Paint?

Hi, we want to paint our garage door black, can anyone recommend a quality paint and also what size tin to buy?

Our garage door is metal and a standard size, I've been looking at the Dulux weathershield paint, but just wanted some advice before buying.

Cheers!

Hammerite. At least that way, if you reverse the motor into the door, its harder to see the dent.

Can't believe how hard it is to find a garage door paint, Hammerite make a garage door paint, but it seems practically impossible to buy one, but they sell a metal paint, sooo confused!

Like gonzo said. Rub it down well. Use a good quality metal paint. Not sure if you'll need primer- check instructions.

Avoid doing it when its windy- can get dust in the paint.

Get someone round to do it for you. It’s what tradesmen are for

In one.

Getting decorators in was a revelation. I’ll never wield a paint brush again.

They do a miles better job in about a quarter of the time it’s take you.

When I worked out what my hourly rate was for my job was multiplied by the fucking days it takes me to paint a room, getting blokes  in seemed a bargain.

Quality is different class agreed. Looks so much better. Although we’ve just got a lad round to quote for the hall stairs and landing and he’s £1400!!! So im currently on the look out for an alternative as he’s at it I reckon.

Aye, since i went freelance i look at everything vs my hourly rate

Not arsed about a cleaner as can do bits round the house whilst on toddler duty

But I'll pay a gardener with a pro mower £20 to do my lawn in half hour rather than take 3 myself with a flymo

I'll certainly never consider doing anything that falls into the DIY category

Currently trying to decide if I can be arsed cleaning my car inside and out

Bloody hell. Prices up here are crazy for tradesmen. Be cheaper me paying for someone from back home to come up and stay in a hotel for a few days

Chap round the corner from me, always busy, and never needs to go further than the village. Reckons his van never gets out of third gear. :)

Anyway, he plans to 'retire' to Scotland in the not too distant future. Reckon he wouldn't charge that much.

I had the same problem with my van.

Tell him it probably needs topping up with gearbox oil.

Give Sherwin Williams a call they will have some stuff, they are always good advisors on paint.

Off the shelf stuff I used Dulux Metalshield on ours which has been ok, primed it with a micaceous iron oxide primer only because it’s what’s we use on our metalwork at work.

or Rust-Oleum is ok too according to this article
