Site Supporter Alf Hartigan Posted May 30, 2020 Site Supporter Share Posted May 30, 2020 Davardis broke my pizza virginity too. Their recent reviews don't sound great, although I know someone who still swears by em. Franca's is another one people rave about but wasn't that impressed on my one and only visit. Call me a heathen but Italianos is the best. Bella Pizza in town is still good. Anyone tried Papa Johns? Not tried them yet.

Papa John's are good, but by the fuck only ever get one on the offer scheme. In fairness, something is always on offer, but it's a way of selling more. A bit like the pub sign on Peter Kay's car share.

She had a very Bolton accent though and was the first chippy i knew about that opened on a Sunday but for some reason they weren't allowed to sell fish. Can still taste the fish , egg fried rice and curry . Bloody great it was , well worth the 15 min stagger in the wrong direction when i came out of the Stags and Queen Anne. Never mixed well with the Oranjeboom that the Vulcan had on at one time. Mind you , was never a patch on Sou's . But it did stay open longer. Mind you i was barred from Sou's for a while. Should have not got involved when a muppet slapped his bird. But always the gentleman /or hot head i stormed in. Edited May 30, 2020 by embankment Cannot spell Oranjeboom

The original Pizzaland was definitely on the other side of Deansgate - I'm sure it was in the bottom block further up from Stolen From Ivor. They moved to where Pizza Hut was but I think they sold up because the upstairs flooring was fucked and unsafe or something like that. Pizzaland was on the M&S side in the 70s - spent a lot of time in there as a 6th former as they sold pizza by the quarter slice and unlimited refills of coffee (we were cheapskates). After I left Bolton, it moved to the opposite side of the road and then became Pizza Hut.

Development, I mean contractors on the old Maxwells club site digging out rubble this week but not there today still along way to get down to river Croal level bitten off more than they can chew in my opinion ,lots of old rooms and buildings underneath Bank street that they will have to deal with. Bank street still one way more than a year on , it was supposed to be for 8 to 12 weeks at the start
