Scraping the barrel pal. There are hundreds of filmed incidents of pure antisemitism and hatred in London yesterday and around the world. If this doesn’t worry you, you should be ashamed.
Very worrying times.

Always has worried me 👍

I remember being shocked by it in Palestine & it’s obvious it’s a huge issue in the UK now. Has been for a while and has taken decades for the Jewish community to be heard. Off piece example, but the harassment of school teachers in Birmingham (by the conservative Islamic community) is an example of just how much freedom we give extremists out of fear of offending.

My point throughout this thread has been the need for caution. What we’re seeing on social media is a clear stereotyping of anyone with a Palestine flag. It’s a naive movement, but clearly the majority don’t condone Hamas. And there are extreme Zionists in this country who are happy with Israel’s actions in the West Bank.

Why the rush?

Do it when they're ready.

350 miles of tunnels to sort out apparently- that's going to take time to prepare.

I’m in no rush, but ten minutes watching the news and I’m surprised Kay Burley and co. aren’t piling into Gaza atop Sky News tanks in a hail of gunfire.

Anyway, watching the Statement and questions in the house: there are clearly some with a level of sympathy for the terrorists.

Or war crimes by Israel cannot be supported otherwise we look rather hypocritical in the Ukraine situation.

Alhough of course I would expect you to be anti-Israel, your point is correct, but that isn’t the point I made.

The words and tone of one or two caused clear unrest in the house, and they were rebuked by subsequent comments. They went beyond the obvious.

I'm sure the Israelis would be delighted to be given a better means of dealing with Hamas, without the deaths of civilians, but so far its the same rhetoric- don't do this, that or the other, whilst not holding the terrorists the the same standards.

schapps says we have a ship in the vicinity to deter others from getting involved

obvious question is what gives us the right, or desire, to get involved

Leave them to it then.

If another holocaust happens, what would you say?

We've also got our citizens dead and being held hostage, so we've every right to get involved.

Politicians have to be very careful about their comments in these exchanges. On that I completely agree.

Im not sure why I’d be anti-Israel. What I’m about is not lurching towards serious escalation in the Middle East.

Hamas are terrorists so they don’t have the same responsibility as Israel. There are no standards for terrorists.

I’m not sure about that. Do you remember the ‘shoe bomber’ bloke who tried to detonate explosive in his shoes on a plane? If we’re talking standards, I’d say he was a fairly poor terrorist.

Jesus Christ

Does having a balanced view on this now make you anti-Israel?

Which MPs specifically are terrorist sympathisers? And what have they said that proves they support Hamas?

Nah mate, you’ve looked at the wider picture, historical context and taken a balanced view. That makes you anti-Israel and a terrorist sympathiser. Just like the MPs 🙄

Nearly 2000 dead in Israel’s response- 600 of them children. I get the anger and need to do something, but I don’t see how this fixes it. Political analyst on R4 saying today that it’s playing into Hamas hands and distancing Israel from Arab nations who they had built ties with recently, such as Saudi Arabia.

Thanks, I agree.  Hopefully sense prevails. We need calm heads more than ever.

The Iranian minister said he’d been talking to his allies - Malaysia, Tunisia, Pakistan.

I know whose side I’m on.

Sounds like the countries that Liz Truss was boasting about getting new trade deals with 😁
