  1. The problem is we might not improve on Evatt, getting rid means we will be starting from scratch, new manager new coach’s, new scout, a shake up of playing staff, new system and style of play and more likely less chance of promotion in year one and a large cash outflow to pay off the old guard. Changing managers is fraught with danger and no guarantee of success… and for all those reasons I’m firmly in the stick with Evatt camp,

  4. If we don't go up, Evatts got enough credit in the bank for another crack imo. As long as we throw the kitchens sink at it. Fan patience won't last long into a new season mind and a lot boils down to the board trusting him with another few million.

  5. Simple answer. Yes I would Bolty, we are where we are because of the strength of the squad, but we've still had our keeper, our (according to some) star defender and our only recognised goalscorer injured. If none of the above had come to pass we'd have been out of sight and already promoted.

  6. This is a really conflicted, heart-felt post, so I’m not even sure it’ll make sense when I read back. I was coming on here to be negative, to say that was a defeat too many, our record in big games needs addressing, why are we not turning footballing dominance into goals/victories? I’ll not go on, why? Because it’s already been said/debated…. In a multitude of repeated posts. Instead I’m going to moan about my observations after defeats, more amplified on other social media but also on here. Why do people feel the need to to nail their colours to the mast on a negative viewpoint, then after a defeat/poor performance rush onto the net to repeatedly share their opinion/evidence to justify their opinion as if they are somehow finding some solace in us losing because it backs up what they have been saying all along?! It’s really fucking depressing, almost more so than the performance itself! Then when someone tries to be positive or offer an alternative viewpoint, which God forbid might mean us proving the doubters wrong and getting promotion, they are dismissed and laughed off as happy clappers and their opinions are pie in the sky fantasy. If all these opinions below had credence to them, there’s no way we’d be third, still in with a chance of promotion! - All sorts of negativity about our manager; thin skinned, no plan B, talks too much, too rigid, too stubborn, arrogant - Any number of our players not being good enough; Coleman, Jones, Maghoma, all our strikers, all our wing backs. - Our formation and tactics are wrong - Players not playing who should be playing; Forrester, Dempsey - No way we can get promoted with our form - No way we can get promoted with our record in “big” games Theres a crazy number of posts saying the same thing, almost as if it’s making some folk feel better that someone else shares their negative opinion and it justifies your; anger, disappointment, need not to go, not to invest emotional energy, find a different pastime… whatever negative decision you’re choosing to make next in your life concerning Bolton Wanderers. The large majority of us, well maybe not @Zog1 share in the joy when we win and vent when we lose, I get that. But it doesn’t need the constant/repeated drivel justifying your negative viewpoint. @tomski is probably the best advocate of how to manage a negative viewpoint. He made it clear he’s not IE biggest fan, but he’s been really clear he’d love to be proved wrong and gives credit where it’s due. What he doesn’t do is constantly go on about it and jump on straight away with criticism to back up his viewpoint when things go wrong. Think we can all learn from that.

  15. Well not really when we've spent the past 4 years instilling a philosophy across the club based on data, analytics and the whole club is geared around him and his methods. It'd be some upheaval if he was to go. The club have invested a hell of a lot of dough in to him and his methods. We've had nothing but progress during his tenure, at the first flat line it'd be pretty unfair to pot him imo. It's not like the season has been a disaster.

  17. Fully agree……human nature being what it is though I just think that there is a stronger possibility of this if we’re still in with a shout of the automatics for as long as possible.

  19. Luckily, I don't normally have to go into Hospital. This weekend I spent 24 hours there (before RW, Bolty and Mounts start worrying, it wasn't for me) also sorry if this is a rant but had 5 hours sleep in the last 3 days. I honestly can't describe how much they are doing with so much with so little, spent 24 hours with 15 other patients and families in a corridor. Having said that over the weekend we got health and mental health assesments (the CAMS team out at 2am on a saturday with a two hour session) but as the consultant said on his morning rounds, not enough beds, not enough nurses, not enough doctors. Despite the security team we had to notifiy them as some dodgy bloke was wandering around the corridor ward all night and trying to speak/follow round an 16 year old girl who was there overnight on with a drip with a severe chest infection by herself, she was next to an old bloke who had a kidney problem - the best the patients got as bigger seats and at least I could drive home and get food, change of clothes etc. Me and my mrs were getting water and buying snacks for folks as there wasn't anyone to sort out for them (the teams on food service when it was there , were brilliant though) None of the patients had any private areas - folk embarresed to vomit despite obvious sickness because, well its in front of people. We got amazing treatment, but just seeing everything was a real eyeopener on how stretched to capacity things are. Again, no issues with the treatment - totally first class by every person who we saw, lord knows how they do it and keep their calm with some people. Hats off to the NHS, not so much perhaps how its valued.

  21. Think we'd have coped ok with Charles out for a few weeks - felt he needed a break and refresh. But since then we've lost CMG and Vic, and Charles' recovery had a setback. Timing's shit, obviously, but especially as CMG was starting to look sharp and Vic imo had looked good prior to his injury. We have a seven game - possibly ten - season to look forward to. This can still all end on a massive high.

  23. Am I getting this right. A journalist is claiming (without any evidence) that the six bbc employees he names are the BBC Verify team. And this is based on their obvious bias based on their twitter profile. And that the BBC is therefore biased towards one side. This is his profile : Hardly unbiased himself, but its on the internet, so people will believe him. FWIW, I have no idea who the BBC verify people are, and I guess that no-one else here does either.

  24. Derby have. Collins is their top scorer with same goals as Dion and put for months, and Vickers was their number one keeper in Jan/Feb, injured and they've had to go back to Wildsmith. The injuries are just excuses. Winners find a way to win. We need to get into that mindset

  25. The answer to your question is, I think, no But it's not like they are the only important players in a team That list might include pompeys best and most influential players Derby lost their top goal scorer though, and 20 minutes in lost their in form prolific scorer brought in to replace him, and still scored more than us So we're all suffering

  26. Honestly, no. Top 2 was (hopefully still is) a doable minimum for me. Appreciate that’s solely my opinion but anything below where we are now would be clear underachievement. I’ll call what this looks like in our current position at the end of the season.

  27. There's a first time for everything! I can absolutely assure you that I have never been called that before. I have the urge to nip over the street and borrow Maria's rosary before I head off to the shopping centre I used to do quite a bit of business with Bord Na Mona and the lads I got to know over there (all Dubs supporters) introduced me to Smithwick's which I got to really like. They were reet pissed off when I ordered a round without pronouncing the 'w'

  28. They beat Peterborough with this injury list and lost another striker after 32 minutes yesterday. The Blues have had little luck with injuries this season, despite their lofty position at the top of League One. As well as Lane, Pompey went into today’s important game without the injured Regan Poole, Joe Morrell, Terry Devlin, Alex Robertson, Tom McIntrye, Connor Ogilive, Tom Lowery, Ben Stevenson, Tino Anjorin and Anthony Scully.

  34. According to the BBC, they had 10 shots to our 6. 3 on target each. 6 corners each. Us ahead 54-46 in the possession stakes. They had one goal to our none. They needed a striker to get them over the line and signed an aging cast-off on a free. He's scored three goals in six matches (before getting injured yesterday... other team's also suffer injuries). We spent £750k on the L1 POTY who's got two in twelve. Let's not become Moral Victory FC. We have plenty of advantages of our own to make the most of.
