Juan.Kerr
I remember going there for an evening cup-tie - on a Soccer Special! There were a few more there that evening. Long time ago. :-) Me too. We had a good drink with them in a nearby pub. Good banter for the time, Later there were some Chelsea fans trying to set fire to peoples coats that night as I recall. ( insert blazer and smoking jacket joke of your choice).

Long time ago. :-) Were you with us when we encountered them gooners under the main stand V? We'd done the Shed and were heading to the North Stand to seek out Wotsisname with the staircase nose. One of the gooners pissed himself (literally) when we went for em. Chelsea lot in the North Stand turned out to be decent blokes and we had a few shandies with em after the 1-1- draw. Graham Rowe scored if I remember rightly. Smashed us 6-0 in the replay at Burnden. Was that the year they went on to win it v Leeds in an Old Trafford replay? 1970? Take Hunt Off
Remember going to the fa cup match the same season they beat us easily 3-0 but were'nt so friendly on that end opposite the shed it was a bit of a inbalance numbers wise & we got a slight pasting but could have been worse if the old bill had'nt weighed in & turfed most of us out ! I think we upset one or two earlier by singing bolton songs on stage at the pub closest to the end we were on , Also went when we were relegated under CT much older then but there were still one or two of theirs sniffing even though we were fully shirted,
Moderators Zico Posted July 16, 2013 Moderators Share Posted July 16, 2013 can't find any old pics but remember they used to have cars parked behind the goals between the pitch and shed end, which was a far way from the pitch back then

bolton va va
Remember going to the fa cup match the same season they beat us easily 3-0 but were'nt so friendly on that end opposite the shed it was a bit of a inbalance numbers wise & we got a slight pasting but could have been worse if the old bill had'nt weighed in & turfed most of us out ! The FA cup game was extremely unfriendly with Bolton fans having a very hard time. I went & stood next to an official looking bloke in a white coat, but when he turned round, it had "Chelsea Boot Boys" (or similar ) written on the back.- butchers' coats weren't worn at Bolton then - but fortunately for me , I was young enough to be left alone. A few years later, i was there for the 1-0 win. There were less than a hundred Bolton lads there & we started off in the middle of the open end right behind the goals, but we were well outnumbered by Chelsea fans & finished up right in the corner pushed against the fence. At that point (we were winning 1-0, but i can't remember our goal ) Siddall saved a late Chelsea penalty & the cockney cants got really excitable .It was a bit scary outside & I believe the cockneys even tried to get on the Bolton coaches, so the police moved them out quickly....leaving a few Bolton fans behind. We managed to smuggle one of them back on the overnight coach. Happy days. The worst trip was the relegation game. Playing against a team who only wanted to avoid injuries, & their fans were happy for us to win, we put up a spineless performance & went down without a fight. After the game the coach I was on stayed late drinking and quite a few Bolton went rioting round the streets. They were waiting for the FA Cup game and as you said some Bolton got a pasting. Lever Ender in L.A.
they came to meet us at Euston station as we got off the footy special for the midweek league cup game...always remember one of them shouting "Fackin ell theres Fackin thousands of em" as we chased them all over Euston....thats when the famous "Bolton took the Shed"sign was painted on the wall...we would have avoided the embarrassing replay if Rowe had stayed down in the final minute and took the nailed on penalty...but they were honest players in those days and he got up and made a balls up of it....think most of us got a shoeing at the F.A. cup game as they knew we coming in numbers again...and they sent out for new recruits

athywhite1958
6th December 1975 sticks in my memory because it bloody well hurt, our coach was delayed at Hyde Park corner and as we arrived at the ground the Chelsea fans were coming out of the ground to meet us, w ewere 1-0 up and they weren't happy, but , I took a good hiding for the team, after the game they tried to get on our coach too, happy[painful] days the 70's

Were Bolton fans organised back then for the trouble or was it just a day out on the piss and see what happens? More a case of certain mobs from different areas of Bolton. As Zulu will confirm, we had a Tonge Moor/Tonge Fold/Breightmet loose alliance thing going on when it came to following BWFC. In general though in those days, we had a largely skinhead/suedehead/smoothie type following who were as game as they come. Didn't matter where we were playing - even midweek matches of substance would usually have a good away following. You start to sound like your average hoolie book writer of more recent times but I assure you, we were a respected force to be reckoned with in those days. We seemed to have a higher average of nutters than most.

Before the game was ok no probs at all walking round the ground no mither. In the ground was mad and coming out was frightening, after the match being escorted throught the Shed End and it was still half full. We were getting chased all over outside the ground going back to the coaches and when I finally made it back to our coach the cheeky bastards were sat on it waiting for us. Come on then you northern cunts was the cry as they ran down OUR COACH at us, im not too sure what happened but I do remember the back window getting smashed by them as they chased the coach through the streets. Also remember picking up a few lads who were getting chased as we drove down the streets, eeeeeeeeeeeeeeh it were fun in them days.
Mounts Kipper
All this hassle with Chelsea before my time must have played a part in the shenanigans on the old open end at Fulham in 75/6 as a 11 year old lad I'd travelled on the supporters club on my own it was a lovely sunny day I was dressed in my wide bottom trousers and Royals thinking I was the dogs bollox, stood behind the goal prior to kick off when from behind a big CHELSEA chant went up, I looked round to see a mob of blokes windmilling through the Bolton fans the sparks flying off my segs (think thats we called the metal tips to protect the soles) as I left my viewpoint with indecent haste before I had my nose broken. The police gradually restored order and the game seemed to go peacefully, I'm blaming Bolty and the old boys for this close call with the Chelsea mob. Plenty will remember their pitch invasion at Burnden. They chased the dings out of the Lever End but weren't game enough to have a go at the Burnden Paddock. I suppose that was me and the old boys fault too? Edited July 19, 2013 by bolty58

I was in the Lever end when that happened but not for long got chased out of the turnstiles on the manny road side, got back in on the lever end but from the turnstile near the paddock there were plenty of Chelsea mixed in with Bolton but not enough to get the upper hand, while all the time Bolty was hiding in the paddock:) By the way what's a Ding? Members bolty58
Hiding?? We were inviting the little shits in but they weren't too game. Thick fuckers were throwing full cans of ale at us from the pitch. Even thicker fuckers in the Paddock were opening them trying to drink with painters radio like results. I have one abiding memory of a St Johns Ambulance man on the halfway line getting kicked up the arse by a passing Chelsea fan. St. John uproots the halfway flag pole, clouts the Chelsea fan round the head with it then tends to his wound. Making his own business. Brilliant! I'll try to make this easy for you Mounts. I believe the contemporary term for 'dings' is 'yoof'.
