Agree on Apter, he's in the team because he's left footed. The same can be applied to Johnston if he's not playing as well as either Toal or Forino - if they are at 8 out of 10 and GJ at 6.5, GJ would still play because he's left footed. The same applies to Apter, he doesn't have to be as good as the other wingers to start games. If anyone has earned a start its Burstow, I thought he was awful for 3 or 4 months but credit to him for coming out the other side with a great attitude and a couple of good goals. Quote
Popular Post kent_white Posted March 14 Popular Post Posted March 14 I like Burstow, and he offers us something a bit different. And I'm with you on his attitude. He doesn't moan or grumble when he's benched and always celebrates goals like he's scored them himself. Even when he's off the pitch. His attitude is spot on and I think there's a player in there too. I'd keep him for next year if we got the offer, personally. Quote

Because 1. he's not terrible, as in when Cissoko was off form it was obvious he shouldn't start, Apter isn't at that level, he's neat and tidy in possession 2. he signed him on loan and the expectation from SS, Apter and Charlton would be that he'd start games at least while ACD is out 3. he's left footed. I can't remember one game this season when SS has started a right footer on the right or a left footer on the left when playing with wingers (not wing backs). I'd prefer Gale or Dempsey (not as a winger, we don't have to play 2 wingers) as I think we'd get more from them, but I don't think it will happen. Quote
Chrisj Posted March 14 Posted March 14 20 minutes ago, desperado said: The problem with Apter, is that he’s no Cozier-Duberry. The visual headline stuff just isn’t comparable; speed, goals, trickery-with-pace etc But there’s reasons SS keeps picking him and it’s not because he’s; SS’s favourite, he doesn’t offer anything, he has to stay as part of a side that hasn’t lost etc He’s picking him because he trusts him. He’s picking him because he supports the FB, he’s good in possession, he can put a good ball in the box and he has qualities and experiences of having performed in this league. We’ve not seen this in full effect yet and there’s definite room for improvement, but I’m not having it that SS has a blind spot in his consistent selection of him. I’m not against two attacking wingers today, but it could be risky. I’m interested to hear from the dissenters, Why do you think SS is picking Apter every week? I would never ever start Burstow on the RW yes he has scored two goals from coming on off the flank but going forward he’s no threat won’t beat a man and he loses it. If Apter doesn’t start then either Gale or Cissoko should Quote

Yes progressing nicely thanks lusty. Granddaughter actually, she loves her football and trains at the Rotherham football centre where they’re obviously all close to the Millers, especially as it’s run by Ronnie Moore a Rotherham legend. We’re both really disappointed we’ll miss the game today but at least she won’t have to keep shushing me during the match because we sit in the family stand. Never mind it’s on TV so we won’t miss it totally. 😁 Quote
waffer cup 07 Posted March 14 Posted March 14 (edited) Good to see Rodrigues and Burstow get a start. Edited March 14 by waffer cup 07 Quote

bwfc87 Posted March 14 Posted March 14 That’s a harsh yellow for Erhahon. Warning would have done. Bet he pissed the ref off but shouldn’t effect the decision Quote

Burstow is never a right winger or right midfielder although I get that he adds to our aerial threat at both ends. Quote
Wanderlust Posted March 14 Posted March 14 Rodrigues doesn’t seem quite on it so far and generally we’re a bit off the pace but as long as we don’t concede a daft goal we’ll be fine. Quote
