Tombwfc Posted December 2, 2025 Posted December 2, 2025 This next month is shit or get off the pot time for Cissokho and Forss - a pretty easy way to open up funds in January is to send back fringe players on first team wages. Hopefully they can at least start making an impact off the bench. In theory both should be more than useful at this level but it hasn't happened yet. Quote
ianofcleveleys Posted December 2, 2025 Posted December 2, 2025 These games can produce the opposite of the saying 'he's become a better player in his absence'. Someone like Sheehan has somehow become a duffer merely by not turning out in a Mickey Mouse game against a half strength Bradford. Saturday's game arguably gives the opportunity to start with a team like tonight's, albeit Swindon will be a tough handful. If so lets see if a few of those who've impressed tonight can do it again and genuinely ask SS a question before Mansfield. Quote
Johnnyrotten Posted December 2, 2025 Posted December 2, 2025 If next round is in January it can only be the midweek before Wigan away, and they will have a blank midweek. If its away we'll have 4 aways in 11 days unless its a home tie in FA Cup 3rd round. Strangely being in FA Cup 3rd round might mean more rest for some players if we base it on loads of changes for cup ties and next to none for league games. We'd probably play a full strength side at Posh on 10th Jan but a much changed one if its FA Cup. Quote
Domcarey1 Posted December 2, 2025 Posted December 2, 2025 Credit where credit is due to Schuey & the coaches. We’ve got a squad that are bang up for it & we’ll cope when we get injuries. Bradford lost 2 players tonight & they haven’t got anywhere near the same strength in depth. Quote

If he gets recalled in January which is entirely possible the team on tonight’s performance could actually perform at least as well so of course we’d miss the excitement and his individual ability but I’m not sure it would weaken us as much as we may think. We’re not a one man team are we? He's not getting recalled so this point is moot. A 3-0 win and we want half the team out. Just don't get it. Quote

Have you actually seen Forrester play DM or other actual evidence to suggest he couldn’t do a job in that position if we had no recognised alternative through injuries or suspensions? I thought not. Injuries and suspensions as I said. Dont think he ever will - my original comment was merely that I think he has the attributes to be good at it. And it’s a good thing to have versatile players in the squad who can do more than one role if required. Quote

I am not sure how you are saying it is not happening for forss? Not sure about his goals per min, but it will be decent He is the only natural goalscorer in the squad Quote

Come on you’ve got to understand folks responses to your original post - you’ve got folk talking about the “problem we have with ACD” now! 😂 Fair point but what I was trying to say, maybe not very well, was that last night I thought we played so much better as a team. The movement and passing was so much better against what was still a very strong Bradford side who came to win until we completely outplayed them. ACD is as you say our player of the season without doubt but is there a tendency when he plays to just give him the ball and expect him to do all the rest? Without him last night I thought the game flowed better, nobody stood out and everybody linked up so well. It was one game last night but for me it was the best team performance of the season and if we did lose Amario in January, which I don’t think we will, then it gave me the confidence that the other players we have would step up and fill that gap. I've never actually seen my Mum play as DM before either. That doesn't mean SS should be giving her a ring and telling her to go and buy some boots though. Why is it you think he can do a job there but no other manager who sees his ability day in, day out has tried him in that position? Quote
