This one is going to be a bit more complicated than that. It will need trained professionals on hand to administer it and oversee it. It's not a DIY injection.

Don’t know the difference between administering a Covid vaccine and Insulin etc

Think I’ve said previously, I spent a few days working on a project with the British Society of Immunology to increase the uptake in the MMR vaccine. The team from the BSI said that it was very easy to administer a vaccine, your local pharmacy can do it (as an example)

Enough trained community nurses, dental nurses, pharmacists etc to support the NHS getting a vaccine out. The issue will be getting 60m+ vaccines on the ground within a short period

The worrying thing is at the moment its probably conceivable and could happen. I've done a little bit of immunisation delivering although I hated it and I'm not an expert. Obviously people will know for lots of immunisations theyve got to be kept at certain temperatures and be transported in certain ways then signed off otherwise they become ineffective. My big worry would be you've got to work by your lowest common denominator, if loads of people give it wrong or store it wrong (might not even have a fridge) then you dont reach herd immunity. Where will it sit with insurance as well when people inevitably injure themselves or their kids giving it. You've then got to store it correctly, I dont think I could rely on everyone to despose of the needle correctly so bin men etc are getting needle stick injuries.

I don't think you'll be able to just go to your local doctors for this one, the storage of it and specific staffing requirements for it will probably mean theres only a few sites per region designated to administer it. It wont be a short process, and its going to cause a lot of bother while people wait months for their turn.

All fair points

Forgot to mention loads of people hate injections and will just say they gave it themselves

It’s not rocket science those who will self inject, pick one up from the pharmacy, those who want nurse to do it book appointment, it’ll lessen the workload and speed up the process of vaccinating everyone.

This NHS Covid app is saying I should self isolate until 23rd October, no reason, no explanation, wife works in school and lads gone to school yet they’ve been with me all weekend. it’s utter bollocks, you can’t just stop the world every time you have been in the vicinity of someone who’s tested positive.

What explanation would you like?

The app thinks you were close to a subsequently infected person, for long enough time to potentially catch covid, just like all the schoolkids sent home for 2 weeks.

You are supposed to stay in, minimise contact with those you live with.

If you don't and you've got it and you pass it on, and someone you know gets proper ill, how you gonna feel for the rest of your life.

My 15yr old lad is isolating in his bedroom, not been outside, wears a mask when he comes downstairs, washes his hands more,  has the window open in his room. Its not difficult, just depends if you can be arsed.

I’m working from home so I’m not a risk, my wife already gone to school as has my lad, they haven’t got the Covid app, someone in sons school has Covid they haven’t sent his class home, teacher at wife’s school had it she isolated, the rest of the school carried on as normal. I’d like to know who I’ve been in contact with who has contracted Covid so I can be sure this alert is correct.

The app is anonymous, for multiple reasons,  some of which were folk saying they wouldn't use it if collected personal data. If it told you, you'd been near to Brian Mctavish for 15 mins one day last week, would it make any difference?

The date will be 14 days ish  after you bumped into whoever now has it. So if you've been in any buildings last week, there's your explanation. Within 1m of someone for a bit, or maybe 3 people within 2m for 5 mins each. Take your pick.

Only place I’ve been close enough is the office, no one else in the office has received the alert.

If mounts could get a test, im sure he would

Flu jabs....as I said weeks back, we haven't got enough

The govt decided to expand the group to vaccinate without knowing what they were signing up for

Its pointless getting a test if you don't have symptoms and have already been advised to isolate. If he got a test today and it showed negative, that doesnt mean he's not got it, see Donald Trump for example, tested every day apparently, took 5 days to show up.

Have you been in any other buildings, do you know that everyone in the office is telling the truth. The app works on a scale, assigning points to you based on how big the risk is. So if you've been unlucky to be near to someone at their most infectious period, for a very short duration, and that person has supplied info to the tracing team that will increase the score. I don't know exactly how the scoring  works, but my NHS mate says its literally seconds required for close contact with someone without a mask on in an enclosed space, during their most infectious period. As its 23rd, it might be last Friday.

I see it’s Labour controlled councils, who said the government locked down too late in March and came out of lockdown to early, now government locking down again they are now against it. You couldn’t make it up. I’m with them on this occasion with no lockdown but it seems these Labour mayors just take opposite view to government.

Are they saying that, though?

Aren’t they agreeing with lockdown, but just want more money?

I’ll just work from home, not happy with the system, I’d like a test this week, I should have more detail, at least where and when I was likely in contact with someone who’s tested positive, and a test 5 days after that contact.

It might be multiple places, multiple people - I've had a mate in his late 50's who had a test on Saturday night, got a positive last night, he's from buckshaw village, the only place hes hes had any contact in last 10 days, is watching grandkids footy last 2 weekends. He lives on his own, doesn't work, and says he's not been anywhere where there's other people apart from the football.

If  you have got it,  the biggest risk you pose is passing it on to your mrs or kid, and if it was last Friday when you had contact, you're most likley to show symptoms this Weds or Thurs, but could be later, or not at all if you got a mild case. get some vit D in you and chill

They're giving them for free at my workplace to anyone who wants one, no matter what age. Got mine done this morning and they gave us a nice Goodie bag with a True Fruits smoothie, some Raspberry flavored energy tablets, a tube of Moisturizing Cream (fuck knows why) and some other bits and bobs.
