Wullie Posted April 19, 2017 Posted April 19, 2017 Still staying positive but I also have to say, Parky needs to be told that Vela isn't a number 10 and he should put him back into his normal midfield position Quote
birch-chorley Posted April 19, 2017 Posted April 19, 2017 (edited) Still staying positive but I also have to say, Parky needs to be told that Vela isn't a number 10 and he should put him back into his normal midfield positionIn fairness he is our top scorer on10 goals so I can understand some of the pressure on his shoulders in terms of scoring. We should have had enough last night for Vela and Pratley to support ALF when the balls came in the box but they just couldn't get on the end of anything After Vela on 10 then you have Wheater & Beevers on 7 a piece (shame one of our many corners last night didn't trouble them more) Most the teams in the division have a higher goal scorer than we do, a few of the teams around us have 2 or 3 By rights we have done well to challenge for automatic promotion given our goal scorer situation. Then again I suppose you could add Clough and ALF together but it's still way off the pace Edited April 19, 2017 by birch-chorley Quote

He was only one of two players who would actually run at a defence Quote
Mounts Kipper Posted April 19, 2017 Posted April 19, 2017 With our non existent creative centre midfield I'd have played Morais there to feed Le Fondre the lad gets zero quality ball. Quote
Rizlar Posted April 19, 2017 Posted April 19, 2017 Problem as I see it PP is defensive and he as tried to sneak us over the line with the fact we was 7 points in front by not conceding well he's blown it . Quote
Rizlar Posted April 19, 2017 Posted April 19, 2017 Ffs PP pleading with Madine to play through the pain barrier to help us go up ffs Madine should be wanting to the arsehole, SKD would have played on 1 leg if asked! Also PP states Bury set up to not lose and so did we! Quote
waffer cup 07 Posted April 19, 2017 Posted April 19, 2017 Last night. Referees and linesman were a joke. Their goalkeeper wasted time every goal kick etc and got away with it. Howard looks very shaky. Pratley runs around a lot but does little and his shooting is woeful. Spearing disappeared after he got booked. Derik is no midfielder. ALF only sees the ball when it's flying over his head. No wonder were struggling. Got to start Henry at Port Vale he's a footballer he can run with the ball and pass it. Although he hasn't shown a lot i'd start Chris Long up front with ALF, if Madine's not fit we've got to try something different. Quote

mannyroad58 Posted April 19, 2017 Posted April 19, 2017 If I was PP the first thing I would do this morning would tell the goal keeping coach and that cunt Howard to pack their bags and fuck off out of the club No fucking way should a goalkeeper keep kicking the ball has high as he can up to a midget center forward who's being marked by a giant center half Just fuck off the pair of you Quote
tarian1979 Posted April 19, 2017 Posted April 19, 2017 That ll be a manager tactic. How a keeper distributes a ball definitely. The manager could say always play it short to available full back if wanted or go to the wings long and not down the middle. Quote

The manager could say always play it short to available full back if wanted or go to the wings long and not down the middle. He was clearly trying to throw it out to the wingbacks, but is so indecisive that by the time he does do it, Bury had got back into position and meant he had to kick it. Quote
Guest Posted April 19, 2017 Posted April 19, 2017 The variation is to give it to Beevers who hoofs it to Madine Quote
Horwich Posted April 19, 2017 Posted April 19, 2017 Im looking forward to a big summer clearout Quote
Take Hunt Off Posted April 19, 2017 Posted April 19, 2017 Howard was kicking the ball to find Pratley on our left which also failed at Oldham & easy to defend as Pratley jumps like man with concrete in his boots .When he & Derek went off we brought on players who can actually run with the ball and we finally put Bury under pressure , too little to late. We have not had a decent left sided midfielder for longer than I can remember although Taylor does an competent job with little support at wingback . Why not play Morris more centrally & Henry on the right with two up (Long & Alf) Teams have finally cottoned on that if they can block off Wheater & Beevers from set pieces we don't have much else to trouble them Spearing played better when Derek went off given the full responsibility for the tidying up job . Just hope we can fall over the line & that Port Vale's back four are all dwarfs ! Quote
captainmed Posted April 19, 2017 Posted April 19, 2017 Fail to go up, PP has to go. Fail to go up and a lot of supporters will go too. After years of decline we have finally got something to bite onto. Take that away and i'm not really sure where we are. I always thought football was about entertainment, not just hoofing the ball at every opportunity. Its absolutely dreadful to watch... FWIW, i still think we will go up, but if we don't he accepts full responsibility with his negative tactics. 4-5-1 at home to Bury with Derek, Spearing and Pratley in midfield beggers belief... Quote
Gumbo Posted April 19, 2017 Posted April 19, 2017 Derek was woeful and at the same time doesn't suit how we play. Quote
Take Hunt Off Posted April 19, 2017 Posted April 19, 2017 We can't afford to waste 45 minutes at Port Vale passing square balls to each other & we certainly can't afford to go a goal down otherwise we are looking at another 0-1 defeat . Plan B please !! Quote
Guest Posted April 19, 2017 Posted April 19, 2017 Derek was woeful and at the same time doesn't suit how we play. He was. Pratley and Spearing weren't any better either! Quote

bolton va va Posted April 19, 2017 Posted April 19, 2017 He was. Pratley and Spearing weren't any better either! I've no complaints about Spearing as his main role is as defensive cover, which he's very good at, but our big failing is with Pratley & Deryk's inability to pass the ball or create anything. With Madine playing we bypassed the problem with the long ball, but without him the ball just doesn't stick upfront. Sadly I don't have the answer, with Mavies crocked, Trotter ( boooooooo) so immobile & Henry being pisspoor whenever he's started games but I don't think we can carry on starting with Pratley & Deryk, Quote
DIPS Posted April 19, 2017 Posted April 19, 2017 Have we still for that lad from Birmingham? He seemed handy from the v little I've seen of him. Quote
Happy Wanderer Posted April 19, 2017 Posted April 19, 2017 Whatever happened to wingers switching sides when it doesn't work out? The last Bolton winger I can remember to switch from right to left then back was Willie Morgan. Morias should at least try the other side and pull their defenders around more. Quote
