Site Supporter FrancisFogarty Posted April 19 Site Supporter Share Posted April 19 Was it Hereford we played in a cup, drew at Burnden, drew at their place and there was a replay at Cardiff ? Or have I dreamt it ?

Stig
8 hours ago, Marc505 said: Edit - thinking about it i know how they'd do this. They'll set it as a "derbies" round, and chaff like Fulham v Brentford will be the earlier kick off first part of a double header culminating with Arsenal v Spurs. Newly promoted Bolton v yo-yo side Burnley as the appetiser for United v City at MetLife Stadium. Like Magic Weekend. Sad thing is I can see this happening

Also had 2nd replays with Fulham at St Andrews & memorably, Newcastle at Leeds.

I couldn't believe a replay with Hereford would even be at Cardiff anyway. I knew Cardiff was in it somewhere.

Site Supporter Cheese Posted April 20 Site Supporter Share Posted April 20 If playing FA Cup replays is "too much" for clubs competing in the Champions League, let them opt out of the FA Cup altogether, but also fine them for it. Don't fuck with the competition format and ruin it for hundreds of smaller clubs just to suit the richest 10. It fucking stinks.

My choice for that role would be ANDY BURNHAM who would ask the appropriate questions. He was doing so well until he suggested the avowed chancer, liar and 'not sure if he's a Scouser or a Manc' wanker Burnham get any role whatsoever. Burnham should focus on his early onset Alzheimers ... as he has just entirely forgotten visiting Ms. Rayner at her home, several times. Of course, he's not named him without his tacit agreement. Traf
We need to scrap replays so that elite players aren't too tired to play lucrative pre- and post-season exhibition games in the Far East or USA. Just think about the poor lambs, won't you?
gonzo
Not to mention to expansion of the Champions League, addition of nations league and international friendlies. How many actual replays involving prem clubs have there been this season?
Site Supporter Tonge moor green jacket Posted April 20 Site Supporter Share Posted April 20 These clubs have squads big enough to put out 2 different teams if they wanted. Not saying they should have to, but by the fuckery, they already play 8 fewer games than efl clubs before any cups. Then the smaller ones play at least 2 more in the fa cup before they can meet. Stop cunting whining.
Moderators Zico Posted April 20 Moderators Share Posted April 20 The big clubs should have squads capable of dealing with any replays that might come their way If they don't fancy it, play the kids, like Liverpool did on their winning carabao cup run
Moderators Zico Posted April 20 Moderators Share Posted April 20 Or just everyone have bigger squads of up to 30 or something

MalcolmW
The majority of clubs entering the competition still face replays - in the Preliminary and Qualifying Rounds (and Extra Prelim too). I am fairly sure that for most of these clubs replays never make money but do cause unnecessary extra work. Let me add that the chairman of the FA is my partner's niece (yes really). I haven't spoken to her (the chairman - not my partner) since her 60th birthday bash at the start of the season.
