Just been in Bolton town centre.

Fuck. Ing. Hell.

It just gets worse every time I see it.

Flatten everything except the town hall and the market place.

Turn it into a park or summert. It’s a goner.

Decent radio programme on BBC Radio 4 series last night "The Bottom Line" focusing entirely on Bolton - looking at the impact of Covid on the local economy - talks about the town centre regeneration plans towards the end.

https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/m000nvtx

Did it have a warning, “Some things have been made up for dramatic licence and other stuff”?

Fair play to the lad for his enthusiasm, I just can't see the business case.

If they go ahead with the thousand of houses round the corner from you though, there may be a slightly better one.

Me neither this has been mentioned on and off for yonks, but if the government are providing funding for a study could be something or just lip service

That “existing but disused” track has has houses built on it at Darcy Lever. Besides, if this is just an extension of the Manc-Bury line then I’m not sure folk would ever use it if they needed to travel through Bury to get to Manchester.

And Bradley Fold and Radcliffe.

It could take a small amount of traffic off the roads if people don't need to drive down to Radcliffe Station, but it would only be small.

Folk on the other side of Bolton would use the train.

Not sure there are that many folk driving the few miles between the two towns for work neither.

The route is now a cycle way and apart from crossing the odd road is traffic free, and widely used.

Can't see the need at all.

It's a fucking eyesore dont know how they get away with, boils my piss when these mealy mouthed building control and planners start telling you which brick or stone you have to use on an extension, yet allow monstrosities like this and that fucking thing in Moses Gate to be built

.

Ok, I get it - you don't like it...

So tell us about your dream Mosque..?

Re: Campcraft - dunno about them owning the building - iirc they used to be in The 'Boydells' block near the wheel when I was a kid, used to dedicate the 1st floor to pitched tents we'd go in and piss about in them. Wank each other off for a laugh 😉.

There was a cheaper outdoors shop right on the square - great location, still folded.

Pastie Shoppe location irrelevant - but it'll die with its clientele.

And finally, Ting, used to love this until I checked it's sugar content - makes Coke seem like a health drink.

And a Metrolink on either of the old Bolton-Radcliffe-Bury or Bolton-Eccles/Trafford-Manchester railways is the biggest load of pipe dream pie in the sky rubbish ever...

I can only presume those muting such daft ideas haven't ever biked or walked either path.

Carrying out such a plan - it'd make The Three Gorges Dam construction look like a doddle.

Put planning permission in for another level on the Radcliffe car park (well before covid)
