Here is the sum total of my maths. We have 2m vaccines available. We should be in a position to administer them. I am not privy to does that mean 20k people or 200k.

I never said random people. If we need 200k people these should be ready and have been trained over last 6 months.

How many vaccines do you think we should be aiming to vaccinate per week  ?

OK training, we're from? Who with? Overseen by whom? I just think its a massive simplification of a bigger issue in my humble opinion, and like most on here - its not my world, so I'd rather leave it to the people who know rather than stabs in the dark which I just think is not hugely helpful.

Obvs we need to know how many vaccines we can have but fwiw, I'd not have the NHS doing this

Looks perfect for the army

After theyve enforced the covid rules in supermarkets, on the streets and manned the nightingales :)

To be fair, all their leave has been cancelled.

Theres others better qualified that I could ask but she would probably go on for days about her frustrations

Tbh, these are extreme times but if we are not ready to go on this, heads should be rolling...ministers, senior managers?

Who knows

Without getting political, I do think there have been signs that the govt have been reluctant to take on board outside expertise, showing a we know better attitude

I dont think they do

I hope you are not insinuating that Dido Harding knows less about software development than all those software developers who said 'this wont work' ?

So avoid the question on the number you think we should be aiming for.

Why have 2m vaccines but not resource up to use them ? The who, where , when etc question is one that should have been asked and answered already.

We have millions on furlough  we had thousands volunteer to help the NHS  I do not know what efforts have been made to resource up.  This has been with us a year in March the scientists have said since day 1 a vaccine is the way out of this.

Please drop this ‘not useful’ bollocks from your posts this is a football forum where any subject gets discussed and you join in to most of them.

My numbers are totally theoretical but surely someone knows or should know what is a  reasonable  daily turnover. All I am saying is that if after months of knowing this is coming that we have not resourced up and instead are going to have Boris and the boys avoiding the question it is a disgrace. Meanwhile we need to find extra resource to manage and look after the stock piles of vaccine.

I am really not sure what there is to disagree with.

The idea that we will have 2m vaccines a week in the near future to give to anyone is where you're going wrong I think.

Listen to Hancock on the Today show this morning, it'll be months before we have 2m a week.

People want the government to spell out when they expect to be releasing restrictions, they have. It's Easter.

The guy from AZ said said 2m a week by mid Jan.

But the number might be 500k. I just want the Govt to confirm the anticipated number. And that we have resource in place to use immediately.

Claims like below. 10s of millions by March.

As I told everyone 2 weeks ago at least.

It’s actually got worse since then as in terms of case numbers rising etc. but still standing by Easter if we can get a vaccination programme working properly.

He was very vague, basically saying we have 500K(ish) now, and we'll have millions more by the beginning of February  - I'm not sure we'll be seeing 2M a week for a while yet

5k testing kits delivered this morning for Staff and Students.

And that's why the Government don't want a national lockdown, they have invested heavily in this.

We are 450 billion quid in

The cost of a few hundred thousand testing kits isnt a reason to keep schools open

He wasn't that vague... he was directly asked about quotes saying that we'll have 2m doses a week from AZ in mid-Jan and said it wasn't true. And that we'd hope to reach that number in the coming months.

Eye watering isn't it, we'll be a lot deeper, probably closer to £600B by the time we're finished, especially when they decide to Tier 4 the entire country until March, which I suspect is coming fairly imminently

Tbf that is what we need. Let’s stop trying to sweeten the message. Boris is the worse one for it.

Not sure if its been covered not looked on here for a while but job adverts I've seen for immunisations seem to be training up the vaccinators and using nurses to supervise the sessions.. I'm not sure who checks for allergies and what the comeback will be? I'd guess the nurse overseeing the session will be in charge of adrenaline in case of bad reactions, not sure if that means they need to be a prescriber theres not too many of them. Couple of mates in Stockport have been seconded from the chidrens ward to do vaccinations.. they seem to have given quite a lot to health professionals there judging by how many people I know who've had it.. I've no idea on numbers though beyond that anecdotal evidence. I've seen a few comments under adverts on Facebook for this saying the hourly rate isnt great so might struggle to get people due to that.. I'm still fairly hopeful that with a bit of luck the vaccine will make it a much better world by early summer
