Agree with you.  I think all I/others are saying (sadly) is we shouldn’t get carried away given some of the character types involved…..esp as all concessions so far have been unilateral thanks to Trumpys pressure on VZ.  As before, I hope I’m wrong.

That article doesn’t make it look way off.

and appeared to set out a series of sweeping conditions that would need to be met before Russia would agree to such a truce.

We'll see

Have Ukraine taken some Russian land in Kursk?

If so (I’m honestly not sure) can they not agree to hand that back in exchange for all the land Russia have illegally taken from Ukraine?

That would be nice and simple

They did, but Russia have pretty much taken it back over the last few days, and remaining Ukraine forces are pulling out.

Ah right.

well that’s that bollocksed then

i guess Putin will just be lubing up his Cossack widgie and preparing to slide it up trumps Big Mac passage

Part of the problem with having trump involved is that he simply doesn’t understand what a sovereign nation is.

So giving up land to Russia makes sense to him.

He will justify it if Putin goes and takes more because he just doesn’t give a fuck.

See Canada and Greenland for details.

Helped enormously by US withdrawing intelligence support. Cheers Trump

There's a part of me that reckons Russia might not play ball and Trump will flip and threaten to arm Ukraine to the teeth.

They have backed Russia into a corner somewhat.

And this Kremlin response is pretty wishy washy and doesn't really move us much further along.

It's like they want it to fail so they can say I told you so

I'm not so sure.

I think he might need to at least threaten to to bring them to the table. Publicly or privately.

If they drag their heels - I think he'll put his fragile ego in charge and will want to save face with the American people.

I didn't say I think it's likely - but I do think it's possible.

I'm not reading it as promisingly as you have. Just a delaying response from the Kremlin isn't it? And their position hasn't really changed......

Edit (hope I'm wrong of course)

Didn't really expect anything else.

Playing hard ball like Trump is.

Something will be agreed, but what it Will look like is anyone's guess.

Stars and Stripes in the Donetsk and Kursk regions maybe. Trump look out towers.

Nobody wants it to fail. But it's fucking obvious what's going to happen. It's only your cultish devotion to Trump that is telling you otherwise.

Serious question...

Do you personally think a deal where Russia Keeps the land its stolen and Ukrainians just have to put up with it is a good thing?

The elected Ukrainian leader seems to be happy with it. He’s the one who’s had to witness the deaths of 10s of thousand of his people. If it’s good enough for him and if it’s what he wants for his people then it will do for me.

I'm not sure he's agreed to giving any land up yet though has he?

I'm with you though. This is a decision for the Ukrainians! 👍

The elected leader has been hamstrung into it more like.

But he is realistic and knows he cannot continue without US support which is evaporating.

Trump is once again putting his ego above American interests. Russia losing big numbers of equipment and manpower was a win for the US while they update their supplies offloading old stuff to Ukraine.
