Site Supporter MickyD Posted August 19, 2014 Site Supporter Share Posted August 19, 2014 If you're talking about the fan in WSL they weren't ejected they walked out. Police asked them to make less noise. Then told them that the sports Ground Act stated they must sit down at a football match. One of them pointed at the Boro fans all standing and wished the copper good luck with his policing of the Sports Ground Act. all very funny. They kicked off with the stewards underneath. Aye that's the ones, I didn't see them depart, was told they were escorted out. Obviously wrong info. I'd say walking out is just as bad mind. SnoopJohnnyJohn
Wheater for Davies upfront; comedy genius See, now why would you make a comment like this? - Davies was replaced by Beckford, not Wheater. - Wheater was pushed up in the last 10 minutes to try and help get a goal. He scored in the last game by this tactic, and almost scored against Bury too. - If Wheater would have scored an equalising goal, you wouldn't have said a word. I'm aware people have angry reactions to losing, and I can understand the frustration, but putting comments like this out there kind of negates any kind of credibility your opinion may have had. Rembrandt
So apart from Davies and Bogdan was there any others who did OK tonight? I though CYL was lively.
Rembrandt
He's a bad un all right but in his defence the club have used him to rip out all the high earners think he's a bit of a sacrificial lamb, so there's a chance he might do a reasonable job elsewhere, think he knows the club have used him now as well. I wouldn't argue with you there, but :- a ) He must have had some idea of what was going on here when he came in. b ) Even accepting all that, I still think these players could form a more effective team than we're seeing. davidjack
I'm desperate to find the positives, but I just can't. He's had 2 pre-seasons now and we've started both seasons like a bunch of individuals who don't know what they're doing, where they should be playing, who they're likely to be playing with from one game to the next. I've seen all 4 games so far and apart from the odd 10 minutes here and there, the quality of our play has been abysmal. Lump it long, give it away, don't close the opposition down, offer no movement for the man in possession. And we're leaking goals. Basically, we're a shambles. I see no signs of improvement, or of a plan to get us out of this mess. Keep talking us down as a lowly bunch of honest pros, and talking up the opposition as world beaters isn't doing it for me either. The fans, I think, have been very patient. There were only boos on the whistle tonight. But more of this and there'll be hardly anyone left to boo. Just above 12.5k home fans tonight - we've already lost a good 1500 fans from last season, after 3 games. How is what's on offer likely to tempt them back? Get shut. Now. Before it really is too late.

Site Supporter Biggish Dave Posted August 20, 2014 Site Supporter Share Posted August 20, 2014 1 thing which bugs me is we never have control of the midfield. Every team seems to have miles more time on the ball than we ever do. Spearing does his work 5 yards in front of the defence and 50 yards behind the front men. I'm no football manager but I'm convinced we need to push our middle men forward a bit and squeeze a game more, especially at home
Site Supporter MickyD Posted August 20, 2014 Site Supporter Share Posted August 20, 2014 Did Spearing actually make a pass to a Bolton player? Is it the curse of the Captain's armband. . . again?

HR
Let's all blame the fans again eh? Numpty No need. That's not what I said. At least he isn't carrying on playing Beckford up on his own and Medo / Spearing holding hands. Boro and Forest have spent fortunes thus summer compared to us and we have been two bad refereeing decisions away from getting positive results from both. That said, for me DF has 10 games to get a minimum of 10 points or he should be potted. Until the 10 games are up I'm trying to stay positive as there's little chance he's going to be sacked before. superkev
I've chilled out a bit after last night. Before they scored their 2nd last night I thought we were playing pretty well and at least looking like we might grab a winner. I wasn't pissed of really with the performance more the fact that Boro didn't threaten once in the second half yet pop up with a winner. It's very frustrating and I'm just hoping we get some threatening players in to cause more havoc at the top end because at the moment we are pretty toothless. What little chances we have need to be taken ie C Davies chance against Forest and Whoever didn't hit the target when Chungy cut it back. tylswhite
We didn't play great and made the same mistakes as usual but we were damn unlucky. That ref was an utter cunt and the linesman who gave that penalty clearly has no clue about football. Sadly for Douglas these excuses are wearing a bit thin now. I thought most players did ok but as per usual we sat back after taking the lead inviting pressure and we missed our chances when they came. Davies played well and caused loads of problems. Trotter had a good game in midfield and I thought Chungy played well but we need to get him on the ball further forward. Feeney was fucking wank and Ream struggled but again he has an excuse. Other than that the rest were ok or better imo. Mason really needs to start reading Davies knock downs though. One thing I have noticed is how slow and badly we move the ball around compared to every team we play. Even Bury showed us up in that department and we will never have long term success if we don't pass the ball faster and better imo.
SnoopJohnnyJohn
Why take off a proven goal scorer and put a defender in his place?? Surely take off a defender and have 3 strikers Wake the fuck up Maybe the proven goalscorer (both of his goals this season are penalties, but whatever) was tired and wasn't making the right runs any more, so he replaced him with another "proven" goalscorer (our top scorer last season, as it happens). Then he pushed Wheater up when we are chasing the game, as he HAS scored from open play this season (and had another couple of good chances to score) when he's been asked to do that job. I'm not defending all of DF's decisions as some of them are quite baffling, but for you (and others) to be questioning this particular move screams that you'll just moan about literally anything now. But then again, what do I know from another country right? I haven't got the playing experience you have, I guess...
ex_midlandwhite
The thing is the Wheater move nearly worked with him knocking it down to Beckford only for the ref to rule it out. As for the crowds, they are just getting back to the pre premier league hangers on levels, similar to 1999/2000. No reason to think the crowds won't return with success (or when Megson is sacked)
Site Supporter Ratwhite Posted August 20, 2014 Author Site Supporter Share Posted August 20, 2014 (edited) Penalty should have been a red - no excuses FACT - number 5) Sending-off offences (From FA Website) A player, substitute or substituted player is sent off if he commits any of the following seven offences: 1) serious foul play 2) violent conduct 3) spitting at an opponent or any other person 4) denying the opposing team a goal or an obvious goalscoring opportunity by deliberately handling the ball (this does not apply to a goalkeeper within his own penalty area) 5) denying an obvious goalscoring opportunity to an opponent moving towards the player's goal by an offence punishable by a free kick or a penalty kick Thought Trotter, CYL, Bgdan, Wheater, Mills, Davies and Ream played well. Team as a whole not bad. McNaughton, Feeney and Spearing we're poor No point harping on about, we didnt get the rub last night. We move on. Even Bury showed us up in that department and we will never have long term success if we don't pass the ball faster and better imo. The ref was a cunt, but I don't get this "we were really unlucky" view...we were fucking dire; We had 38% possession at home. They had 20 shots too according to BBC, whereas we had 11. Yes a red card would've made a massive difference, but we still LET them have the opportunity to make the most of our mistakes and the ref's bad decisions... Re: Mason not reading Davies' knockdowns, there's a clear reason for this....when we played Forest and had Danns at the top of the diamond he swept up the balls in that space allowing Mason to play on their defenders' shoulders, whereas last night the ever immobile Trotter (good game?! Fuck me, his night was summed up when he tried to control a ball that came down on his sedefoot and it rolled up his shin and off to a Boro player) and the increasingly frustrated Spearing were yards off the game and too deep...therefore Mason spent a lot of the night deeper in that space that Danns was in on Saturday. We were back to long diagonal balls from the defenders last night; it was fucking awful. For long spells that was worse than Coyle's shite. I'll repeat what I posted early on last night - 3 games; 3 different formations; 3 different "partners" for Spearing...none of that is down to financial restrictions or the players not being "Dougie's men". It's absolutely fucking woeful and this Manager is a cock-end. It's an absolute shambles I can't wait for the rest of this season of "honest group of players", "uncharacteristic mistakes" and the rest of DF's bullshit mantra
