Not what I said. The biggest impact would be shutting down Swift short term. The sanctions we have made are laughable to Putin.

Putin makes his money through wide open regulatory back doors that we and others have been happy to allow for years. We could end that but we won't because of the influence of Russian money in our and other governments.

Sorry... your pervious reply suggested that.

Haven't the UK suggested/wanted to exclude them from swift but other countries have declined that as a option?

Not sure they have, Starmer has asked but the last I heard we hadn't officially asked.

Interestingly I heard that if the US demanded it then it would probably happen but obviously they want and need to do it as a united action.

I'd love this to be true, the thing that concerns me is a lot of the news and updates we see on TV and through Twitter are western/Ukrainian slanted and we're not being told the full extent of Ukrainian losses, whereas they're amplifying their successes.

That's obvious and to be expected of course, but Kyiv could still fall within days.

Aye his beloved EU have declined the option.

A spokesman for Ukrainian President Zelensky has just said the country is prepared to hold ceasefire and peace talks with Russia immediately.

If this is true he's obviously on the first plane out

Who said it was Boris' fault?

Nobody

Anyway

The Russian army doesn’t appear, as things stand, to be up for the scrap. Or well managed.

If they’ve suffered big casualties it’s not going to improve morale.

Correct but I really do like the idea Putin has fucked up and totally misjudged it all and it’s going to fall around him.

It is not my beloved EU at all and if you actually read my posts it goes to show that all countries still do what is best by their interests, inside or outside of the EU.

They voted in a TV comedian as President and he's only gone and picked a fight with the world's hardest man thinking the rest of the planet will back him up.

You were wrong there pal, I believe Biden has offered you a flight into exile

You for fucking real?

Still, I'd hazard a guess that he pays his workers.

UK Defence intelligence suggests "more than 450" Russian troops are dead.

Oh me too, for him to find out the military that he's poured so much money and effort into trying to bring up to better standards is actually still sorely lacking would be great.

I hope they've underestimated Ukraine's fighting spirit and capability massively. Even got students at Kyiv University mass producing molotov cocktails now!

Aye

They are valiant but all I've read suggests the Russians are steaming in on kiev

And the president is asking for more help from europe

Apparently his last broadcast was something like "this may be the last time you see me alive"

The whole EU project is all about what’s best for Germany, perhaps a few blinkers will now be removed. Another Brexit plus is we’re not one of the 27 who has to tow the German party line and we are free to support the removal of swift from Russia.

Brexit + 😆

Not sure why you're turning this into a Brexit point scoring debate mate.

From where I'm sitting the response & sanctions is shite from all sides. Most of your Vote Leave heroes will have links to Russian money, political funding & corruption.

Petrol £10 per gallon

Bread 50 bob a loaf

Three grand to heat a house for a year

We will eventually need to talk to the Russians, all we've done so far is send Liz Truss tottering over in her silly shoes

We all need each other and no one can say the current conflict is a surprise

Roll over for the cunt then?

At least this country has made great strides to remove itself from the fuel driven grip of Russia and the global issue of environmental warming.

Fwiw, the conflict is a surprise. The sabre rattling and maybe even more intensive delving into the east of the country wouldn't have been, but full scale assault wasn't expected.

Seem to be just another poorly informed Brit basher, but happy to take all the benefits.

He can’t help himself.

He has to justify his support at all times

Even when it’s utter horseshit
