Parky and his style of football wasn’t sophisticated and wasn’t my cup of tea. He did, however, have the kind of know-how you need to get promoted. In particular, he knew that you need centre halfs who can defend and also be very dangerous from set pieces. Also carried himself with dignity when what was going on at the club was a Grade A shitshow

The problem we had on day one at Stockport, we still have to date. we don’t score enough when we are on top. countless games we should have been out of sight and then concede. we will make the playoffs but then who knows…..

Emails Andrew received detailing the trade deals involved in his work as an envoy were forwarded to JE within 5 minutes of him receiving them. These enabled the whizz financier to effectvely do large scale bets on insider information. Andrew also mentions his network, and specifically Abu Dhabi, so JE wasn't the only contact he passed secret valuable information to. Nothing to do with sex with minors just plain simple large scale treasonable behaviour costing the UK and its taxpayers money. Not difficult to think he got something in return for priceless information. Much the same for Mandelson, but at least personal greed appears to be the motive as far as he is concerned.

I like SS and realise he's only a short while in to the project. But he's not immune from criticism. Dalby upfront with Dempsey in that role just doesn't work. All that possession and all that pressure in the first lead to fuck all as it was all crosses into the box to Dalby who had 3 6ft blokes all over him. He was slow to react in the 2nd half too. That being said he can't stop our keeper committing suicide and our shambolic defending for the other. The way our heads went is a major concern. Toal completely went to pieces. I had us in good nick before yesterday, thought we were pretty strong in the face of adversity but yesterday has sucked the life out of me. Weak as piss and the manager made one too many bad calls. Worrying.

High risk, low reward pass that shouldn't be attempted at 1-1 with Blackpool having their tails up

Blimey. I couldn't disagree more. Erhahon has been superb since he came in imo
  9. Just think of the names who weren't on it - Campo, Jussi, Bruno etc........that could have been 10 hours long and I wouldn't have been bored for a single second
  10. Wow - No long post needed. That was fucking brilliant

Josh Sheehan is a bloody great player. He's our beat player on the ball and can dictate and control the whole flow of a game. He was poor yesterday though. Mainly because they were on him like a rash, we've seen this many times before. Especially when he's only got EE and Demps as his outlet, he was stranded and bang under the cosh. Some games suit him, some don't.

I think it's really unlikely Sharon decided to get rid of Parky in favour of appointing an out-of-work Keith Hill on a twelve-month trial contract

Spurs could genuinely go down. They’re awful and have a team full of mentally weak players with a short term manager.

Absolutely. But on a page that was largely critical of Sheehan and with someone asking the question “what do you see?” I don’t agree that “Everyone knows the blokes abilities” 😊 FWIW I do acknowledge Sheehans weaknesses. He’s not physical and he can go missing in games, lacking consistency. I suspect that’s why he’s still playing L1 football.

This is the sort of toxicity we need. Thanks to folk like you, successive managers have been hounded out to prevent us being dragged into non-league football. You, and thousands of football manager experts in the stands, go loyally down to the stadium for every home game with a bellyful of boos and vitriol at the ready. We might even sneak a win, but you and The Lads will be on hand to remind us all how shit the manager is because the left back was wearing flamboyant boots. Parky was hounded out, criticised, insulted from the stands and that has proven to be another win for The Lads. Giving managers a fair chance is for wimps.

I'm not one of these "boot it long" merchants, but under no circumstances should that ball be played to Sheehan when he's being tightly marked like that. Instead by Sheehan pulling a midfielder towards our goal there should be space behind for a long ball. Yet I can't blame the goalie, it's clearly management instruction as it's done at every club. High risk, low reward football I'll never understand. I imagine goals from this passing around at the back would have been on blooper reels even as late as the 2000s but it seems an accepted part of the games these days.
  17. I've ADHD, plays out in a very different way as i associate work as a coping mechanism as I can't switch off. Hence why as soon as it's in my head that "i don't like work" in which ever way, I have to find a new job, or start a new hobby. As a lot on here will have spotted, this pretty much runs my life. Being aware of it helps, and unstructured time off work is actually worse for me. Despite really liking my new school, I'm thinking what to do in case I get sacked.. And I can't shrug off that thought. First time I ever got 100% on a test though! More people are being diagnosed, which can only help people understand how they tick, but the issue is that in our fast paced modern world, our brains have to conform and work much more than we ever had to. We're pushed and turbocharged with processed food, social media, and an education system that's been tweaked so much that it's not fit for purpose for a lot of people. I started my masters in Inclusive Education in 2019.. The SEN focus was to get kids in mainstream by making reasonable adjustments. Reasonable being the key words. Now that's become childrens "needs", where they shouldn't be expected to try and fit in, towards people wanting Specialist Provision, and not inclusion... The educational system isn't set up for such a huge shift in such a short space of time. We've also got an influx of people home schooling and then sending their kids back into school in year 10/11, at which point they're out of the loop as such, bringing on other issues. It's a mess. This is of course coupled with some (not all), seeking diagnosis for financial reasons. I've spoken to plenty of people who have said they are entitled to "xyz" because of etc..

  21. The breadth of the expertise we sought from the sporting world was insane Sending our communications officer to the Dallas Mavericks, having Michael Jordan's psychologist give a talk to the players, Kevin Nolan speaking to Graeme Smith about the challenges of being a young captain I also enjoyed the snippets about paying £6,000 per month to import the gas for the cryotherapy machine from the Czech Republic, "the war room", Sam having Roy Keane round his house for three hours when he was leaving United, Sam travelling to Pep's house to have a conversation about his potential signing

  23. I still argue with my mates that pound for pound he's the best signing in Premier League history. £100k for over 500 games through the good and the bad times. What a signing he was.
  24. That was amazing but to see the impact he had on Okocha and Youri and the fact they gave so much time to the documentary speaks volumes about the respect he gained from the world class players
  25. He can't possibly have writtsn that. There are no superfluous capital letters! 😁

I think the issue here and why there's so much debate on teamsheet and formation is we have an issue with the squad being too big. Means players are being chopped and changed too much imo and some are missing match day squads completely ruining any rhythm. I get the dilemma, we wanted options in January to freshen it up, but we're carrying 2/3 players too many and it means we still don't really have a clue what our best team is three quarters of the way into the season. Time to get a settled team and stick with it barring injuries, suspension or horrendous form, to build for the play offs.

I don't rate Sheehan at all in a 2 man midfield, there's too many compromises and for what? a decent pass or 2 every few games, it's not enough, AT THIS level you need the physicality of a Simons or even Dempsey. People who do rate him tell me what you see?

Whilst not particularly disagreeing with you i think you are more pissed off because of the oppostion.......it was hardly a remarkable performance or result in the scheme of things, we have become masters of groundhog football.

The XG is massively misleading on this though as most teams are completely happy to sit back for the nil nil against us. Yes we've missed chances but if we score the chance earlier the opposition will attack, and the evidence is that we'll panic and concede quickly. That would balance the XG more to where it feels like it should be based on watching the games i.e. we're usually slightly better than the opposition, create a lot of half chances, and then give away big chances on little spells of pressure. We need to defend better as well as taking our chances

Shooting is as much of a skill as passing, heading etc. At some point it stops being about luck and is down to quality. None of these guys have been prolific at this level or above (Forss was the only one close to that) so it's not massively surprising. If you averaged out their goals in L1/above across their careers people like Burstow and Dalby are probably overachieving.

Watch out for Plymouth pipping the others for 6th spot now they’ve got all their injured back and are really thriving.

In the last week we dropped 6 points. In two of those games we scored in added time. We drew against our biggest rivals for 2nd place ... a real '6 pointer'. So instead of being 3 points behind Lincoln it's now 10. Are we shite ? ... no. Are we good ? ... we could be, but we aren't, sadly. Same questions & same answers apply to our manager.

57 big chances missed, second only to Cardiff. I could go on.

Anytime from when we'd scored, but certainly after they'd scored, the risk should have been dialled down and the ball kept away from our area till we'd had chance to take the heat out of their revival

Why do I think it'll click? There's obvious quality in the squad with the likes of CBT, Apter, Dalby, Burstow, Rodriguez, Kenny etc, but they've not gelled yet. They've hardly played together and they're not all match fit. I'm more concerned about the defence, which wasn't great last season and hasn't been improved.

I don't disagree on the loss of heads, but don't think that means they're not following instruction. Probably the opposite as they're panicking and relying on what they've been told to do rather than reading the game. It took Bonham 4 dangerous passes into midfield on his home debut before he got the message from the crowd not to do that and he started playing it wide or long. In training that pass into centre mid probably works a treat because the pressure isn't as much, the press from the attacker isn't as intense etc. Back to the point on panicking, we completely lose heads the moment anyone attacks us. Against Barnsley people were saying we needed Sheehan in to control possession to stop the opposition getting on top, but yesterday shows it's a collective issue irrespective of whoever plays. Once the opposition have to start attacking, rather than just sitting back, we go to pot. The reason we haven't conceded more is purely because we don't score many so the opposition stay in defensive mode for most of the game.

I was until that ball out for Blackpools 2nd Utter , utter bollocks!!!
  42. I'd like that to become a regular fixture again, without Chorley gaining League status.
  43. Speaking purely from our families knowledge of ADHD and autism, unless you were overly disruptive in class then these things weren't picked up in the 80s/90s. Doesn't mean kids didn't struggle, just were able to scrape by without raising any alarms. For me I was able to fly by the seat of my pants though school and get C grades with last minute coursework and smashing my exams. Once I lost the structure and restrictions of school and was left more to my own devices in college and my failed attempts at uni I struggled massively. Had this been picked up when I was a kid and I'd got the support that's available nowadays I could've gone on to be 'much more successful' in my education and thus life. I love my life now and I wouldn't want it any different but there is still that thing of 'what if' about it all.
  44. Well that was utterly brilliant Safe to say that 6-7 yrs was the greatest period of my life following this football club of ours. I would live it all again in a heartbeat and not take a second of it for granted even if the current or even future lot served up a tiny portion of that sides success, the enjoyment it brought, the unity we felt because of it I would die a happy man what a period, what a football club

I've said it before - and here I go again - our problem is our weak centre halves, especially the 2 that have been here for years. They're both extremely weak in the air - being good/strong in the air should be a non-negotiable asset of any centre half. Yes, they both, quite often, win defensive headers, but their inability to direct the ball anywhere near accurately is painful. I studied Toal's defensive challenges in one game recently (headers and kicks) and 90% of them resulted in the ball going directly to the opposition. This is profoundly illustrated whenever we get a corner, where any competent centre half should be offering a serious goal threat and subsequently relieving some of the pressure on our strikers; yes, Toal eventually found the net the today, but bloody hell, we had 15 corners! In summary, the weakness of our 2 main centre halves causes us persistent problems at both ends of the pitch, added to their continued persistence to revert to their sideways and backwards comfort zone - they absolutely must be replaced in the summer, whatever division we're in.

Not read any other posts. Thought Blackpool were fantastic today. Dodgy at the back, dangerous going forward and made for probably the best game we've seen at the Reebok this season. We scored and then one manager reacted and the other didn't. What's worrying is that you would have no idea which one was challenging for promotion and which was struggling down near the bottom. I standby that we have made ZERO progress under SS.
  47. The money wasn't there to spend. Megson got the next tranche of SKY money. Neither Eddie Davies nor the banks were willing to loan the club that money, Sam was pretty much told he had to wait for funds. Sam spit the dummy out right at the end of the season at a time too late to spend any money anyway. The whole thing was handled badly by all involved. I think a lot of people forget that PG was really just the buffer between the money holder and the money spender.
