Your generation were able to buy their council houses for a song, and sell them at ballooned profit. Your generation enjoyed free higher education, while today the average student debt is around £50k. You might say, "I didn't need a degree, I went to the University of Life". Yep, because with unionised workforces actually manufacturing things in this country before Thatcher's axe, your generation enjoyed good jobs, for life, just by scraping a couple of O Levels. Today, any job paying above pot washing or glass collecting (and having done both, I am not knocking either) expects further qualifications to even get past the first sift. I wouldn't dispute that you have worked hard for what you have, but your suggestion that those younger than you have a "sheltered life" is plain fucking ignorant. The ability to check your own privilege is seemingly a concept beyond so many of your age group. With such a closed world view, I'm really not surprised you and so many myopic others within your privileged, selfish generation are falling for Farage's lies. Just reading through the pretty vitriolic posts from last night it is scarey how the blaming ‘them’ culture is spreading. As well as it being a so far a succesful tactic for Reform you have old folk blaming younger folk for being lazy and not appreciating how easy they now have it. The younger ones are blaming the older ones for not appreciating how hard you have to work these days to think about buying your own home , having to pay to go to Uni. Etc etc. The rose tinted or shit stained view of previous decades and generations is pretty inaccurate and blaming each other is a sure way to ensuring not a lot happens to improve things. The country is not broken, it is like so many people doing its best to get by as it has done every decade that I can remember.

The inital 'Dodge' policy to cut wasteful spending on 'meaningless council red tape and pointless jobs' means we were lucky to have only a propsed 4% council tax hike. So, in your face Traf. On top of that - the overspend this year was only 49 million and that's being reduced by selling council owned assets to pay for everyday council functions. And let's not forget the fact we've saved £100 million of which nearly 40 million came from the scrapping of two net zero projects, and what is even more briilaint these two projects never actually exsisted. You may mock but when this was pointed out they knew what they were doing and it was a future cost avoidence measure. See! Saving money that wasnt actually on the books to be saved in the first place. Now thats some serious forward planning. So mock all you want, but the roads are as smooth as the channel on a summer's day, I get a personal sedan to the drs when required as we pass loads of 'immigrunts' being sent back to internment camps AND there are less DFL-ers which means the county is for local people only (if you want to get a ferry piss off to Southampton) and I don't get put in jail for saying I'm English like the rest of the woke folk.

Problem with PR is the increasing likelihood of mixed, coalition type governments. Might sound good, but a strong chance that nothing actually gets done. All these parties may also make coalitions more likely, but they can be formed from similar minded parties, as opposed to every Tom, Dick and Harry each wanting their own piece of the cake. At least under the current system, if the incumbents fuck up, they can be kicked out, and someone else given a chance to sort things (or fuck it up of course).

Agreed. This is the norm now though. Many political movements across the globe (typically but not exclusively on the right), thrive by playing on people’s fears and creating divisions in society. Victimising and blaming other group(s) of people for what’s wrong and why their own lives aren’t better. It’s easy to do and difficult to counter. Last night on here was a case in point. It’s so frustrating and unnecessary what’s kicking off. Fundamentally I blame both Labour and the Tories, not Reform voters. For the last 20 years between them they have not listened to the concerns of the majority of normal folk. They have not created and delivered a vision for what a functioning, fair society should look like, both to care for those with genuine needs so they’re not viewed as “scroungers”, but also to encourage/force people to get off their backsides and work hard, and aspire to better themselves and their families. It shouldn’t be that hard. Most people want the same thing. Good schools, good healthcare, safe streets, decent housing, food on the table, a holiday once a year, a wanderers season ticket……but yes, controls on immigration and rich folk/companies to pay proper taxes. Without this though the populist parties led by self-serving grifters and backed by wealthy individuals see an opportunity to become even richer and more powerful. They stoke fears and frustration, and getting disillusioned folk to vote for them without knowing that doing so will actually make their own lives worse. Solutions? Need a strong, independent media to highlight the lies and corruption behind populism…..and also the main parties to find real leaders and serve the needs of the majority of people in the country.

Agree but just lack of respect of others opinions is the biggest issue, fuelled massively by social media. Your opinions are driven by your experiences so we are all going to different as we always have been. But when social media is convincing people that their experience is what they read rather than what they do it just does not help

Rodrigues for McAtee for me there, with one of Simons/Dempsey/Erhahon alongside Sheehan Gale's pace is an urban myth, he either isn't actually that quick or is too slow setting off or isn't going full throttle. His finishing and positional awareness are both poor and he's not a team player.

I’m clinging to the idea that this whole Kenny thing is a grand plan - very much hope rather than expectation. If Kenny isn’t fit and Dalby is even close to fitness then my guess would be that he starts, he’s a battler and I think is one that would declare himself fit when only 70% there. If it is genuinely worst case scenario and Kenny is out and Dalby is only fit enough for the bench (with an eye on him starting on Thursday) then we are a bit fucked any which way we go. Personally, I think McAtee has proven that he’s a waste of space. Doesn’t offer much going forward but also doesn’t bolster us in midfield, it’s like playing with 10.5 players. I’d accept the fact that we’re going to be weaker up top, put an extra midfielder in (any of EE, Simons or Dempsey) and at least improve the midfield by making us more solid. It also means you’d be able to give your wingers a bit more freedom as they’d have extra coverage and I’d specifically be telling ACD to float wherever he wants and get around Burstow at every opportunity. The crux of it is my view on McAtee. He’s lose / lose in terms of attack / midfield, whereas at least one of the other 3 is lose / win.

Never ever play that card with me. I worked with some of those brown faces that used to put into the economy. Immigration played a big part in helping this country off its knees in the 50s and 60s. I would take a 100 Indian Doctors, Nurses from the Caribbean than a 1000 Brittish whites who never put a bean into the economy.
