That's not exclusive to us though. Every fan base in the league will be saying the same - 10+ players per team, per summer is completely normal.

Last bit on this as I've said more than enough. But at no point have I ever written off the season or said anything like it. In fact, I think there's more than enough talent in the squad and we have more than enough resources to get promoted this season. Nigh on every team that gets promoted from L1 does so in their managers first full season so this is as good a time as any.

That's not a prediction either way, it's just what I think is a very attainable target. But that actually makes me more positive than folk who think we have to wait another year before we can expect to properly compete in the third tier.

Fair enough. I don’t think we’re actually thinking too differently. I expect us to go up this year, I absolutely don’t think we need to wait another year and I’d be critical of SS if we don’t (certainly if we were to say miss the play offs).

I think I’m just less critical of these first 6 games because I do consider them as completely separate to last year, whereas you’re probably a bit more critical because you take last year into account.

By the end of today we can't blame the lineup for any failings. If a gap was that obvious in the tram then he's had time to fix it. If plan A gets injured then it's a different story. But his team Vs Orient should be exactly what he wants it to be.

How you can possibly expect a full squad to be replaced in one window, especially at this level with the funds available I don't know. But sure, if people feel the need or desire to shorten their patience based on one transfer window then that's on them. 

I just think it's wholly unreasonable.

Not on about the full squad but his 1st 11 should be up to the job.

We've signed eleventy wingers so that obviously something he saw was lacking. But other than Taylor he's not brought in any defensive players so either he thinks they're up to snuff or he's not recruited well enough.

I cannot hear any of them commenting on the 2m we have lost on sending two players out on loan

Where has the expectation come from that we need to replace the full squad?

I thought the way Evatt built the side was madness, but there was (and is) plenty of talent in there.

Sheehan, Morley, Toal, Cogley etc. will continue to play not because SS is stuck with them, but because they're good players for this level.

I figured out Evatt in our first year back in League One. Imagine how mental i was towards the end.

SS needs to decide if he wants to die on the wingers cutting in on the inside to shoot non stop hill. If he doesn't stop that he's doomed, because it doesn't work and never would, prime Ronaldo couldn't do it never mind Gale or Duberry.

It did, i said a few times that by adding a proper DM to that team in 22/23 or 23/24 would have meant us going up, because they would have broken up play and sped up transitions.

this is only the case if you think that every club in every league sets out to win every game and their aim is the get promoted or win the title

but it's not the case in reality

the ones who failed will be the ones who had ambitions for a top 6 finish, but didn't make them, or lost in the play offs

and the 4 that went down
