Not in Crawley
Also read Worktown, I’m still surprised to find Boltonians that haven’t.

jeep
Went in Northern Monkey last night. Had a few pints of their IPA 5%. Was lovely. Nice friendly staff, hope it does well. Would recommend. Walked in and straight out again of the other Northern one. Shithole! Went in Spoons, tired looking pub but San Miguel was ok. Finished off the night with a Curry in Achari. Top grub! A nice pleasant evening in Bolton town centre.....

Every other town centre is better.

You're supposed to just walk up Bank Street - say it's a shithole and then silently wish you were lucky enough to be born in Bury. I don't care what anybody says - I love Bolton and I love Bolton folk.

I think the point is that you walk up bank street, you turn around and don't even find out if it's shit Brilliant our council I've just been in town for 2 hours and it's just what it is Highlight is definitely the brass band Author of the book is in the market place

The vaults, Newport St Interchange, The University etc. At this rate there's every danger we'll have quite a vibrant town centre in a decade or so. I suppose they could have spent the money doing up Bank Street so that people would walk into the town centre and then realise there's nothing changed there since 1985
Moderators Casino Posted December 8, 2018 Moderators Share Posted December 8, 2018 There isn't a nice end of town You can't approach the town centre without it being a shithole Bank street is shit, bradshawgate is shit, the gateway is shit And it's not all down to money Anyway, you think it's ok, spaz thinks it's ok I disagree That's about the end of the discussion

Site Supporter MickyD Posted December 8, 2018 Site Supporter Share Posted December 8, 2018 I heard work had started on the old Odeon cinema. Then it stopped. With the emptiness of the old Moor Lane bus station it's becoming a very empty part of town. I hear the bus station is to become student accommodation. Odeon was supposed to have been a hotel but not much investment in that area.
Boby Brno
In Northern Monkey now. Off to the Vaults later when my son turns up and then we’ll try the new bar at LBTH. Ive said before that Bolton Town Centre has a great infrastructure and character but like all towns, it’s suffering from shop closures. The proposed new developments in Crompton Place and the Trinity St area offer hope for the future.

Site Supporter MickyD Posted December 8, 2018 Site Supporter Share Posted December 8, 2018 Walked past the other day. All very open plan. I've only been in the place once and got thrown out when a mate made a homophobic comment. That was in about 1985

Bank Street especially needs flattening, it has done for years. That's doesn't mean all the rest of it is shit, which is what is usually said and which is pretty much what you've just said too. You should stick to Bury. Edited December 8, 2018 by DazBob

Manchester being a perfect example
MancWanderer
Glad to hear some positive stuff for once It’s still a shithole from what I’ve seen on my occasional forays into Bolton, but it does seem that an effort is being made, and given time, and decent thinking could return to being brilliant, which it was in my younger days. Days when I never saw the need to drink, eat or shop in Manc
