Each to their own. I’m enjoying reading all the posts after a fantastic win. Beats all the negative guff we have to endure during in-game meltdowns and post game rants after not winning. Always interests me that we hear far less from some posters after a good win.10 likes

Fantastic interview. For those who automatically pass over these I urge you to have a listen to this one. He talks like a manager/coach in the making. Having somebody with his knowledge, understanding and experience in the game, alongside the type of calm, composed and effective performance he offered yesterday, can only be a good thing. Loved his line to Duberry “stay where you are celebrated” Any promotion winning squad needs experience alongside youth and talent. Christie and Dempsey could be those vital cogs this season.7 likes

My summary of the day - Leeds Ring Road was shut . M62 was shut . Both on way over, left home at 11:45, got to ground after 2:30. Assumed start of a bad day. First 25-30 minutes thought I had it spot on Vale pushing and harrying, keeper made some saves !! Johnston one superb block. Became clear they were very open especially down our left. ACD and Burstow not in game. Cissoko main outlet, Christie looked slow. Burstow gets in game lays back to ACD 1-0, probably against run of play. We started to play well…very well at times. Sheehan a player I have criticised was playing on front foot picking up ball in the final third and dictating play. Simons bags the 2nd, ACD back in the game, easy to miss how good the lay off was, lovely strike by the X man. Second half, Vale pushing but very short lived. We just play good sustained football. Christie has hit the elixir of youth at half time he is like a young Conner Bradley up the right wing. Burstow gets involved again ADC bags again. Subs start coming in. ADC turns provider Dempsey is back, great moment. Stay till the end, stay to clap players off, half an hour sat on car park but listening to Bolton FM just laughing. Motorway slow rather than closed on way home. Get home only 7 hours after I left home. Yoof and g/f come for curry. I get a free beer when collecting and 3 After Eight mints. Missus picked a shit film, think I will go on Wways and post a very long post about today. And still there are fireworks scaring the dogs.5 likes

Really felt sorry for Randall yesterday. He's like watching a kid try and fit in with the big lads on the school field. I really want it to work for him, seems an all round decent lad. Works his balls off and never moans or kicks back at some pretty obvious groans and moans every time something doesn't come off for him. To quote earlier mantras, he's just not robust or dynamic enough. Dempsey showed more guile and prowess in 10 mins than he did all game. He finds space really well, but just never quite gets the ball off quick enough or drive in an around the box quick enough when the balls out wide. Think ACD flashed one across the box in the first half and he was 5 yards off the pace. He might still have a part to play but when everyone is fit he's way down the pecking order in that no10.4 likes

I was thinking about how a month or so ago we weren’t quite showing promotion form and that in the tightest division in living memory, we couldn’t trust our league position given the teams that had games in hand on us and the quirkiness of predicting results. This morning, after perhaps the most surprising set of results I’ve ever seen, we lie third and even if the teams with games in hand win them, the lowest we can be is sixth and in the playoffs and that’s due to an excellent run of form in which we have stopped leaking goals as we did earlier in the season without sacrificing our attacking intent. It’s been brilliant. The games against top teams after the break will be crucial to keep us up there - still too early in the season to call them six-pointers - more an opportunity to narrow the field - and our last few games have left me feeling that we can do it. I’m finally feeling confident that we are proper contenders and listening to Cyrus’s excellent interview fills me with the old enemy, hope. We are here despite lying 19th in the away form table so that needs to be improved, but we can do it, especially if we keep injuries to a minimum, we cope with winter pitches and as SS requests, our excellent fan base sticks behind the team through thick and thin. Very, very happy with the way it’s going this morning.4 likes

I've watched us for a long long time, special times under Jimmy Armfield, Ian Greaves, Bruce Rioch, Big Sam, even Parky & Evatt and i'm getting that same feeling that we're on the verge of achieving something special. The blend is right, the defence has tightened, we're scoring goals. We can do it this season.4 likes

Loved today, not only because of our result/performance and all the other results going our way, but that was only my oldest daughters 2nd game watching us. She’s just never really taken to it, but today she was hooked and that was some much needed one on one time together that we needed. That’s 3 I’ve made that are now fully on board. Job done 😊 Great having demps back, keep him fit and he can be the difference of an automatic position instead of the playoff positions. I seriously can’t do another playoff. ACD another level yet again, such a positive player love watching him. COYWM up the football league we go.4 likes

Absolutely. Report the whole thing accurately and let folk make their own mind up. Don't give him any ammunition for deflection.3 likes

Told you mate, Russian style media blackout is the way. Come off all social media. Don't allow any filming of the matches. Put him down on the team sheet as Trialist. Lock him in the hotel till Feb and tell him covid is back.3 likes

Only 4 mill? What about the mysterious £30 mill unsecured loan to his missus? I don't really care about Nandi but you've got to have a bit of sport when they inevitably fuck things up 🙂 Reeves' house rental sits with Raynor's arrogance, they are so basically thick they don't think we can see the chancers they really are.. both probably short term players2 likes

Yep, UEFA tend to get involved when it’s a regular thing. See Liverpool. No one must have informed them about Tel Aviv .2 likes

Funny how a few grand raises eyebrows yet £4m tax fraud by Zahawi never got a mention. Michelle Mone and her dodgy PPE at a time of national crisis? Not a pip. Yet a house up for rent without the right permit? Some folk aren't wired up right.2 likes

Think it was the ceo who sent an email to staff essentially dismissing the panorama controversy. Situation has become untenable for those at the top- they failed to get a grip- but there is clearly a lot of work to do. These top bods aren't making the programs etc.2 likes

Don't think anyone ever wasn't. We all want it. A bit different to being convinced we will get it. As per the game thread- our away from is wank. Get that right and absolutely we should do it. Bit of a shame that we're not getting the chance to play many away games at the moment, and taking our good form onto the road.2 likes

Only a few months ago he was struggling for impact with Jackburn. He is still young and may well make it-just as Harry Kane did. Plenty of time on his contract too. On the other hand, it is unlikely he would get into their first team now, and if he goes back at the end of the season what does he do? Stay and try to prove himself, and risk not getting much game time. Go on loan again- unlikely to get a gig elsewhere in the Premier league, so championship at best. Or bite the bullet, take a permanent move and build his career from there. Sometimes promising young players don't quite make it at the top, despite seeming to have everything. Perhaps it's a mentality/confidence thing. One thing is for sure- he is playing well, getting loads of game time, and being lauded by big crowds and decent atmosphere. I reckon he is enjoying himself and us happy too. Worth a lot.2 likes

We battered they with 11 men then their striker got sent off and Spearing scored an own goal. They were better with 10 men than 11. Parkys infatuation with a back 5 cost us that match2 likes

Was talking last night, pissed up, that I’d like him to have a quiet December, go under the radar, let our other forwards take the limelight, while obviously still winning. Get folk on-board that he’s still developing, still a lot to learn, it’s not going to happen for him every week and that staying in L1 with us is where he needs to be… …nah fuck that 😂. MOTM every week, keep going lad! We’ve just got to keep enjoying him while he’s here, it’s an absolute entertaining pleasure watching him perform every week, it’s fucking fantastic.2 likes

I saw an interesting little thing down below me in the technical area, as Burstow had come off, looking a bit frustrated, one of the coaches taking a minute to talk to him, no doubt about how well he'd done, with the two assists and a selfless effort. Being a good all round striker's as much about the work to help others shine as just banging them in2 likes

Age 11 (1975) became best mates at school with a lad from Morris Green. Top lad. I ended up going to uni, he became a copper. Different paths in life but stayed close all those years. Still mates now Lad he grew up with, who was close to his parents fixed my mum’s garage roof and is the proverbial pain in the arse to some folk on here . It is indeed a small world2 likes

You can read this thread and think this country is dead on its knees. Then you can stand for a couple of minutes silence and respect before the game today and apart from one Vale who I think thought it had finished, there is complete and utter respect. You know the country would be a million times better if we celebrated the good stuff rather than all the self reflection and not picking we all get caught up in. Ironic in a way that I am moaning about this.2 likes

Today was a bit of a banana skin to be honest, and I half expected us to draw or lose, but the display was decent after a shaky start, signs of confidence in the squad and togetherness, we're getting the winning mentality now, whilst early pacesetters are starting to slip and show fragility in their sides/weaker squads Get a couple more quality additions in when the window opens, then we are going up, we are going up as champions Absolutely nothing to fear or hold us back in this division When we move up, we won't struggle if we have funds and further additions, we'll go up again Enjoy it while we can2 likes

As good as that was, Johnston made the pass of the game 1st half to Burstow, he's got that in his locker, did the same v Cardiff. And another 40 yard pass to feet 2nd half. And I read on here Johnston is hopeless in possession. His block at 0-0 was as big as any saves or goals we scored. Obviously ACD MOTM but Johnston 2nd for me, at it from the first minute to the last and I'd say he was the only one of the 11 that applies to.2 likes

He was out for a year after Wood broke his leg in 2 places. Came back, got up to speed & Notts County FB Pedro Richards gave him an ACL on the same knee. Discussions were ongoing between Arsenal (offered £660k), and Wolves (£600k). Wolves were offering more wages to him so he preferred that. We, however, fancied the bigger fee). Following recovery from the ACL Everton offered a measly £60k. We took it . He went on to be PFA Player of the Year and an England player.1 like

I'm with @desperado, surprised at the inclusion of Randall and Cissoko, and Christie to a lesser extent. I expect to see two of Forss, Tutu and Dempsey before the 65th minute, but a big opportunity for them all.1 like

It's all there in the link It shows that villa's decision not to allow fans in to the ground wasn't "all of a sudden" and it wasn't because their fans "happen to be Jewish"1 like

Yeah Ok You suggested Villa have never done this before, they have You suggested it was because they were Jewish, it wasn't You're entitled to your opinion on why it went down but it's been shown not to be in line with the facts of matter If your starting place is Villa haven't done this before you're making a pretty flimsy point These things happen in football1 like

Strange that none of these clubs have ever, as far as we know, approached Dave Challinor at County who’s done a fabulous job there. With potential opportunities coming up at Blackburn, Norwich and Southampton surely someone will give him a try?1 like
