The four central lanes are drawn between the 3 semi-final winners and the fastest runner-up (which MJ seemed not to know). Eric Liddell won from the outside lane (although then it was 6) in a WR in 1924. All top 3 final finishers are tested, plus one other. When it's the other way around it's somehow because they believe themselves to be genetically superior and to be the owners of some innate 'aussie battling spirit' (which is also bullshit- any unique spirit they've got is a residual benefit from their British roots - they've not been around long enough to foster one themselves). It's fuck all to do with any of those things anyway - it's because they are blessed with weather which is conducive to doing outdoor sports everyday and so much spare land that there are facilities everywhere for kids which would shame none league sides over here. So in that respect - those cunts should have twice the number of medals that we do and they probably would have if the majority of their population didn't spend the majority of their time stuffing KFC down their necks and pretending they enjoy the AFL in a vain attempt to forget out some kind of national identity for themselves.
