Wouldn't be so bothered if he wasn't another big non-scoring lump like the two we've already got. If he was past it and cheap but a bit different, like a 39 year old Kevin Phillips, fair enough to toss a wage at it. Nothing against Ameobi, decent lad and has been a decent player of his type, but not what we need

Is Ameobi the one who Bobby Robson referred to as Carl Cort?

Reporter: "What do your team-mates call you?" - "Shola."

"What does the manager call you? - "Carl Cort."

Bobby also called Bryan Robson "Bobby" to which he replied "I'm Bryan, you're Bobby"

This was c1990, he'd have stood no chance by the time he was in charge of the toon.

As soon as he pulls on a white shirt, he IS one of our own.

To those saying this signing has made them lose all faith in Neil Lennon - I'd like to hear who you think he should sign on a budget of FUCK ALL.

And you can Fook off n'all. I'm in no mood for your bollacks tonight! Do you ever read a post before quoting it?

WUM off

I just want it to work.

I'm past the point of even bothering to analyse.

It's fingers crossed time, let's see.

ian marshall was one of fatmans best

I understand there is a Marshall story in Big Sam's book.

He was given permission to train at home (Leicester) but given a monitor to assess his movement.

The results were very strange, indicating he was running further and faster than any player could.

Or rather, his dog was.

hahaha

ian marshall gave us all hope

and he was one of those inspired allardyce signings that got us up

doubt the story is true sadly

sounds like a sportsmans dinner tale

One that is true (but not in any book): IM offered to buy PG's house.

Ian Marshall told that story on talk sport last week. He did it twice after convincing the staff the equipment must have been broke the first time. When he was called into big SAMs office to explain what had happened apparentley alar dye pissed himself laughing but wouldn't allow Marshall to skip training to stay at home again.

Whenever I've seen Ameobi play looks like he is awkward to play against. Looks a big lad looking at that picture on Twitter.

Give the lad a chance

Anyway when we first got in prem we were a fooking laughing stock. We showed em then right.

Get behind em as always tomoz backs to the wall boys for players and fans. Gotta come out fighting.

Ian Marshal after the PNE final victory was asked if he was disappointed not to have played he replied that

he was especially disappointed  as he was denied the possibility of ' doing that cnut Gregan'.

Warms the cockles of ones heart.

People keep saying lennon has no money, which is true to an etxtetnt, but signing madine, dobbie, heskey and ameobi who individually aren't on a fortune but collectively could have been the wages of one half decent striker that could of worked alongside clough and Clayton. Lennon has to accept the blame if he is choosing to sign players with poor scoring records and no potential. Also signing 2 right backs in the summer when we have vela who could be decent cover for the main right back is also another wage down the pan.

You sign who you can sign.

It's not as if prolific strikers are going for free very often these days, and if they are then their salaries are through the roof.

Even ALF wasn't exactly prolific, and we couldn't afford him (at the time).

Need to get behind whoever he picks today. This is our most important game in a long time . Those sniping from the sidelines are deluded if they think we can do better than Lennon .

Give me strength, he's scored around 11 in 30 for Bolton and Wolves. That's not far off 20 goals a season and he's not hit the ground running yet, but he will. Edited by Mounts Kipper

You mean the clayton that only came back in October and the Clough that's out for half of season?

IMO Heskey is fine when coming on with 15 to go to hold the ball up. He's got a better touch than the whole sqaud put together. He just can't start. Ever again.

Seriously? He can't hold the ball up for toffee. You may as well lump it up to spearing

Heskey can't hold the ball up?

You serious?

Granted it needs to be passed to within a yard of him so he actually gets it, but he has a good first touch and protects it well
