Cheers for sharing.

As always, in my point of view, his more considered interviews are ok.

There is no way of sugar coating, excusing or passing off a defeat like Saturday. And to be fair he doesn’t try to.

I’m not trying to say that everything in the last 4/5 pages of the Brand Evatt thread should be dismissed or that the pendulum should swing to giving him a chance.

Just simply, that if there is any way to front up after a 5-0 defeat then that wasn’t a bad effort.

Mmm, funny how we all see things differently.

I nearly turned it off halfway through as, to me, he was just coming out with the same stock answers.

Imo, he didn’t offer anything different that might improve things in future.

I felt the bit about him identifying mental state/fragility and him taking that responsibility was fair. I felt he put himself more in the firing line as apposed to the players.

And he totally put the focus on Blackpool, not the Fleetwood game.

Listen, there’s far more to be critical about and the big question remains that he’s had plenty of time to sort this and talk now is very cheap.

And while he claims the players are 100% behind him (again I think he makes a good case) I’m not convinced.

Like I said it doesn’t alter my opinion, but I didn’t think it was too bad. I’m not sure what he could have said that would offer something different to change the doubters minds of things improving?

You’re right, he couldn’t offer anything different because everyone has heard it all before and nothing changes, well sometimes it does for a few games but then we’re soon back to square one.

He could have discussed his tactics and in-game management and how he will look at how the team is set up and if he can make us more resilient and not as flaky when things aren’t going right..

He could have said he was going to try a different formation and tactics tomorrow night as the game is irrelevant.. He could have explained why he chose to pick unwell players instead of using his squad. Randall wasn’t even used as a sub, yet Cogley was supposedly one of the ill players..

He could have given an opinion of why he thinks these poor performances/results keep popping up, because he mentioned that we always have those dodgy performances in us, so why hasn’t he worked out why?

He could have said why he didn’t try and change the game and how we were set up when it clearly wasn’t working..

He could’ve said a lot but didn’t..

All good points

Like I said, he’s had plenty of time to address these problems and talk now is very cheap.

He could have said all of that and more, he could have offered something different to try and change the doubters mind, he’d have probably got even more criticism. Would those words have convinced anyone?

No

Great post. That is exactly the kind of stuff a manager should be focusing on, as they're the things he can control. Instead Evatt's comments are always excuses of what other people have done with a disingenuous "I'll always look at myself and hold myself to high standards" added.

Another point is he mentions "not being able to be there all the time at training" again today in the BN. What is he doing...? Surely turning up is part of his job.

Although as Desperado says, whatever he says now makes no difference. It's gone too far.

A no win game for IE, go through & it's damaging to our league chances, lose & it's a run of 3 defeats & a stick to beat him with

For me, I actively hope we lose, we're better off out of this , it's the B/pool game that matters now.

Fair play, at least you can say you have been part of the lowest home crowd in history.

It will be the new Darlington. 😂

Interesting line up.

JDG must be injury proof (there I’ve jinxed it).

Choosing to play him suggests Evatt really doesn’t trust Mattheson.

I mean I’ve never been convinced, but surely a run out tonight made sense?
