What about. What about

We were told vote leave, there's no downsides.

From the off, the EU made their position clear, but hey, no worry, we hold all the cards

Maybe we should've stuck to happy families

The thought of no deal fucks me right off

Frankly, I dont give a fuck if in 30 years its unanimously agreed its the best thing we ever did

I'm bothered about now and the next 5 years

I agree, it will be scant consolation to my kids if we struggle for 10-15 years and I tell them not to worry it’ll come good in their 30’s.

The fact is that the leave campaign was full of shit and the EU were never going to make it easy for us to leave. The voices that told us that in 2016 were drowned out by bullshitting twats like Johnson and Gove.

That is the whole point. It's not comparable.

The the idea that they need us as much as we need them doesn't hold water does it?

I am interested in the counter argument too.

Our economy is massively service biased and with London being the financial capital of europe (for now) then this surplus would always be the case.

I would love some proper meat on the bones on the counter argument where we will be better off out, because no one outside of Brexit Central agrees.

We must be getting closer to the fabled dirty dozen.....

You need not worry son. Dirty dozen or otherwise, 2021 will be the fond adieu

You do need to keep up though. One came off the list recently so it's Francis Rossi/Rick Parfitt innit.

He really is the saddest twat I have ever encountered - certainly on here, probably anywhere.

I would think there's every likelihood that he already attends special clubs.

The irony here of course being that your constant blocking of people leaves you in a very special club of your own.

Time was I thought you understood the mechanics of a place like this, but it’s clearly too much for your delicate likkle soul. It’s a debating chamber, if you can’t hack it you’re better off on a Britain First forum.

Some use you probably were in the battles of the 70’s and 80’s.

”anyone seen Bolty?”

”No, he ran to the other side of the lever end and hid from the Chelsea fans because he didn’t agree with their views on joining Europe, reckons they’re all puffs and he hate puffs because they all wear la-dee-da socks and Ben Sherman’s.”

I'd have thought Bolty wouldn't mind a Ben Sherman shirt

If they’re 40% of our exports and we’re 8% of theirs, doesn’t that just mean they need us more than we need them?

Either I’m misunderstanding this or someone’s using the completely wrong arguments.

they have 27 other countries to source alternative suppliers, not always possible of course. We have to replace our imported items internally (not always possible) or from elsewhere (not likely to be cheaper or readily available).

It also leaves our farm and agricultural products in a very vulnerable position as they rely on exports and readjustment will be extremely difficult short term.

So we’d need to look at the stuff we’re importing/exporting and come up with alternatives for manufacturers and farmers to start producing in order to alleviate their losses.

Fucking simple this economics stuff.

Obviously some of the stuff relies on certain weathers and climates but what the hell is the Eden Project all about if it’s not about showing us we can change climate by building a few fucking giant greenhouses? They are self-sufficient in Iceland for bananas for goodness sake!

They managed to source the stuff we export elsewhere in a heartbeat.

I can’t speak for the services industry, which I think will be thrown into that 40%, but I’m pretty sure creatures can be grown and killed elsewhere.

Its down to the spitfires lads.

all depends on this deal. Get a deal, and we’re still in with a fighting chance. Boris needs to dig out his begging bowl and leave his ego at home for a few days.

Which is now the very best we seem to be hoping for. We left, to gives ourselves a fighting chance.

It can take years for manufacturers to find suitable alternatives, whether it’s raw materials, spares or services.

This applies to both sides but we are creating a very difficult market for UK businesses.  We still don’t know the future trading arrangements so they have not been able to make a viable plan.

There are materials we use in our products that can only be sourced abroad. Right now we get them from the EU, because there’s no tariffs, the delivery is smooth and it’s well made.

There are Chinese and American options but they are more expensive, longer lead times and the quality is not as good.

What this means is that we increase the price of our finished item, deliver it later and it’s more likely to fail at some point.

I’ve tried, but I can’t see any advantages to that.

So we have to use our friends in the EU. Which is why we need a deal as WTO or the Kangaroo deal means our prices to UK customers are going to rise.

We will tell them it’s because of Brexit, so they should be ok with it.

This is the worst case scenario and there is no easy solution.

It is one of the biggest acts of economic self harm ever, straight after a once in a lifetime pandemic.

Sadly people will be along shortly to explain why this is good.

This will please many of the ruddier cheeked Brexit fanatics immensely.

I can see it now, sat on patio furniture in Benidorm, Australian lager in hand, waving a Union Jack and bellowing out Rule Britannia with chests puffed out.

This. Is. Perfect.

They already currently patrol our waters 275 days per year, more important to negotiations is the figure of 700k European jobs at risk with a no deal and that’s on top of already high rates of unemployment in many EU countries. Hold our nerve and a deal is coming.

Indeed, the EU shouldn't be self-harming

Sshh

you’re making Brexit sound bad for both sides

You could argue that on both sides currently. Hopefully someone has the common sense to climb down.
