Krimzon Posted March 6, 2013 Posted March 6, 2013 How is a natural finisher different to someone who is simply very good at finishing? Always wondered that. It always struck me as a term for a lazy cunt (a la Klasnic) who did nowt but hang around waiting for chances and, because he's a good finisher, would often score when the chance came along. I would say there is a subtle but very important difference. Gary lineker was a natural finisher, did fuck all outside the box but that wasnt what he was good at, give him the ball in the box and he stuck it away. Gerrard is a very good finisher but not a fox in the box. Out and out goal scorers have always been tarred with the lazy brush, Frankie Worthy was considered a very lazy player but would you have changed him ? Andy Walker : fox in the box , Jason Macateer up and down engine man that was (eventually) a very good finisher et al. Quote
stevieb Posted March 6, 2013 Posted March 6, 2013 Just watching the DMB highlights. Lovely. Looks like they could have won it too. Lovely. Fergie nearly having a heart attack. Lovely. Their golden boy scoring the winner. Lovely. Blaming the ref. Lovely. Quote
Carlos Posted March 6, 2013 Posted March 6, 2013 At the weekend, Crouchie did an overhead kick and knocked Matty Taylor out, I thought it was a red, don't think he got booked. Clearly the refs are all over the place on this. Quote
smithills_gent Posted March 6, 2013 Posted March 6, 2013 A turkish ref called Cuneyt took Hell to them.Fair play to the big bollocksed Turk. Quote
DazBob Posted March 6, 2013 Posted March 6, 2013 Not sure why it tickled me so much, but on the highlights show last night the camerman zoomed in on one of the Old Trafford Sikhs, looking thoroughly pissed off. Quote
jayjayoghani Posted March 6, 2013 Posted March 6, 2013 just watched the sending off totally in isolation i.e. not seen anything else from the game it's a red for me people keep saying his eyes were on the ball. these are elite footballers it doesnt matter, they are aware of whats around them Quote
Carlos Posted March 6, 2013 Posted March 6, 2013 He goes through the bloke's body. If it was his knee, no one would be complaining. Fucking ridiculous. Quote

Zico Posted March 6, 2013 Posted March 6, 2013 just watched the sending off totally in isolation i.e. not seen anything else from the game it's a red for me people keep saying his eyes were on the ball. these are elite footballers it doesnt matter, they are aware of whats around them in slow motion, from that angle, it's not a red for me as arbeloa has come in from behind on the side of his foot but, in fast motion and depending on the ref's angle, it could have looked worse but I just think it's the usual case of a foreign ref over reacting to having seen a high foot if you can't do that, you can't do an overhead kick in the box in case you hit someone it's nowt like the de jong one that's a red all day, yet he stayed on... Quote
Zico Posted March 6, 2013 Posted March 6, 2013 Driving back with Zico laughing At Tom from Guildford et al banging on about it being the worst decision ever Piss funny as is how these out of town arm chair fans always have to qualify themselves by adding "lifelong" to their status "utd fan" listen liverpool and utd fans in particular who do these phones ins have to point out they are life long fans, always Quote
HomerJay Posted March 6, 2013 Posted March 6, 2013 Red card all day long But only because its utd Heard Colina is sayings its a red card Then heard Dermott saying it wouldn't be red in this country. Fuckin ridiculous that we don't all play by the same rules And fuckin ridiculous that in Europe any high foot is seen as dangerous. Yes it may have stung at little, but dangerous? Get to fuck with your sanitised football. Quote

Carlos Posted March 6, 2013 Posted March 6, 2013 In Spain at the moment, any ball to hand is handball, even if it's volley from a foot away. PLUS you get booked! So now, defenders are going in with their arms behind their backs. Fucking ridic. Quote

Leyther_Matt Posted March 6, 2013 Posted March 6, 2013 Completely justified red card for me, no doubt his studs are raised going in to it, regardless of whether there was any intent. Although the phone ins last night were hilarious, what pissed me off upon seeing the highlights when I got back from the Reebok was that there had been fuck all mention on the radio of Rafael's cracking save on the line. Graham Poll in the paper mentioned Nani's should have been a yellow and then Rafael sent off for the handball. Evens out and all that. Quote
Traf Posted March 6, 2013 Posted March 6, 2013 It's a red for going in high with studs showing and both feet off the ground. But the secondary motion from the foot looks intentional. Quote
DazBob Posted March 6, 2013 Posted March 6, 2013 But the secondary motion from the foot looks intentional. That's what I thought too yet it seems to have been ignored by the media. There's definitely a kicking/pushing out motion as he makes contact. If the ref has seen this too then he had little choice but to give a red. The fact Nani then feigned injury strikes me as someone who knew they'd done something wrong. Quote
Zulu Posted March 6, 2013 Posted March 6, 2013 It's a red - because it's United. Bunch of cunts. Quote
darwen_white Posted March 6, 2013 Posted March 6, 2013 It's a red all day long. He can't expect to raise his foot to chest height and expect no one to be in the immediate vicinity. Quote
tomski Posted March 6, 2013 Posted March 6, 2013 ... and it could have killed Van Persie. It's amazing how whisky faces stance can change so much. They don't control referees in Europe which is unfortunate for them. Quote
passmosster Posted March 6, 2013 Posted March 6, 2013 Fuckin ridiculous that we don't all play by the same rules Disagree. It's just that continental refs don't get pressured by Ferguson before the game so that Utd. get all the decisions. Anyway, to me it's a 50:50. Certainly not the worst decision of all time or a justification for the shower of righteous indignation. And something should be done about Utd. players mobbing the ref sufficient that they don't do it again,i.e ban them from European competition for a season.. Quote

Andydee Posted March 6, 2013 Posted March 6, 2013 Don't know what all the fuss is about. There'll always be decisions that on closer inspection are wrong, it evens itself out over the season doesn't it. Have to say, seeing Fergie going apoplectic was piss funny when I got in and topped the night off nicely. Quote
