I think its worth noting that Reading are shopping in a different league to ourselves..... no doubt, they spent £3.5M on a striker in the summer as well though the point was more about being able to change their manager when it became apparent the previous one wasn't working out - they can afford to make the tough decisions needed to get an improvement in results we just say we can, but we can't

Moderators Zico Posted February 14, 2019 Moderators Share Posted February 14, 2019 yep, doesn't always work out but fair to say Reading have improved since making their change, and they are one of the teams we must finish above to have a chance of staying up, so them changing their manager looks like it could be pivotal in whether we can stay up or not we won't be changing managers anyway, so as radcliffe says, it's our approach that we have to work on so far so good, 100% record when starting 2 up top... We started with 2 up top v Preston last week. Amoebi and magennis... Although one of them was Ameobi

gregbwfc
What do we all think the magic number is ? Thought 46 (a big ask I know) but Reading winning might make that not enough. Don't think 43 does it this time.

Millwall are going at a point per game and I believe they are the ones likely to drop if Reading make a run for it. I can even see it taking 49 this time

SalfordOriginal
If we finish on 48 points and get relegated where does the team stand compared to the one last year? Better?

But if you're a fan of the other 5 and you're yet to beat us you'd be kicking yourself given that they've all beaten better teams than us. If we'd just got a couple of points off Burton last season it might not have gone down to the last game (I stand to be corrected).
Johnnyrotten
I'd snatch your hands off to get 43 points, it would be amazing to match last year's total with this team and lack of goalscorers. Also we don't have the crucial last game at home, we all know we'd have gone down last season if the fixtures hadn't been so kind at the end. Ipswich wont get 40 points, Rotherham will struggle to get more than 43 and then its down to us beating Millwall at home and hoping they don't get more than 12 points in their other 14 games. Hoping they stay in FA Cup of course.
birch-chorley
I can’t see us getting anywhere near 46 points, 40 would be a decent finish to the season from here Based on that we would need a complete capitulation from Millwall to catch them, don’t forget they go to Wigan on the last day, if it goes to the wire don’t expect Wigan to do us any favours You’ve just got to keep your fingers crossed that we can finish above Reading and Rotherham - I just can’t see it I’m afraid, we are too far gone
Farrelli
Reading play Rotherham and Ipswich in the next three games. I think they will get out of it. If we don't drag Millwall in then we are screwed. I'm hoping they have a bad run and are side tracked by the cup.
radcliffe white
March is a big month for us the next 3 are hard and anything would be great so we need results to go our way for the next few weeks and just maybe

Wigan aren't completely clear at the moment, a bad run and they could be vying for the last spot themselves.
Dr Faustus
is it just me who doesn't care who our rivals are playing? if every (other) game was a banker, we'd all be millionaires

Bit extreme I know but course you look to things like that as a source of optimism.
Site Supporter Spider Posted February 15, 2019 Site Supporter Share Posted February 15, 2019 Can't see us getting the points we need to stay up A lively finish to the season would be some sort of positive I suppose. As ever, it's the hope that kills. I'm more arsed about us getting some results for the sake of my lad who refuses to give up hope. He's 12 now so old enough to learn what a cunt it can be following us
Site Supporter Tonge moor green jacket Posted February 15, 2019 Site Supporter Share Posted February 15, 2019 Ultimately, it is down to us, but who knows, by a twist of fate, that game could see us over the line.
