot older than 2 years, great film though Quote

Shite, the bike chase scene in the woods was such a huge blatant rip off of Return of the Jedi, I felt embarrassed watching it. As a comic geek I didn't like how they had the Human Torch playing Captain America. I thought it was an ok film for what it was, a scene setter for folk who didn't know the story behind captain America in preparation for Joss Whedons Avengers. Quote
Matt Lofthouse Posted October 18, 2011 Posted October 18, 2011 Both were quality imo, love special effects movies me. Me too, but I also like a bit of a storyline with my films. Just a couple of reviews below, I found to encourage other veiwers: Skyline ?What a horrible waste of an hour and a half! Typical american film with no storyline, far too much sentimental rubbish and of course L.A. is the centre of the universe. Do yourself a big favour and don't watch this film, it's dreadful.? ?I want my money back! It's been a while since I saw such a piece of shit.? ?What made it so painful? Horrible acting, and a very weak (if non existing) storyline. In this age where content is king, putting a few pretty pieces of special effects on the screen isn't going to cut it.? Quote

I was going to put something similar as I turned it off halfway through it was that bad. Then I remembered that nobody pays any attention to Diddles anyway, so I didn't need to bother. Quote
barryk32 Posted October 19, 2011 Posted October 19, 2011 Red State. Kevin Smiths latest. Moves away from comedy and into action. Didn't need to pay any attention, just sat back and enjoyed it. What caused me to watch it was a quote from Tarantino saying "I f***ing love this movie!". Its very Tarantinoish. Quote
DazBob Posted October 19, 2011 Posted October 19, 2011 (edited) I'm sure I'll come in for some abuse for this by the culture snobs, but I watched Real Steel tonight. The non-cunty Aussie, Hugh Jackman, is in it. It's an unashamedly cheesy rip-off of Rocky 3,4 and Balboa ... but with a robot as the fighter, but I really enjoyed it. DazBob Posted October 20, 2011 Posted October 20, 2011 Rock em sock em robots the movie? It does look fun tbh. Yeah, that's the one. Was telling someone about it this morning and could feel I was smiling as I was doing so. Tis on of them find you can just switch your brain off for a couple of hours. Good clean fun too. At the other end of the scale I watched Hobo With Shotgun recently. Certainly NOT good clean fun but fun nonetheless. Very gory, graphic B-movie/grindhouse type of film. Quote

Theboybell Posted October 20, 2011 Posted October 20, 2011 Expect Grief being sent my way, but watched The Lion King 3D yesterday part of the mrs birthday effort. So as it stands the first ever film I watched at the cinema is the same as the last film I watched at the pictures. Quote
