Try telling that to the guy from Liverpool that’s just done 30 years before he’s just been proven innocent by a DNA test. Last I heard he’s still not had an apology from Merseyside police.

The jury found him guilty at the time

Yes, and they were wrong.

Were they wrong at the time of the decision?

Don't think they can be blamed without having access to DNA that didnt become evident till years later

I don't know mate, but, if he was a scouser he must have been guilty of some other stuff

Sure i read he had learning difficulties and it was a bad confession. as you say he was probably on the radar for petty stuff

I agree and there have been others, but I still think a case should be  trial by jury

I too think a jury is a better system, but this case was shambles.

I’m not blaming the jury. It’s the police that got a false confession from him.

You said they were wrong

Now you're saying it's a stitch up by the police

Based on the evidence that was presented to the jury at the time, do you think they got it wrong?

There's a place for you somewhere warming up for that weird looking ginger 'comic' that was doing the rounds on here a few months ago.

Can't wait :D

“Trawling up shit” 😂😂

You mean just answering a question with facts, that “your Don” had been found guilty of sexual assault by a jury.

You can’t make it go away you know. It did happen. The judiciary wasn’t weaponised. I’m surprised you’re comfortable just laughing it off - you must think it’s ok therefore for blokes to do this?

 Is it less than 1,000 days yet?

Just checked, it's worse/better than that.

Yes they were wrong because he was innocent. Where have I said I blame the jury for getting it wrong?

I was asking given the evidence that was presented at time, were the jury wrong to come to the conclusion they did

As it transpired, evidence at a later date came to light which showed his innocence

Had they known that they may well have reached a different conclusion

You're saying they got it wrong as he was innocent

Never said you blamed the jury for getting it wrong

I think we’re saying the same thing.

However, prosecution by the police was well dodgy. They interviewed a young man with learning needs several times without a solicitor present. They must have persuaded him to do this. But if had learning difficulties he should have had an appropriate adult who would then ask for a solicitor. The PACE guidelines were in their infancy back then and it appears some police were not implementing them at times. I’m not sure this came out in court as I’ve not read it in detail. But yes it appears that the jury made the right decision with what was presented. But it was still the wrong decision.

Paul Lumber, 60, was one of the most renowned members of Bristol City’s notorious City Service Firm in the “casuals” scene of the 1980s.

Quote

Paul served several terms in prison for football-related violence in his younger days and was rumoured to be the first person in the country to receive a lifetime football banning order when they were introduced.

Whoever could have guessed that?

Another lad wanting to bring back the 'good old days' of the 80s when they were young and ran the streets.

Farage should resign and GB News taken off the air.

Just looked this up, he was believed to be the first to receive a football banning order and was banned for life from Bristol City.

At least he died doing what he loved🙃
