Is Hamas Palestine’s version of Taliban? Are they sponsored by the richer end of the Muslim world?

ie, a group of power-pissed zealots hell-bent on keeping the rest of the local population from being free-thinking and joining the rest of the world in the 21st Century.

There's not a equivlence, just because they are both Muslim groups. Hamas' aspirations are political not Islamic religious extremism nor specifically anti-West unless relating to the West's support of Israel.

Think of Hamas more like the IRA (again, its not an ideal comparision) they have a political aim - to claim Palestine back for the Palenstinians, however a lot of people in Palenstine believe their methods are actually hindering that aim due to Israel's reponses but Hamas have ramped up activity in light of Israel's current more hardline government.

Which there is religion at the heart of the problem, like in Ireland, there's a much more political element to Hamas rather than just religious zealotism.

Utter bunkum of a suggestion. If that was the intention, they'd have done it already, or maybe not allowed it in the first place.

Correct. This is not genocide. The population of Israel is 18% Muslim.   Twas a silly comment.

I see there's now a protest outside Rushanara Ali's constituency office

There's no intimidatory intent, though

None whatsoever

Hmm.

I've read her statement about why she abstained.

Although I don't agree with her sentiments, the statement makes sense.

If protestors cannot read and understand it, then they're undermining their own political support.

Bollocks to the lot of them.

Indeed

She issued a statement outlining her position and voted accordingly

That vote has now been and gone, and the demonstrations outside her constituency office are an attempt to intimidate her out of her position as a result

She must be terrified

Perhaps she is, but I can't find it within myself to have too much sympathy as its precisely what the Jewish community are going through daily, because of these people.

Of course, as you said previously, mps seem to be more vulnerable now than ever, and they all deserve protection, but there is an evil irony here.

It would be interesting to see how many Palestinians would vote Hamas if there was ever another election.

if they see hamas as the enemy of the govt who has just killed their kids, mum, grandparents, would you be surprised if they did?

There won’t be an election unless Hamas are destroyed and if the Palestinians are that brainwashed or stupid to vote Hamas mark 2 then it'll serve them right for not voting for a party that wants peace not one who wants to exterminate Jews and Israel.

School kids given the day off to protest. Teachers again eh? Shameful.

ridiculous - I'm still not sure, why there was even a vote on a "ceasefire" in the HoC - it's not as if either side over there is going to down weapons, just because some MPs think they should.

It's a massive waste of time - just like the Ukraine/Russia war - stop supporting either side, stop giving them aid, and leave them to it. No matter what anybody says, both conflicts will still be rumbling on, one way or another, for decades

If parents can be fines for taking kids out of school, then surely teachers will be for doing likewise?

Should their positions not be at risk for not doing their job? Certainly should be going through the disciplinary process.

you seem to have misunderstood the meaning of the word strike 😂

But yes, how shameful. Sack the teachers, lock them up, put the kids into care. That should sort it 👍

Bunch of drama queens 😉

Maybe you have a different view of the role of a teacher.

Reap what you sow.
