They certainly looked decent against Barnsley but then to be fair the Tykes were really poor and I think they’ll really struggle this season. Baccus looked excellent first half but largely anonymous in the second period. They’ll still be full of confidence after their promotion but we should have more than enough to see them off.

So you’d need a sky subscription I think for Tuesday, unless your dodgy provider finds a way of steaming the Sky Plus matches for these league cup games.

I'm absolutely certain that if the match is being shown somwhere legitimately, that it will also be on dodgy

my provider has a section called "Sky Sports Red Button"

and a new one called "Sky Sports + Test!"

be reet then

I have a feeling that if Matete has a decent pass to a team mate in his locker he'd be a regular rather than a sub this season so I'd like to see him start against Mansfield.

Everyone saying he has something to prove and tomorrow night would be a good time to start.

If you dont have Sky or dodgy and want the game a NOW TV day pass is £14.99 to get the game . A fiver increase from last season . No Wanderers TV as Sky have the league cup .

Injuries pilling up so gotta play as many fringe as possible .

out Injured we have Forrester , Lolos , CMG , Williams , Dempsey .

So a team of

Southwood

Forino , Johnstone, iredale

Matheson Morley Matete Arfield  Tutu

Dan & Vic

Bench of Coleman , Khumbeni, Macatee and other reserves , i would go for.

Wouldn't mind us having a little go at the LC.

Not to the detriment of the league of course, but I hope there's still a strong enough side to progress against Mansfield, who will probably make a few changes of their own.

Am I right in thinking the PL sides not in Europe join in the next round, and there are no replays? Would fancy us at home to a slightly weakened Everton or Wolves for example - should we get there!

Sack the Papa John's off though.

Yes, believe so on both. It's not very disruptive for the first 4 rounds and gives a chance to get the second 11 match fit and involved, so I hope we progress. But definitely put out a different 11 than Saturday

Each to their own of course , but Im a bit different. Back in the day the FA Cup was everything now I couldnt give a shit , which is scandalous . I was into the Milk Cup when we had a chance of winning it , was into the FA cup when it was the dogs bollocks . Now sacrifice both senior cups , let the fringe /B team play for the Sherpa Van , win it fuckin ey , lose and nobody gives a shit (except plymouth ) and power on to promotion with all those lads having 10 cup games + under their belts.

Disappointed to read the general apathy towards the cup competitions. Might be an age thing (I’m late 50s) but cup runs, and the cups in general, have always been important to me.

I do expect changes tonight, but in a positive way. So, starts for the new boys - McAtee, Matete, Tutu - and possibly for returning players - Johnston, Forino - as well as rotations - Adeboyejo for Charles.

Therefore, I’ll be one of the thousand or so hardy souls, expecting a changed, but still strong lineup; and a win. 😀

I know this is a League Cup thread, and I'll be there tonight hoping for a win, but just had a gander at dates of BSM Cup rounds...Q/F is Tuesday 28th Jan and we've already got a game that day v Northampton!

Final is 12th April when we're at Barnsley, that would be another (relatively local) Saturday away game biting the dust.

People are wary of the cup competitions because they're one of the main reasons in the last two seasons we have lost promotion due to both injuries, tiredness and repeated midweek matches with not enough recovery time. Personally hope we don't take them too serious and lose our main objective this season.

I feel like the BSM has given the other cups a bad name.  They get lumped together as "cup distractions" but the BSM is 8 matches if you get to the final, absolute minimum will be 4 but more likely 5 plus.  League Cup is rarely more than 2, and are to some extent an extension of pre-season friendlies, in terms of getting players match fit at a time when they are getting used to each other and are all raring to go, no fatigue issues and even the better weather makes the earlier rounds a positive rather than negative for me.  I'm hoping we get through and have a decent match to look forward to in round 2, Boro last year was a good 'un.

We haven't had Barnsley away on a Saturday in what seems like forever, considering how many times we have played there recently.
