Do you really think this was where this broke down?

I think there may be something in it.

There was part of an interview where SS explained why he'd dropped Collins previously- he openly said he had spoken to the player and indicated that he'd let his levels drop below where they were expected.

It may be that Collins didn't take it too well.

Guess we'll not get to know to be honest, but if he is on his way, then so be it.

SS had enough of Southwood after that third goal at Bristol.

Goalie stayed on his line and just left their player with a free header.

Dropped him for the next game.

Maybe so.

Baxter also made some big errors too.

Each to their own, but once we'd pretty much gone, I thought Southwood would come back in, even if it was just to give him some belief, as he was the contracted keeper.

We need a Fred Barber type goalkeeping coach.

Kelly N'mai from Salford now being linked

Makes sense, he’s a good young prospect.

Are Salford skint? Thought he’d be the type of player they’d want to keep.

Not the most talented but good pace and strength out wide are very useful assets in league 1.

Yes they lose money arse over fist and are trying to become sustainable.

There wasn't one natural leader amongst them. Thommo was kind of shoved into the role as no-one else could step up. Too much arm waving after tackles and desperate claims for free kicks from the forwards added to our soft as shit mentality. Of the current players, probably only Dempsey, Forino or Thommo could take on that role unless we bring in a real leader to  elsewhere

So, the headline is that Collins' move edges closer- does that mean that it is essentially done, or could he be thinking "I'm not so sure about this".

By accepting the offer, is this just a continuation of FV's policy- as we did with Tomo- whereby every player has a price, but it's up to the player as to whether he wants to go; or is there more to it, with the gaffer saying, "I'm not guaranteeing you a starting place and it may for be the best to look elsewhere"

Something did go awry last season, with some strong comments about needing better players etc and attitudes seemed to weaken.

For me, I'd like him to stay, fit into a more resilient team and continue to provide some of that flair to go with it.

Doesn't look like that will be the case though, which is fair enough, but we have to then strengthen the forward line dramatically.

Vic out for ages, and not a great record.

Dan- well it's Dan.

McAtee- hit and miss, a moaner and good at smoothing mortar between bricks.

New fella.

Nothing greatly whets the appetite amongst those we do have.

There's not a chance MK are making moves to sign Collins without being tipped the wink by his agent.

Hence other clubs were sniffing too.

He's just won player of the season and is our top scorer. Clubs wouldn't make a move unless they were told too.

Not like he's on peanuts with us either.

This Player of the Season thing, well it was the lowest bar I can ever remember. None of them deserved the title.

I couldn’t bring myself to vote, they were all bobbins.

Indeed. But if there's one player at the club that folk wouldn't even attempt 5o fish round its him.

Of all the transfers there might be this summer I would guess no one thought we would sell Collins to a team in a lower division and be making a profit on him.

Him leaving is frustrating as he had the potential to be higher level, admitted he struggled to settle. I have already lost track of what players we have and certainly no idea of best starting XI.

He's 28, he doesn't have potential to be higher level, he's not going to improve.  I'm a bit disappointed he's leaving, I enjoyed watching him play on his good days, but one thing that was clear to me last season was that we didn't have a potential championship player on our hands.  If we'd beaten Oxford, at the time I thought he might have been one of the very few that could have stepped up, that's been dismissed this season for me, far too lightweight/inconsistent/poor at taking relatively easy chances.

So the consolation to me is we might (maybe), replace him with someone who has the potential to go higher if we do.

On his day he was miles ahead, his potential is based on those days. His lack of consistency means he has never achieved his potential.

You said yourself pre Oxford you thought he could step up. So clearly thought he had the potential.

So Hutchinson signs for another two years, Sharmen Lowe in from Chelsea on loan. Is Southwood on his way.?

Assuming SS will want a keeper on bench probably need 3 keepers.
