The day dreaming started by the chelsea penalty area and continued the length of the pitch and nearly half the team were guilty, does not excuse Steinson, though it is a derelection of duty by a group of highly paid and supposedly top footballers.

Can't really argue with that.

What we saw with Luiz continually running half the length of the pitch, completely unchallenged epitomised exactly what is wrong with the team at the moment. All we saw were players looking at one another , shrugging and pointing and a manager sat on the bench who took far too long to do something about it.

In a way, somewhat peversely, maybe it's a good thing that it got so bad. It massively highlighted our problems and the manager and his coaching staff can in no way gloss over it. It's time for them all to step up to the mark and earn their wages, just as the players have to.

Fairy muff.

.. but IMO it was Steinsson's daydreaming that was the most unforgiveable.

I'm absolutely fucking sick and tired of our defenders gifting goals from set-pieces though. It's happened against Man Utd, Norwich (x 2) and now Chelsea.

Home to Blackpool last season ?

Been happening for a while.

I thought coyle tried against chelsea with his tactics, he still needs tweaking though. also he wasnt helped by a fuckin diabolical goalkeeper who obviously cant hack it as it was worse than his display at blackburn, I liked the way he put davies wide right of a 5 man midfield which IMO was to attack and bully ashley cole and nod them headers down towards n'gog, he dropped a bollock though by not putting muamba man marking lampard, also he should of put gardner at left back for robinson especially for pace, I liked boyata instead of knight but he was exposed too often by robinson and I would of put mark davies in midfield where gardner played, pratley aint good enough

Would agree with all of that

are we zonal or man marking?

must be zonal and i think some of our players zones are out on the car park there that far away from the player there marking

Not sure he needed to be man-marked but it would have helped if the midfield had closed him down rather than allowing him the freedom of the pitch. No point in following him until he gets into the last third and then just giving up on it like Reo-Coker did. However i agree that Gardner should be starting at left back. We might as well be playing two at the back for all the use Steinsson and Robinson are. I feel sorry for Boyata trying to settle in with the shambles that's going on around him at the moment.

Mr newman, you wasn't impressed by Jussi's replacement.

Who do you prefer, then?

Jussi or Boggy?

As much as I dislike jussi he has to play, bogdan is pure dogshit

I've always said coyle has made 2 major cock ups, firstly dropping wheater the week before the semi and secondly by selling al habsi

His other errors can be dealt with but not them 2

Am I the only one who thinks Wheater is a one paced carthorse??

I am with you Zat Knight drops the odd bollock but is faster and better in the air than Wheater, who has been a big dissapointment.

Our defence looked pretty decent to me when Wheater played at CB there last season. It all went to shit when Coyle inexplicably dropped him to bring Knight back in. We were also looking pretty solid at Arsenal until Jussi decided not to cover his near post and then Walcott threw himself to the turf.

Wheater's no world-beater, but he knows his limitations and sticks to what he's good at. He's also far better in the air than Knight.

IMO he should be straight back into the side alongside Cahill.

Trouble is, which stumps are going to play either side of them? :pardon:

nope i agree with you there.

He made the macclesfield front line seem like Messi and Villa at times.

How i long for a Gudni Bergsson to play alongside GC

Zat Knight drops the odd bollock every 45 mins.

He cant pass fucking wind he just twats it out and effectively gives possesion back to the opposition every time. We cant pass the ball around and keep possesion with people like him playing because when it gets to him weve lost it.

He cant mark a player to save his fucking life.

When a player runs at him with the ball he just backs off until the cunt shoots and often scores.

Knight is fucking wank in the air and definatley not as good as Wheater.

He can run a bit when he can be arsed which is not often.

We have had worse players then Knight & Wheater play more effectively at centre half as the team was set up properly; Simon Charlton, Mike Whitlow, etc.

Baresi and Maldini would have struggled in that team on Sunday.

which one would owen have used as his right winger?

Look at the stats. 14 clean sheets in 100 games with Cahill and Knight . Then when Cahill partners Wheater last season we looked solid and kept a greater amount of clean sheets and Wheater hardly did a thing wrong. The chemistry of the back four is never conducive to clean sheets when Knight plays.

I've been thinking that for a few weeks now.

Even Pedersen made a better full-back than the current two, the way BSA set the team up.

Not a fan of Robinson by any means but with Petrov in front of them and no natural defensive midfielder when Fabrice is missing I would be surprised if any player looked solid at left back for us!!

OC needs to earn the right to play football by making us hard to beat first and foremost. To do that he may have to sacrifice his luxury and "flare" players starting with Petrov

Hit the nail on the head there.
