Trump said if Russia rejected ceasefire they would face ‘very bad punishment.’

He withdrew military intelligence from Ukraine for breaking the White House new dress code.

Trump also said there would be hell to pay if Hamas didn’t immediately release all the hostages. Which they haven’t.

Don’t think the war will go on too much longer tbh looking at overnight photos.  With Trump pulling all the rugs from underneath them and clearly encouraging Putin to ”bomb the hell out of them” whilst turning a blind eye and slagging the Ukrainians off at every opportunity, VZ is going to be forced to capitulate regardless of what European support comes along.

History won’t forget what Trump has done. Despicable coward with innocent blood on his hands. Is this the best he could do? The art of the deal my arse.

So Putin has in principle agreed to a month cease fire which will save the lives of 100s of people if it happens.

The only person that has an actual input and positive effect on what happens after 2/3 years of war is Trump.

In the long run it will save lives. Blood on his hands ... fuck off.

Being the key words. Name a single time he's not broken an agreed peace deal.

He's already stalling and saying he wants more assurances on things

Always happy to be proved wrong and I share your desire for peace. I’m reserving judgement on this one just yet though - Putin’s “in principle” is way off what’s needed atm.  Next steps will be interesting.  Will your orange friend turn the screws for the first time on Putin (I hope so) or will he take the easy option and punch down again, asking VZ to make further concessions.

It's obvious who's going to be pressured to accept massive concessions.

Can you tell us how it’s “way off” at the moment?

https://www.theguardian.com/world/2025/mar/13/russia-wary-of-proposed-ukraine-ceasefire-plan-as-us-talks-begin

Vladimir Putin has said he has many questions about the proposed US-brokered ceasefire with Ukraine and appeared to set out a series of sweeping conditions that would need to be met before Russia would agree to such a truce.

“We will see if Russia agrees, and if not, it will be a very disappointing moment,” he said. “I would like to see a ceasefire from Russia. We hope that Russia will do the right thing.”

Trump doesn't sound confident given he started talks with Russia without Ukraine

So he’s got some questions, as expected. Does @Bertie know what’s needed?

That article doesn’t make it look way off.

Firstly Putin seems to be trying to do what the Ukrainians were a few weeks ago, wanting preconditions to any temporary truce.  Trumpy didn’t like that - wanted ceasefire first then discussions. Will Donnie be consistent?

Secondly what he’s asking for seems completely unrealistic for a sovereign nation eg Ukraine not being able recruit for their national army (other stuff as well listed was in an interview by a BBC Russian correspondent which can’t find the link for)….. which of course is also hypocritical as I’m sure Putin will be doing all of this.

He doesn’t have to “accept” anything.

He may have to if he doesn’t want Trumpy to throw another fit and take all the military/financial/intelligence support away again.

Chuffed for you that you trust the Putin and Trump double act so much then. I’ll get my popcorn and watch.

Yes let’s just pretend Europe doesn’t  exist.

First round of talks and it looks pretty promising. Not bad really after 3 years of killing.
