...in Japan we stayed at a Buddhist temple...vegan food...They'd do well to get some vegan sausage rolls in from greggs

Why? Does the owner of Greggs, a jailed abuser of boys, want The Yakuza minding him in the chokey now? Therefore needs the ¥..?

(I forgot, very thinly veiled that, did they make you meditate and hit you with a metre rule, btw?)

How do you do vegan calamari? It's just onion rings isn't it? 🤣

It’s mushroom with a plant-based fishy-tasting coating. They really are very good.

Many vegetarians/vegans etc like the taste of meat, but don't eat it on moral grounds.

So to have something that looks like and tastes a little bit what they actually like to eat is a bonus, hence the amount of non-meat version of the real thing.

In fairness, although both shite, a Quorn nugget tastes better than a McDonalds one.

I tried a quorn nugget a few weeks back and it was bloody awful. Not sure if it was cooked long enough but it was really squishy and unpleasant. Serves me right for pilfering my nieces leftover tea and forgetting they are veggies.

Gonna crack open the breville toastie maker once this child of mine let's me put him down. Love a toastie.

I give it a week of chiselling welded on cheese before it's back in the under the sink cupboard with your George Formby grill...

I just got a steamburn off a naan bread (to go with Chicken saag chanay) and, without thinking, shouted "YOU BLOODY BAST!" In George Khan's voice...

My neighbours are friendly but somewhat wary...

Wonder why?

Yeah, I didn't say they were good  😉

I'm claiming scumbaggery as it was half a tray of spinach chickpea curry and half a can of chicken vindaloo done in the microwave (which, according to Escobarp makes me a scutter, Gordon Ramsay too)...

Couldn't be arsed preheating the oven so did the naan in the toaster...

Got a new one, plates come off and I can wash it straight after. I'm posh you know.

The last one I had I won at a school tombola - new, Breville, but shaped like an Old English Sheepdog for some reason, its head was the clamp, it had a button that made a "Woof!" sound - totally unrelated to the toastie cooking aspect.

I think I used it about five times.

Not a fan - they go from lava hot to stone cold in about 12 seconds - that's the eating window you get.

Just had tinned corned beef with cucumber and salad cream on Warby’s Toastie. My word that hit the spot

The steak Canadians have gone in the bin

Used to love a steak canadian, used to get them from the market. They were a staple growing up.

Not seen them for years.

I've had my face shoved into a Goblin Meat Pudding.

I ate some Westlers canned burgers with Smash from the corner shop for Sunday tea, one week when I missed the supermarket. They were Ok - a bit spongy.

I ate a Frey Bentos pie that had been in the cupboard about three years when my parents left me home alone and they went on holiday first time without me nor left at home with someone else 'looking after' me...Wasn't bad (The Fray Bentos), and the empty tin did a few turns as a plate the next couple of meals.

I was determined not to 'waste' money on food, preferring to spend it entirely on booze and weed.

I ate the entire contents of the cupboards, fridge and freezer instead.

I had some interesting meals, especially as a lot of the freezer stuff was just meat from Fraser's and unidentifiable until thawed. I also drank a 3L Bottle of Bailey's my mam had won in a raffle.

The night before the night they came back I had just enough cash for a few pints whilst watching Big Frank cling on against Oliver McCall in the pub, and 3L of White Lightning for after, truth be told I'd been on it about three days by then (various white ciders) but making it into 'Diesel' by adding blackcurrant...

I'd ran out of blackcurrant so I blended three tins of peach slices and mixed the 3L of 'cider' with that - poor man's Bellini I thought...

It tasted like tramp's vomit, same consistency too, and I think it fermented in my stomach, prison hooch style as I was still pissed the next day...

During the course of the three weeks or so I'd not washed up and simply used every single plate, pan, tray, utensil etc. in the house.

That was a pleasant few hours washing up.

Especially, like Withnail, there was no booze left to steel myself.

Bought the eldest some of the tinned pies when he went back to uni the other weekend, told him to use them as a treat meal. They even do a veg balti one these days, very progressive.

My mam used to serve them tinned burgers up frequently when we were kids, not feeling the nostalgia for them.

Has anyone ever had a frey bentos or a goblin pudding?

Or even worse burgers in a tin,

or full English in a tin?

My flat mate tried to talk my missus out of marrying me all those years ago.

"You haven't lived with him, he eats a FULL Fray Bentos Pudding to himself" was one of his reasons 🙂
