Indeed.

Not very decent though, and naive- what effect might those comments have on his future career prospects?

The society boasts that it is the best in the world, and this isn't a good look.

It will be interesting to see if he does take up the position or is removed beforehand.

His incoming presidency will rightfully be revoked, as words matter. The hypocricy is not surprising though. The same people who wil be clamouring for him to be thrown out of the University are the same people who are hailing Charlie Kirk a "Free Speech" martyr, because they agreed with his racist, mysoginistic opinions.

Quite simply, if you celebrate someone being killed for having a different opinion, then you shouldn't be in that position

It's distasteful.

But much of what passes as free speech is distasteful.

Anyone who starts or finishes an outburst with phrases along the lines of “it’s a free country” or “I can say what I like” are usually about to say something  completely fucking rancid.

Which they’re allowed to.

And everyone else is allowed to call them a rancid cunt even before they’ve started.

It’s all getting a bit silly this free speech malarkey now.  Common sense needs to be applied. You can’t go to the match and start calling a black player a coon/nigger/black cunt etc then say “it’s free speech” likewise if You’re in a position of authority and going to start laughing/commenting  at someone being shot dead then it’s likely you will lose your job. This is common sense.

Same with people who 'tell it like it is'

Why is the people always say 'I tell it like it is' always say something really shitty and mean.

Its never, 'you look bloody ace, and you're such a lovely person - I just tell it like is it'

Aye

It's about common decency.

People who 'speak their mind'.

Don't.

Have a think and keep your fucking mouth shut

Thing about free speech is you can say whatever you want but equally everyone else can think you are a cunt for whatever you say or when you say it.

Living in a decent Society means that although you do have the right to say things at times you will decide not to say something because it is overly offensive.

For some reason people do not apply the same logic when it comes to the Internet especially Social Media where I am sure folk think they are actually playing a character who is an exaggerated version of themselves.

There is some serious cocksucking going on in this press conference, "see you in Valhalla" was my favourite bit.

A twenty year old lad has just shot someone and handed himself in the next day and you would think Poirot, Sherlock and Columbo had been brought together to save the world.

Proper embarrassing innit. "Ladies and gentlemen, we got him", trying to imitate the announcement when Sadam Hussein was caught. And Kash Patel is way out of his depth. Always looks like he's shitting himself.

Well, I think the governor of the state is speaking very well.

Asked all sides to tone down the rhetoric- something that hopefully Trump himself will have heard, as it applies to him to.

The valhalla comment may seem odd, but I guess that's a cultural/religious difference between the nations.

Maybe the two were friends too, which might also offer more understanding.

The revelation of so much detail seems unusual too, but again, that is just their way.

The governor to be fair did bring it together well at the end. I am still struggling to grasp the magnitude of all this, time will tell I guess.

Indeed. Don't know how much you knew of him, but I hadn't heard of him.

Suppose that many others do, and followed him. Big for them.

If you were going on holiday and a fellow passenger noticed the pilot was black, and they told you that his/her skin colour made them feel more nervous than if they were white, would you consider that 'racist'?

Exactly - Free Speech does not mean there are no consequences to your words

It's been the top story on BBC news since the minute he got dead. He wasn't even a politician. Fucking weird times we're living in.
