Moderators Casino Posted March 27 Moderators Share Posted March 27 seen the quote from evatt now seems abrupt but without context, ie was it the third time he was asked, i suppose we just have to take it as it is do we even know if baxter is training? auckland_bwfc
I don't normally tune in to all the pte match build up so this is a genuine question...but do managers ever rule players out completely like that and then come match day they trot out..? Did his own warm up doing kick ups on an empty pitch. Tremendous.

Got a lifeline last week, and although we're still missing strikers, we're pretty strong elsewhere, and still have enough quality in the front line. Time to show how much they want it. It would also put the willies up Derby.

Arrested development
I think it comes across more like he's pissed off that dion went and he doesn't want to say anything that will get him into trouble. But I think he'd be more annoyed with northern Ireland for calling him up when he clearly wasn't going to play.

RUREADY2ROLL
Everyone should be concentrating on beating Stevenage and forget this crap at this point in time. Nobody but IE knows and TBH I don’t care as long as we get 3 points Friday

These lads are made of glass. Just had a quick google search to check my memory. Loads of top class managers; Ferguson (probably the most!) Klopp and Allardyce displaying very similar traits to Evatt when challenged on injury (well any!) controversies. Tetchy, blunt, angry, annoyed, interviewer given short-shrift. And God forbid arrogant, stubborn etc the characteristics that get trotted out as criticism. Why is this challenged, viewed as unprofessional and criticised so much and seen as a negative when it’s how some of the best managers in the world respond? I think I'd probably offer a minor caveat in that the question was posed by the club's own media manager rather than a hostile or neutral journalist

If he’s just shot the nice bloke down without any prior warning then, ok, bit harsh, maybe. If, as Iles suggests, Evatt’s given a response and said “That’s all I’ve got to say”, then nice, club media manager tries again, short-shrift seems perfectly reasonable to me, not unprofessional at all.
