Usual doom mongers already doing what they do consistently and before we have any idea what our first game line up will be yet. I honestly don't understand how or why folk live their lives like that, it is so fucking soul destroying.
  2. and one of these to keep track of progress

Thing people need to realise is that if Ben or Famewo HAD played more games last season, they'd be out of our budget and they probably wouldn't sign for us anyway. If you want even an average Championship centre back, who's under 30 and played most of last season as first choice, you're probably looking at someone like Jordan Storey at PNE, fair enough that'll be £5 million and tbh he probably wouldn’t sign. With Ben or Famewo, we have the chance to get 2, if they can stay fit, top end Championship centre backs. I take that gamble 10/10 times and spend whatever the budget is elsewhere.

Nice to see such a tremendously positive post. Have you ever considered a role at a hospice? 😀
  5. Loved these. A highlight of my youth. The lower, hidden bit, often had interesting info like ground name, capacity, club nickname. I used to to a self invented shuffle-game with them &, though I never cheated (🤣😱) Bolton regularly won the league.

I thought we'd basically fucked it. I'd been fearing an away play off second leg every season since we got back into L2. And if we somehow got through that I was scared shitless of going back to Wembley after Oxford. In the end, all 3 games couldn't have been better days and nights if you scripted them. It's a season that will still be getting talked about in 30 years time.

That sums it up in one. I was raging after that game. Proper raging. Never in a million years did I think we had the chops to beat Bradford over two legs then Stockport at Wembley. Everything happens for a reason...

Fucking hell I was not happy after that game. If only I knew the following 3-4 weeks would be some of the best I've ever had watching Bolton.

Might be cynical but don't think Canada have been that impressive. Wins against Qatar and South Africa, a draw against Bosnia, and defeats against the two genuinely decent teams they came up against (Switzerland and Morocco). Benefits of a soft draw.

  12. Or in other words, a Yorkshireman
  13. In Lineker's case, he was literally sharing pro-Hamas and antisemitic content Unwittingly, but pro-Hamas and antisemitic nonetheless
  14. 5 goals in 71 games for Millwall at the level we will be playing, no thanks.
  15. Booo. A true BWFC fan only read The Buff!
  16. From the mid 70s for 6 or 7 years I kept it upto date every single week - during August. And maybe September but only if we were in the top 4. So not after 77 then. But getting them from Shoot in late July/early August was one of the highlights of pre-season along with getting the fixtures card for all the local teams out of the Pink.
  17. I got barred from one of his pubs for using my phone to change tracks on Spotify Had time to kill one afternoon so popped in for a pint I was the only person in Landlord says I'm not allowed to use my phone in there I said I'm just changing music, I've headphones so it's not like I'm watching some YouTube video on full volume or making a call on loudspeaker and ask why is there a rule It's to encourage people to talk is the reply But I'm the only one here, who am I supposed to talk to? That's not the point So if I came in with a paper, sat down and read it not saying a word to anyone, that would be fine? Yeah So what's the difference? Get out, you're barred

I don't care if he was born on the town hall steps with Fred Dibnah, Ian McKellen and Nat Lofthouse as the three wise man. Not a chance on earth he's good enough for the championship. Like said above he lost his place to a center back for our most important games and would never have started in the memory man at Wembley if it wasn't for Toals injury. And he had an absolute shocker too. He isn't good enough.

    It was great.
  21. I was thinking the other weeek that I've forgotten nearly everything about the Freedman and Lennon periods
  22. 1993 all day long. I know we are still in the midst of it but I don't think we actually all realise what a bat shit crazy season it actually was. Riddled with limbs, comebacks and absolute mayhem. Life defining if your 12 years old.
  23. Just wait until the Facebook memories bring up1 year from the day we lost 1-0 at Port Vale.
  24. The brains of the forum called out that game had bugger all bearing at the time 😂
  25. The kind of figures we'd need to make anything like that work are worth about 17,000 additional pages on the FV thread.

Monday has the potential to be one of the least productive in English history. Shame we can't have an impromptu bank holiday 😁

Fatigue set in for me in the R32, a lot of shite games there. Canada had Croatia, Belgium and Morocco last time and not sure they would have fared any better this time around.
  28. Read somewhere that 40% of those that voted leave are now dead. Don’t know how they worked that out
  29. Same as everyone else mate, we have some right throbbers in our midst, they are genuinely embarrassing.
  30. Very good point and very good post 👏
  31. I don't understand the comment about Stephenson lacking physicality
  32. Ha ha. Getting the Pink was a Saturday evening staple for many years, getting all the results and updated tables as well as stuff about all the local teams, including non league (I know, football geek). The Buff was great for BWFC and not much else! (except Bury). It also stopped being a Saturday evening paper in the 80s, so no football results unlike the old days.
  33. why not, What's the worst that could happen
  34. You could have said exactly that about Osei-Tutu and we got 42 games from him last year. Davies was an unused sub for a further 12 games and Famewo 18 games last season. It's a little unfair to say they were injured or unavailable all season. These lads have 200-300 league appearances under their belt, you don't get that by not being consistent.

    Character him.
  36. Not sure whether it is refreshing to see the honesty re how our new squad is shaping up or to be disheartened by the pessimism. In truth few of us know much about our new signings unless there are folk who watched Kilmarnock and Dundee Utd week in week out last season as well as having seen Ben Davis and Akin Femawo before last season (because neither played much in 25/6). Going only off pedigree and careers to date the two young lads have clear potential. The two central defenders have Championship seasons on their CV but not above mid-table and, as stated, not of late. They may well be upgrades on G|J and (going to back to a year ago) Forrester but perhaps not by loads. Fourth bottom will do - and if that's what it proves to be there will be rough patches next year that we'll need to grit our teeth and live through without the collective fanbase toys being hurled out of the pram. Let's see how we strengthen the attacking areas now.

Magnificent game. What a contrast to the Australia-Egypt game. I hope that Cape Verde get 'goal of the tournament'. This will likely be remembered as the Cape Verde World Cup. They were superb and, other than my 'hip pocket nerve', I am sorry to see them out.

  40. There's just so fckn many of them. My finger's getting numb

  42. He's up and running 🏃‍♂️ Can he play right back? VID-20260702-WA0085.mp4
  43. I'm pretty sure they don't work through transfers one by one till they are a done deal then move onto the next am sure whatever players we're looking at things are in motion, and whatever priority the club might have in various positions, they are on the case we've moved pretty well so far in bringing in new players, and expect this to continue up until the window closes the defensive back line looks decent, as does the midfield, but I'm sure we've not waited till now to start looking at keepers and forwards be reet
  44. What rubbish. The best young prospect we’ve had here since the Rioch days and some of you want him out on loan. Max will be first choice next season as well he should be and he’ll develop here with better quality players around and behind him. Some need to leave off Jack Bonham too and recall that if it weren’t for his late season saves we’d still be in L1 now.

  46. Hi RS, not being any kind of expert on financials I’d be one of the many as puzzled as yourself on the fine financial details but over on the BoltonNuts site we do have one or two posters who are experts on finances. One such is Sluffy who is indeed both knowledgable and experienced in this area and he wanted to add a response as you requested. Unfortunately Sluffy is currently banned from WW so can’t reply himself so has asked if I may do so on his behalf. Naturally I don’t know the situation surrounding sluffy’s ban and I don’t want to tread on any toes but this response doesn’t seem to cross any lines and may be useful and informative to us all in understanding the subject better. Maybe his access could be reviewed so that he can respond himself in more detail but that is I accept entirely down to the site moderators to decide? Sluffy I am banned from Wanderers Way but would like to answer a question from 'Rival Sun' about BWFC's account's that he asks at the top of page 1839 of their Transfer Thread. The problem is that whoever wrote Iles article (whether it is Iles himself or more likely someone he asked to help him with understanding the accounts, have misrepresented (or misunderstood) the numbers shown. To put it simply three sets of accounts are published, one for the hotel, one for the football club and one combined one for the group. The bit about Group Turnover is correct - 3.75 per cent from £21.3m to £20.5m (the 'group' being the combined hotel, club and holding company). Where it goes wrong is what is written about next. What should have been written is in respect of the football club part of the business only - FVWL (Football) Ltd - to give it its proper company title, is as follows. The accounts for FVWL (Football) Ltd shows that there are actually 401 employees (67 of whom are termed as football players) and that the 'wages' (aggregated remuneration) totals £17,110,989 The turnover for FVWL (Football) Ltd is shown as being £17,319,038 which does indeed represents 98.7987% of turnover. Regards Sluffy. PS, if my longstanding ban from here could kindly be lifted I would happily answer the other questions you have asked about the accounts in particular the accumulated losses for Football Ventures since they became the owners which are shown to be £39,986,096 as at the last accounts. A further £20,150,000 has since been put in by the owners to keep the club solvent through this season and into next (Note the £40m is a permanent loss to Football Ventures, the £20m since put in does not reduce that loss instead it is the money needed to carry on trading).
