Popular Post Pablo Posted April 25, 2025 Popular Post Posted April 25, 2025 (edited) 2 players that Bolton had early on (both 20/21 now)....looked so so so far above that level that they went to Everton & Man City as soon as they showed interest...1 for £100k fee. Both same age, both got pro deals at City & Everton, the City lad left last year for Norwich, and plays U21 footy can't get a sniff. Lad at Everton think got 3 year pro...also can't get a sniff in u21 team now. Even these 2 will prob end up lower football league players, maybe even drop further down. But, both are already relatively rich and should be set for a few years, also got a really good education, and jobs for parents. Pro deal for kids at Bolton V Pro deals at prem clubs is a world of difference - and not many of them prem ones will make top prem players. Edited April 25, 2025 by Pablo Quote
boltonboris Posted April 25, 2025 Posted April 25, 2025 Luca Navarro was a player doing very well in our U18's a while back. Part of a winning team, was tipped as one of those most likely to make it into the senior set up. Now can't get a start at Radcliffe Boro. Another Radcliffe player, is Tom Walker. Played multiple first team games for us in the second tier and just completely fell away from the pro game, most likely due to his athleticism. You just never know. As already mentioned, throwing some of these players in now, when they're not ready would be more harmful than beneficial. Jules Darby was hesitant to highlight anybody in his set-up with real potential. That probably suggests something.. Quote
tomski Posted April 25, 2025 Posted April 25, 2025 Posts above are spot on. These lads will be miles off it Quote

He may not play at a higher level but at least he’s shown he can hack a season at L2 level. Quote

TrickyTrotter Posted April 26, 2025 Posted April 26, 2025 Interesting that neither Big Dave nor Big Lewis have come through the normal academy route. So maybe that’s our niche. Would love the club to have a thriving academy playing at a higher level for youngsters, but it would cost millions of pounds and take 10 years, and the best would still be off to prem or champ clubs at the first opportunity. Ani Posted April 26, 2025 Posted April 26, 2025 Having watched Big Dave and SSA last week they are both miles off what is needed. That is not slagging them off, they are young and inexperienced. Let’s be honest they are only on the pitch because the grown ups have failed. Both may mature and become decent players but chucking them in now and hoping is pretty tough on them, it might make them but peoples expectations have to be realistic Having said that Big Dave clearly got last touch on our first goal at Lincoln so why was nt it credited to him ? Even if it came off his hand. ? Quote

Talking of random routes into football Was reading up on that Kone at Wycombe the other day In 2019, after arriving in the United Kingdom to play in the Homeless World Cup, Kone began playing for Lopes Tavares, later to be renamed Athletic Newham Quote

I do get your general point but disagree that giving a couple a game or two now that our season is finished could ruin someone. If they go out & perform well, what a boost. If they have no joy, nothing is lost so long as it's been managed well. Quote

BOWTUN BAKED Posted April 26, 2025 Posted April 26, 2025 Get rid of Steejay, I'm surprised they're still letting him out of the care home without medical supervision. Keep Marc505, he's got a plan for Notts County away if they go up. Quote
