  1. What a game, missed pen, 8 goals, hit post, hit bar, missed chances for both teams. What a great way to spend a Tuesday night and all for £10 ! home for 9-30, a bacon sarnie and a brew watching the darts.

  2. Shame about conceding a couple, but this has been a great run-out for our second string. This is easily the strongest squad we've had since Football Ventures took over, and the youth system is bearing fruit. Long term investment and patience is starting to pay off.

  4. What did he do wrong? He missed a penalty. I saw someone who was calm and composed In awful conditions, rarely gave the ball away, brought the second 11 players around him into the game, held up some players around him who’ve hardly had 90 minutes all season. I’d be surprised if any of the stats suggested there was a better midfielder out there tonight.

  5. Had some free time today and saw that ValeWays had a 65 page match thread so thought I'd delve in... PREMATCH Not just that, Bolton have 17pts from 7 home games this season. Think they've won their last 7 home games in a row (all comps). Not many would have an away win down for this. Obviously hope im wrong, but i do fear abit of a thrashing here. KICK OFF Couldnt tell you mate i left at 4:0

  8. Literally no whataboutery in that post. Ok, you prefer a channel that echoes your views rather than something that may challenge them. I hope that we keep balanced views and that our national broadcaster, when it get things wrong, is rightly called out on it. Those seeking perfection need to look elsewhere. As Ani says though this daft idea that the BBC is some sort of massive left wing Metro centric cabal plotting to blast socialism into every household is nonsense. Anyway, why arent you watching Walldongadingdong News at 6 or whatever it is that delievers your news about whichever PM you currently have?

  9. Where’s your ambition and positivity? Surely we’re striving for the sextuple 😁 (“Winning 6 trophies is a rare and significant achievement in football”) - L1 - FA Cup - EFL Trophy - Youth cup winners - B team League champions - Womens tier 6 champions

  10. Let’s be clear though the Whistleblower they refer to is a Mr Cohen who may have a side in the whole Gaza situation, but they have chosen not to highlight that which is exactly what they accuse the Beeb of. It is interesting that to show how bias BBC Arabic is he compares with the coverage of the larger BBC News which is what the rest of us see 99% of the time. Of course there will be instances where people can show specific stories display bias and it is pretty clear that BBC Arabic has got this wrong but the idea that this displays an inherent left wing bias across the organisation is nonsense. Emily Maitlis resigned because of pressure to keep the then Tory Govt on side. Farage appears on Question Time more often than anyone else. The idea that it is full of and controlled by ‘lefties’ is just not true. Sir Robbie Gibb is not even one of the Bee Gees https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Robbie_Gibb What is clear that when the BBC fucks up this is reported by amongst others the BBC, enter the story of BBC errors of your choice in Google and see if the BBC has reported it. Over recent years the emergence of new news channels has rightly challenged the dominance of the established media but the idea ‘MSM’ is dead is simply not true. It is almost as though people who have propped up GB News by over £70m between 2021-2024 are doing so for a reason. Can anyone explain that in an unbiased way ?

  12. Can't argue with that. Missed a pen, had one or two cleared off the line (by our own), and hit the bar. Not bad for a mish-mash team.

  13. Sorry, but that's irrelevant. They don't arrive like Paddington with a label with rapist, knifeman etc. Hence they all should be treated with the same suspicion. Moreover, the vast majority are simply taking the piss. We know they're largely not fleeing from war torn areas etc, and have paid a tidy sum to get here. We're full, we're skint and and they won't stop coming until we do get seriously tough, hostile or whatever phrase folk want to use. Just for an example, I heard a stat (last month iirc) from a police force- Dorset I think- they had 160 ish sexual assault cases on their hands, and over 40% involved illegals. Utterly ridiculous and time to stop. I note the home secretary is looking to the Danish model; well she categorically won't copy it to any great extent- they take jewellery off migrants (with some exceptions) to pay for their processing. Not a chance this government will adopt a similar approach, which begs the question of how tough they will make it.

  14. We're back! Newport will seek to deaden the pangs of League Two concern in a quest to script Vertu Trophy progress when Exeter City call this Tuesday at Rodney Parade [19.00] writes Tony Rees. Put simply, victory over the Grecian, who 28 rungs above County on the Football League ladder, would propel the Port into the last 32 of a competition that has gold at the end of a cup rainbow that ends at Wembley Stadium next April. Holders Peterborough were thought to have banked £1.25m-plus in beating Birmingham at London HA9 0WS seven months ago, their bloated deposit included competition prize money, match tickets, merchandising and sponsorship. A quartet of clubs are tethered together in the Group A Southern Section, Newport bolted with Arsenal U-21s, Cardiff City and Exeter by virtue of County's 1-0 away win over the neighbouring Bluebirds in October. Manager David Hughes, who could restore New Zealand keeper Nik Tzanev to his starting line-up, would hope to have left-back Tom Davies and, possibly, linkman Michael Spellman available, holds the Vertu Trophy in great esteem. The Welshman is urging his men to chalk up their fifth win in seven matches - this after stumbling at home 4-2 to League Two leaders last Saturday, leaving County rock bottom of their section. Said Hughes, " Re-discovering momentum is the aim. The Vertu Trophy is a realistic opportunity for clubs outside the Premier League and Championship to take their supporters to Wembley and give them a good day out and some great memories. "We have set ourselves up for progression thanks to a terrific and deserved 1-0 win at Cardiff last month. It was a satisfying result and performance at the Cardiff City Stadium and we look to replicate that display against another club one section higher than us in the Football League. "Exeter will be a real test, make no mistake. We will need to work hard and maintain concentration levels and eliminate unforced errors against very useful opponents to prevail." Hughes, a fine centre back in his playing days, might re-shuffle a rear guard that shipped four to League Two leaders Walsall at home in a crazy game of six goals last Saturday. County might hand a full debut to Akin Odimayo, a versatile defender signed as a free agent recently - having been released by Northampton. But Newport will need to spike the guns of a Grecian side who edged out young Arsenal 4-3 at St James' Park in last month - the Gunners' rookies breached by a brace from Northern Ireland international Josh Magennis, Jack Aitchinson and ex-Reading hit man Jayden Wareham who has fired three goals in as many games.

  19. There's no game for 11 days after tonight. Yes I'd leave out all the first teamers if it was an option to avoid injury, but there's plenty of time for a break coming up if we're just talking about tiredness. Its wierd how we all think players need a break these days, they never used to, the team only changed if there were injuries and that applied to all the Sherpa Van Trophy games, cup replays, 1st and 2nd leg cup ties etc.

  21. Again - that's not evidence - it's just presumption. You might be right - and if you are I'd expect that the next occupants of the white house will expose it (if it does indeed implicate him) if it's the Dems. Although it does beg the question why the Biden administration didn't order for the release of the files - if they knew that DT featured in there heavily. Or there was evidence of wrongdoing. Surely that would have tipped the balance back to Biden/Harris significantly. My guess is his name comes up in the files - but not to the extent that there's any evidence of wrongdoing. And he could put all of this to bed by ordering the release of the files of course.

  22. There is concrete evidence that on THIS occasion, THIS editorial team either got it wrong and/or didn't have the wherewithal to question whether the footage had been edited. And even so - it's not clear whether that's down to 'left wing bias' or a desire to 'sex up' the programme which I think is more likely. You're taking about a really small number of people who made a silly editorial decision and have been rightly picked up on it (with consequences). There must be thousands of people working in news in some way shape or form for the BBC. Of all kinds of political persuasions. It's just another national institution that the right don't like and therefore want tearing down. And balls to whatever the rest of the population want. I'll say it again - on balance the BBC does far more good than harm. Like any huge organisation, there will be unsavoury and imperfect people working for it. That's recruitment and human nature, sadly. But the answer isn't to throw the baby out with the bathwater.

  23. Nonsense. I have given examples that show the accusation is untrue whilst acknowledging some mistakes. None of which you have replied to , The GB. News comparison is important a it highlights what happens where the news is owned by the highest bidder.

  27. Good memories from the early 80s that struck a chord with me. I was only present at the home games and it never felt like a rivalry, it may have been different away, but their turn outs here were less than a lot of teams from much further away (eg Grimsby and Luton). We also played them in the league cup in 82/83, also winning the 1st leg 2-1 but lost the away leg 4-2. Four days later we played them at home in the league, I just remember Roger Palmer scoring and we lost again, 0-2. Played 4, lost 4, scored 1 goal in the league and failed to get to round 2 of the LC, I think for the first time since its inception but could be wrong, it was definitely a first since I started going in the 70s. Next home game, played Newcastle. Crowd 6,429. That's in total, not just the Geordies. They were grim times, but we did somehow stop up.

  28. Seems like he is going nowhere in Jan Brighton want him to stay with us and have no intention of sending him to championship as they think it will stunt his development halfway through a season. They are extremely happy with how Bolton have handled him and his form for us and want it to continue. This is on sky sports if anything thinks it shit

  35. Hard to believe he’s innocent if he and his cronies are going to so much trouble to stop the Epstein files being released, (and even flip flop that they actually exist in the first place). Epstein was a convicted pedophile and trafficker, about whom Trump said this: “I’ve known Jeff for 15 years. Terrific guy,” Trump told New York magazine in 2002. “He’s a lot of fun to be with. It is even said that he likes beautiful women as much as I do, and many of them are on the younger side.” I think the truth is pretty clear.

  37. It's the kind of shitbag trick he'd try though. Ruining another institution over a personal beef. The BBC isn't perfect - but it's light years ahead of any domestic or foreign broadcaster I've ever seen in terms of quality and output. I'll be fuming if any of my money ends up in that cunts pocket.

  41. We played these loads in the 70s and early 80s and a rivalry of sorts built up, especially on their side. We took thousands there and invaded the place on a good few occasions. After that fixtures have been sparing. Two league games there in the 90s in the Championship - a 3-1 for them in 94/5 and a 0-0 towards the end of our 100 goals 98 points season. in 96/7. Folk have mentioned the most recent couple of games (a 0-2 win for us in COVID and the horrible 1-0 in 16/17). We should not forget a 0-1 win there for us in our Prem years with Vaz Te on the scoresheet. A couple of memories from the early 80s. We had a 2-3 win there in 82/3 in a season when we got relegated from what is now the Championship. Freezing cold day (as always) and a game or two after that famous day when Seamus McDonagh scored direct from a goal kick v Burnley at home. Something I remember better was a Tuesday night trip a couple of season later (84/5) in the League Cup. This was the year we never picked up a single point in something like our first 12 or 13 away league games lasting until January. Unbelievable. Yet early that season we went to Oldham (a division above us) and drew 4-4 after winning the first leg 2-1 at Burnden. Not a derby that ranks high - but a lot of interesting trips there down the years!! Pretty sure we have never played them in this competition before.

  42. So what we're looking for, based on the ferocious arguments on this thread, is a news outlet that is as near to being unbiased as possible, whilst also accepting that even then, one or two staffers may fuck it up? Or, do we all just want overtly political news outlets that become an echo chamber for our own beliefs? Seems to be that everyone agrees GB News are on the right? Talk TV is on the right? The BBC get criticism from both sides so by definition is probably very close to centre?

  43. I have heard Rudy has him on a special regime and diet. Couple of good things on Saturday were when ACD was subbed three or 5 players just applauding hiM as he went and then the reaction to the Dempsey goal you could see the players knew what it meant. I do think we have to be cautious with our optimism though, clearly things have stepped up a level but it is all very fine margins. Burton was only 3 games ago. Lots to be positive about but need to keep our focus and not launch HMS Pisstheleague just yet.

  44. Walsall as well off top of my head. Bury and then Port Vale made up for it all though 😃 That Bradford day was great, proper big game feel, they'd been forcing a rivalry with us all season as well. Last away game this season could be similar.
