I'm sure some will make out like it's all part of a masterplan. I suspect the reality is that he's just making it up as he goes along, and hoping for the best. There certainly are mixed messages coming from him

Why do always refer to others when you comment? Does it really bother you what others think?

Anyone who thinks Russia could have been dissuaded from invading Ukraine should watch that interview with a pro Putin journo on Newsnight. Chilling. Said any UK attempt to stop Russia and they would wipe us out. Said any UK peacekeeping force would be killed. FWIW I don’t think we should do that as it would be too provocative.

Yep, definitely a Russian asset.  Regime change being pushed.  You can see it now - mega election interference to install a Russian sympathiser/proxy…..

Trump has now upped the ante on his original requests, insiders claim, demanding Zelensky call an election and potentially step down as leader in order to secure military aid and intelligence access from the US.

Trump is also expecting Zelensky to be open to relinquish territory to Russia in the name of striking a peace deal, NBC reports.

“You can have peace just as soon as I get what I want, until then, have another 100 drone attacks”

It’s for the greater good though that we just give in to Putin. And if he ever decides he wants more land, next time we now know to just let him have it rather than lose thousands of lives.

”I just want that bit of Moldova please, now you can either give it to me no questions asked, or we can have what we had in Ukraine”

Peace ✌️

We could ask Moldova for their mineral rights in advance too.

Everyone's a winner (except Moldova obviously).

The thing is, in his first term, he at least had people going, 'erm that's a bit nuts..'

Now the republicans are the Trump party so it's scorched earth - he can do what he wants. I don't actually blame Trump, I blame those who are clinging onto power to not stop him.

It's the complete opposite of 'draining the swamp.' It's actually created it.

In some senses we were 'lucky' that his first time in office was largely curtailed by COVID.

I think Covid has actually helped him. Historically after pandemics, there has been a shift to isolated policies. Just finished Pale Rider - it's a must read.

I'm doing a tour that's coming from thw Mill in Sonning - it's next to George Clooney's UK gaff.

He seems like a good guy and not that pissed off at all.

I'm guessing this isn't the book of the Clint Eastwood film?

I take your point, but I don't think even the Moldovans want Moldova

Hopefully a lasting ceasefire is being negotiated and it’s in Ukraines favour. ie. the aggressor doesn’t win.

Doubt that very much.

Russia will be keeping some of the captured land I reckon.

The only thing I can see in Ukraine's favour may be companies investing being unwilling to do so without guarantees from Government (Trump) over protection.

That's the way I see it too.

I imagine they might even end up with more than they have presently. Otherwise I think Russia will keep on fighting till they've got the bare minimum they set out for. They've only got partial control in some of those reasons from what I understand.

A ceasefire not yet agrees by Russia.

I saw a piece earlier, and a reporter at a facility in Ukraine that produces graphite.

The production levels are well down, naturally, and the main chap there was saying he'd welcome investment, and that it would help with security for reasons as above.
